The Quest for Immortality

This isn’t too difficult.

Mo Hua was thrown into this situation suddenly, but after pondering for a bit, he roughly understood it.

Moreover now, the entire Yuan Magnetic Sea of the Demon Sect is under his control.

He is both the thief and the gatekeeper.

He ”abuses his authority for personal gain,” with hardly any scruples, so researching things became much convenient.

After comprehending the principles, Mo Hua began to officially manipulate the ”pursuit trap” concerning the Taoist Court, the Demon Sect, and the two Golden Core Demons.

...

Gubei Mountain.

The Eighth Elder, who had just escaped from the Taoist Court’s grasp, was hiding in a secluded forest, his heart in turmoil.

He didn’t understand how things had suddenly spiraled to this point.

Not long ago, he was a Golden Core Elder of the Demon Sect, enjoying the blood of his blood slaves, revered by disciples, able to summon wind and rain, basking in much prestige.

But in the blink of an eye, he became a stray dog.

The Taoist Court wanted to capture him.

The Demon Sect wanted to kill him.

This change was too fast, too fast for anyone to react.

This made him vaguely feel as if someone had been plotting against him all along.

And just at this moment, the Elder’s Token quivered, and a message came:

”Taoist Court’s people are to your southwest, they will find you in about an hour. You must flee north.”

”The Demon Sect wants to kill you too; Elder Xue has already been released...”

Upon hearing the name ”Elder Xue”, the Eighth Elder’s face turned pale as he gritted his teeth and used the Demon Sect Token to question:

”Who exactly are you?”

Anonymous person: ”I am the person helping you.”

”Why are you helping me?”

”You don’t need to know.”

The Eighth Elder sneered, ”Do you think I will easily believe your words? How do I know you’re not deceiving me?”

”You have no choice but to believe me; this is your last straw to clutch at. If you don’t grasp it, you face only death. Either die at the hands of the Taoist Court or at Elder Xue’s hands.”

The Eighth Elder’s mind was racing, ”No, the Taoist Court won’t kill me, they just...”

”I tricked them...” Mo Hua said, ”I deceived them into believing you had secrets of the Demon Sect, so they didn’t kill you. But now they’ve found out that the Demon Sect abandoned you, you’re surely doomed.”

”Impossible, I don’t believe it! This is all one-sided from you!”

”Then let’s make a bet.”

”What bet?”

”Bet on whether the Taoist Court will find you in half an hour and whether they will do as I say and kill you.”

The Eighth Elder trembled, questioning:

”Who exactly are you? How do you know so much?”

”Why does the Taoist Court listen to you?”

”How are you also so knowledgeable about the Demon Sect’s movements?”

”Who on earth are you?!”

But the Elder’s Token remained silent; these messages vanished like a stone sinking into the sea, without any response.

The other side did not answer him.

What to do?

The Eighth Elder was torn internally.

Flee directly? But where to flee?

Returning to the Demon Sect was impossible.

Over years, his greedy embezzling had been exposed. Going back was no different from walking into a trap.

Escape in the direction this anonymous person instructed?

What if it’s a trap?

”Or... verify it first? See if this anonymous person’s words are true, whether the Taoist Court is really pursuing me?”

The Eighth Elder thought for a moment and decided to take a gamble.

He took out a blood and flesh puppet, draped his Demon Sect Taoist Robe over it, and then used Earth Escape to hide himself far away.

About half an hour later, figures appeared in the distance. Sure enough, cultivators from the Taoist Court came.

The one leading them was Gu Changhuai.

As soon as he saw the puppet, without saying a word, he conjured a Wind Blade, slicing the puppet in two, flesh and blood flying.

Gu Changhuai approached to check, frowning: ”Fake?”

He then looked around and commanded loudly: ”Search the surroundings, find the Demon Sect’s Eighth Elder, and kill him on the spot.”

An Enforcement Leader stepped forward and whispered: ”Supervisor, should we really kill him?”

Gu Changhuai’s expression was cold, ”He’s useless now, why keep him alive?”

These words, although distant, still reached the Eighth Elder’s ears intermittently, making his heart sink.

”That anonymous person is completely correct!”

At that moment, the Elder’s Token quivered again, another anonymous message came:

”Run, they have already discovered you.”

The Eighth Elder felt a chill in his heart. Sweeping with his Divine Sense, he realized that his hiding place had long been detected by these Taoist Court cultivators.

They pretended to search, but were in fact aimlessly ”encircling” him.

”Good show, Gu Changhuai, you’re truly cunning and shameless, pretending so perfectly!”

The Eighth Elder hesitated no longer, immediately transforming into escape light, turning into a ball of Blood Qi, and fled northwards.

Gu Changhuai silently watched this escape light, and after a moment, ordered: ”Chase, but don’t pursue too tightly.”

”Yes!”

...

The mountain winds roared, vegetation and shadows rapidly slipped by, intermingled with the stench of monster beasts’ rotting flesh in the mountain air.

The Eighth Elder was anxious, desperately fleeing.

At this moment, he could confirm that the words of the anonymous person were not false.

Though he didn’t know the person’s name or identity, it seemed they genuinely wanted to help him.

If not for their misleading of the Taoist Court, informing him of his embezzlement exposure, he would have been dead without a burial place.

Thereafter, Mo Hua truly guided him accurately, leading him to evade several blockades by the Taoist Court, charging all the way towards the northwest.

The Eighth Elder felt slightly relieved.

Unknown to him, in the direction he was racing towards, Elder Xue, clad in blood-soaked robes and exuding malevolence like an executioner, was also charging towards him under Mo Hua’s guidance.
