The Ultimate Evolution

Sheyan carefully inspected the life capsule a while longer before he went back to the group to share his thoughts. Everyone frowned and looked around, as if they could all feel a pair of cold, venomous eyes watching them from the dark!

Sheyan closed his eyes, pondered over the problem carefully, then said decisively, “Let’s stay together and leave this place first! We’ll dig out all the Wasps that we buried before. I have use for them. If I’m guessing correctly, the Predator’s probably not here right now.”

“Where is he, then?” asked Pokan.

“Our collective strength cannot be taken lightly, so logically speaking, he should deal with the weakest link first!” answered Sheyan.

“The weakest link… Since we’re all here together, you mean he’s going after Paul?” asked Dardanian.

Sheyan sneered. “Of course he is. The most powerful thing in the world isn’t strength, but wisdom. If the guy who was thrown down is really that powerful, he’ll definitely seize this golden opportunity to kill the person who’s alone at the moment. Not only can he weaken our total strength, he can also get first-hand information about us. Cyborg No. 1!”

Cyborg No. 1 came out and projected a holographic image from his eyes. It depicted the area around the mushroom rock.

“According to the first-hand information I’ve obtained, after we landed, the Wasps were not randomly scattered around the mushroom plain. Instead, they were concentrated in five areas. Now that we have the ointment to mask our smell, we could basically prevent the interference of native creatures, so we’ll only need about an hour and ten minutes to travel through all five areas. Including the excavation and cleaning time, we’ll need about an hour and a half.”

“Because there were casualties among the team, there will be leftover Wasp spacecrafts. The spacecrafts need fingerprints and retina scans to unlock, but I’ve now obtained the highest level of clearance, so it won’t be too difficult for me to break them. I expect us to obtain at least ten Wasps. The remaining four can be used as decoys.”

The eyes of all the humans lit up after hearing Cyborg No. 1 present the plan like an old butler. The word “decoys” was music to their ears.

Cyborg No. 1 continued, “Of these four Wasps, three can be driven by the cyborgs. Even if the remaining one is unmanned, I can activate its automatic navigation system to make it take off. It’ll only fly in a straight line, but that should be enough to confuse the enemy for a few minutes.”

“Wonderful! As long as we have this bait to lure the mothership away, we’ll fly away safe and sound,” said Dardanian with glowing eyes.

Sheyan shook his head slightly. “I can’t guarantee complete safety, but at least everyone will have a much higher chance of surviving.”

Sheyan’s arrangement was well-researched, well-organised and well-planned, instantly gaining the confidence of the team. It was much better than Paul’s so-called “plan” which he tried so hard to hide from them.

Of course, most of them did not know what “the highest level of clearance” meant, but everyone had their own secrets, so no one asked.

Sheyan had been very reliable so far so they did not think he would lie about such a trifle matter. Only Ronnie, who had dealings with Fiji previously, knew some insider information. He instantly became more in awe of Sheyan.

However, Aldaris still looked apprehensive.

“I’m worried about something.”

Sheyan smiled. “I know, you’re worried that with the highly-advanced technology the Predators have on the mothership, they may be able to monitor what we’re about to do, right? After all, even the satellites on Earth can observe things with the precision of up to half a metre, so there’s no way the Predator’s technology can’t. But don’t forget, Earth and Uplos are not the same.”

“The Predators had set up a strong magnetic interference on this planet to shield it against human monitoring, but their communication on this planet is also greatly affected. Otherwise, when Veron was losing the fight, if they can really monitor the situation on the battlefield, they would’ve definitely ordered the other Predators to group up. How could they possibly have given us the opportunity to take them down one by one? Therefore, we can tell from this that communication between the Predators is likely only possible between the sub-ships and the mothership. The mothership may still be able to monitor the ground, but it should not be too accurate.”

Aldaris nodded silently; he seemed to be convinced now.

Sheyan turned his gaze towards the vast grassland and narrowed his eyes. He said slowly, “This means that the only thing standing in our way now is the Predator that had just descended. Defeat him, and we’ll have a smooth journey home!”

Hearing the word “home”, everyone’s emotion started boiling! The word “home” was especially profound for these contestants who struggle constantly in the realms. Physical trauma can be quickly recovered with advanced technology, but psychological trauma can only be healed by the warmth provided by family. Sheyan had always paid attention to details, so he knew the word “home” would boost the group’s morale and determination….

His own heart, on the contrary, was heavy. The Predators may advocate brawn and killing, but he knew very well that they were absolutely no fools. Since they had decided to use a life capsule to send a Predator down, they must have enough confidence that the Predator would be able solve the problem for them!

Sheyan understood clearly that if Veron and the other six Predators did not fall for the trap and had instead fought as a group, the contestants would probably have lost!

Obviously, those on the mothership thought that this newly airdropped guy was stronger than Veron and the other six Predators combined!

While Sheyan contemplated this, he moved with the other contestants under the lead of Cyborg No. 1 along the established route to excavate the Wasps that had been buried underground.

These spacecrafts were specially designed for this mission, so their quality and energy reserve were both excellent. None of the spacecrafts had suffered serious damage. After digging the Wasps out, the four remaining cyborgs only needed to activate their floating mode, and they could be easily taken away.

The whole process was quite smooth, but Sheyan was constantly restless. His heart felt like a leaf in the wind.

Ronnie, who was walking ahead, suddenly issued a warning. The group stopped and Sheyan rushed to the front. He saw that Ronnie’s face was a little pale, while Ramtas beside him was standing stiffly in place, its heart gripped by fear. The creature was also shivering all over.

Sheyan walked towards Ronnie. He was momentarily stunned, but quickly returned to normal.

In front of Sheyan was a huge footprint!

The footprint was very similar to a human’s, but it definitely did not belong to a human, because it only had three toes.

The soft soil had sank down a foot deep, and the footprint was as large as a bathtub that could hold hundreds of kilograms. The intricate lines on the footprint were clearly visible.

The footprint gave off a sense of wild bloodlust. Even Sheyan’s cold, hard heart was gripped by fear!

For some reason, Sheyan could not help recalling the event that happened not long after he arrived on the planet – Ronnie was chased by a Ferocious Wolverine, but the Ferocious Wolverine suddenly died in a strange manner! Undoubtedly, a really powerful creature had killed the Ferocious Wolverine in a matter of seconds.

It was a powerful creature that could vie for territory with the whole One-Horned Flying Ant colony! Sheyan had an intuition that the thing which left this footprint was closely related to the mysterious creature Ronnie had met before.

But what was even more bizarre was that they only found this one footprint after searching the surrounding area, as if it was a winged creature that only stopped here momentarily before flying away!

They were in a hurry at the moment, so they did not have time to stay here to investigate the footprint further. They had now found seven Wasps, so they could already see the hope of returning safely. That thought quickened their pace.

But just then, in the woods not far away from them, a violent explosion occurred. A mushroom cloud rose, followed by a blood-curdling scream.

The scream was Paul’s.

The group quickly rushed in that direction, but instead of the sight of Paul, they only caught the heavy roar of an engine nearby.

They followed the sound to its source, which turned out to be a huge heavy-duty truck. It’s exhaust pipe, as thick as a chimney, was spewing black smoke. Its tough rubber tires rubbed crazily against the ground, sending the soil under them flying.

The heavy-duty truck spun in place for a few seconds before speeding forward, crashing into the trees in front of it and running them down.
