The Quest for Immortality

”Moreover, other sect prodigies are not far behind.”

The Chongxu Sect Leader sighed, ”Honestly speaking, Mo Hua is already very talented, but even the most talented have their limits.”

”To truly have him lead Taixu Gate against the world, challenging the Four Sects and Eight Gates alongside Twelve Streams, even if Mo Hua has the courage, we must have this foundation...”

”Taixu Gate’s disciples, with such strength, how can they compete?”

”This is a dead-end.”

”How do you approach Mo Hua?”

”The three of us Sect Leaders can’t shamelessly place such a heavy burden on his small shoulders, can we?”

The three fell silent.

The Taixu Sect Master, who had been quiet all along, flashed a subtle glance and sighed softly:

”Though that’s the case, we cannot just sit and wait for doom.”

”From the Sword Discussion onward, we all have witnessed Mo Hua’s ability. If we speak of cultivation and battle prowess, he isn’t the top.”

”But if we speak of formations, tactics, and intelligence, this child indeed stands out.”

”Moreover, he is Taixu Gate’s ’Junior Brother’, praised by everyone, commanding high prestige, and disciples trust him.”

”Therefore, for the Shura Sword Discussion, we ultimately rely on Mo Hua.”

”As Junior Brother, this responsibility is inevitable.”

”He should be aware of it himself; thus, we, as Sect Leaders, need not say much. But when it comes to action, we must not be stingy.”

”I propose...” Taixu Sect Master’s gaze sharpened, speaking resolutely:

”To prepare for battle, open the three lineage inheritances of Taixu, Tai’a, and Chongxu to Mo Hua!”

”Let him choose whatever he finds useful from each lineage, and arrange for himself.”

”All for the Sword Discussion Conference!”

”Gather the strength of one sect’s three lineages to plan this final Earth Grade Shura battle!”

The Taixu Sect Master spoke generously.

The expressions of Tai’a Sect Leader and Chongxu Sect Leader were somewhat subtle.

After being Sect Leaders for so many years, how could they not understand such nuances?

”Isn’t this too abrupt?” Chongxu Sect Leader hesitated.

The Taixu Sect Master sighed slowly, ”We are not unaware of how crucial the upcoming Sword Discussion is.”

”If we don’t make up our minds and make this decision now, it will be too late to regret if the Shura battle fails.”

”By then, if Taixu Gate suffers a devastating defeat, taking out the inheritance will be futile.”

”What if we lose?” Chongxu Sect Leader frowned.

The Taixu Sect Master answered candidly, ”If we lose, then we lose; what else can be done?”

”You...”

The Taixu Sect Master solemnly stated:

”What great benefits are tied to the Sword Discussion Conference? Across the entire Qian Learning State Boundary, which major sect is not striving for even the slightest chance?”

”There’s no certainty of success in this world.”

”Success comes from fighting for it. With a sliver of an opportunity, others fight for it, they may succeed or they may fail.”

”But if you don’t fight, hesitating from the start, worrying about gains and losses, then failure is inevitable.”

Chongxu Sect Leader was momentarily stunned, then nodded, somewhat in agreement, but his expression was slightly odd as he asked the Taixu Sect Master:

”This... doesn’t sound like something you’d say?”

It was well known that the Taixu Sect Master was philosophical, traditionally practicing self-cultivation, detached from worldly pursuits, and would not normally speak of ’fighting for a chance’ or ’trying hard to avoid certain failure’.

The Taixu Sect Master sighed deeply, ”Circumstances force me; there’s no choice.”

If he were alone, he might face the world with detachment.

If the sect were at peace, it could remain aloof from worldly affairs.

But now is different, the entire sect’s interests are involved, affecting the future and destiny of tens of thousands of cultivators.

At this time, if he continues to preach detachment from the world, it would be selfish and foolish.

No matter how exhausting or embarrassing, he must persist to the end.

Taixu Gate’s steps forward, if they can climb even one step higher, it would be beneficial.

Chongxu Sect Leader and Tai’a Sect Leader both admired the Taixu Sect Master a notch higher.

In poverty, cultivate oneself; in fortune, help others.

To be noble when needed, and to step into the world when necessary, vying for fame and profit.

Tai’a Sect Leader reflected briefly, then nodded first:

”To give and take; to give, then receive.”

”I will go back to talk to Ancestor and if Ancestor has no objections, I’ll open Tai’a’s inheritance to Mo Hua. Let him choose and see if there’s any usefulness for the Shura battle preparation.”

”With the flames licking our brows, if we don’t fight now, then when?”

Chongxu Sect Leader also nodded, ”I will also discuss with Ancestor...”

As the Chongxu Sect Leader, his real power is limited, with many decisions made by Ancestor, especially those concerning sect inheritance.

The Taixu Sect Master bowed gratefully:

”Thank you both for understanding the greater good.”

...

Departing from the Taixu Sect Master, leaving Taixu Mountain, Tai’a Sect Leader and Chongxu Sect Leader traveled together in a carriage.

”Are we truly going to open the inheritance?”

Chongxu Sect Leader was still somewhat hesitant.

Tai’a Sect Leader glanced at him decisively:

”Open it! Not only should ordinary inheritances be opened, but in my opinion, your Chongxu Gate’s core swordsmanship should also be given to Mo Hua.”

Chongxu Sect Leader frowned, ”He doesn’t study swords, not a Sword Cultivator, why would I give him swordsmanship?”

Tai’a Sect Leader said, ”Regardless of whether he studies swords or uses it, just give it to him first. Without giving, how do you know he won’t use it?”

Chongxu Sect Leader reflected for a moment, gradually realizing, sighed:

”With a Taixu origin, learning Tai’a’s Sword Array, then gaining my Chongxu’s Sword Qi... then this child may truly become the ’Crown Prince’ of three top lineage inheritances.”

”Is this... Ancestor Xun’s idea?”

”Would the ancestor of your Taia Mountain also agree?”

Tai’a Sect Leader shook his head, ”I don’t know Ancestor’s thoughts; I only care about the Sword Discussion.”

”I don’t care what others say; I only want to secure the sect’s ranking.”

”If this child can truly help Taixu Gate maintain its Sword Discussion ranking, then he undoubtedly becomes the Crown Prince of Taixu’s three lineages!”

Tai’a Sect Leader spoke bluntly. .

Chongxu Sect Leader paused, then slowly sighed, nodded, and said softly:

”The Crown Prince will be Crown Prince then, other sects crave this Crown Prince and even cannot!
