The Quest for Immortality

Tai Xu City, private room in a teahouse.

Elder Zheng drank tea while explaining the framework of Yuan magnetic and Lei magnetic to Mo Hua.

”Yuan magnetic and Lei magnetic are different.”

”The so-called ’Yuan magnetic,’ the emphasis is on the word ’magnetic.’ Between heaven and earth, it is filled with Yuan magnetic fields, and among Yuan magnetics, there is a natural sensing.”

”Cultivators use this sensing to transmit messages. The foundation of the Yuan Magnetic Formation is also constructed using the power of Yuan magnetic, and its core consists of two types of Yuan Magnetic Formation Patterns, namely, fixed magnetic patterns and variable magnetic patterns.”

”Variable magnetic patterns are the surface layer and can display text, pictures, and various external Yuan magnetic images.”

”Fixed magnetic patterns form the inner layer, interpreting the meaning of the Yuan Magnetic Formation itself, constituting its most basic function.”

”Yuan Magnetic Formation Masters study the Yuan Magnetic Array Map, learn fixed magnetic patterns, and build magnetic formation systems to transmit books, messages, or receive magnetic signals, manifest information between different magnetic formations...”

...

Mo Hua concentrated intently and listened carefully.

Elder Zheng looked at Mo Hua and slowly said:

”The entire system of ’Yuan magnetic’ is fixed, the framework is inherent. All Yuan Magnetic Formation Masters are learning, constructing, and maintaining various Yuan Magnetic Formations from simple to complex using this ’fixed’ framework, up to the ultimate Yuan Magnetic Array.”

”But this leads to a problem...”

Mo Hua pondered for a moment, ”Is it because the framework is fixed?”

”Exactly,” Elder Zheng nodded with satisfaction, ”The system is fixed, which also means the framework has been fixed by others. You can only learn from others, use others, and build your Yuan Magnetic Formations according to their ’standards.’

”Even the underlying magnetic patterns of your Yuan Magnetic Formation have been defined by others.”

”You only have ’usage rights,’ but no ’modification rights.’

”Almost all Yuan Magnetic Formation Masters in the world follow others’ rules within the established ’Yuan magnetic’ norms, drawing formations that have been predefined by others.”

Mo Hua remained silent for a moment and softly asked, ”What if... one doesn’t want to follow these rules?”

Elder Zheng replied, ”Then that’s another framework.”

Mo Hua’s eyes brightened, ”Lei magnetic?”

Elder Zheng nodded, ”Change magnetic with thunder.”

”Magnetic is fixed; it is normative. Under established rules, cultivators rely solely on their divine sense, or external magnetic patterns, and cannot directly change the existing framework.”

”However, Lei magnetic is responsive. If one wants to change magnetic patterns, they must use the ’Thunder Flow.’

”This is the deepest aspect of this type of formation.”

”If we consider only the magnetic pattern level, fixed magnetic patterns are the inner layer, variable magnetic patterns are the outer layer.”

”From the overall perspective, both fixed magnetic patterns and variable magnetic patterns are actually surface layers, with Lei magnetic being the deepest layer.” 𝙍𝘼ꞐộBÈʂ

”Use magnetics as the surface, thunder as the inner layer. With changes in thunder flow, magnetic patterns are motivated; this is the true principle of the ’Lei magnetic’ formation!”

Elder Zheng spoke solemnly.

”Magnetic is the surface, thunder is the core, change magnetic with thunder...” Mo Hua contemplated for a while and suddenly realized.

Originally, he was fumbling through the process like crossing a river by touching stones, and indeed researched some aspects of Yuan magnetic, but those were ’unorthodox.’

He knew their function but not the principle behind.

Now, under the guidance of Elder Zheng, he finally understood the real distinction between Yuan magnetic and Lei magnetic, and the actual framework of the overall formation.

”Then how does one ’change magnetic with thunder’?” Mo Hua asked for further guidance.

Elder Zheng said: ”You should be quite familiar with the Letter Token, right?”

Mo Hua nodded.

Until now, he doesn’t know how many Letter Tokens he has dismantled.

There are also many Letter Tokens he has restored and deciphered.

He has learned a lot about the basic Yuan Magnetic Formation Patterns, including fixed magnetic pattern annotations.

At least within the scope of second-grade formations, he can be considered a ”Yuan magnetic expert.”

”Let me use the Letter Token as an example,” Elder Zheng said, ”The formation operation of the Letter Token includes two segments of Lei magnetic conduction.”

”One segment is external.”

”When you use magnetic ink to write text in the Letter Token and activate the magnetic patterns, naturally Lei magnetic sensing is generated.”

”Lei magnetic will spread out and permeate the surrounding heaven and earth.”

”Another appropriate Letter Token will sense this Lei magnetic and, according to the fixed magnetic patterns, display the corresponding text.”

”This is the basic process of Yuan magnetic communication.”

Elder Zheng pointed out to the surrounding heaven and earth, ”Our surroundings are filled with Lei magnetic, but these Lei magnetics are extremely subtle, beyond the perception of a cultivator’s divine sense.”

”Even if someone is currently using Lei magnetic to communicate, containing their message in Lei magnetic, it might be floating right in front of us without our knowledge...”

Mo Hua felt the mysteriousness deeply and couldn’t help but ask:

”Can’t these Lei magnetic be intercepted?”

Elder Zheng shook his head, ”To intercept requires specific formations and precise formation media, but even if intercepted, without knowing the matching magnetic patterns, it’s still impossible to restore ’Lei magnetic’ into text.”

”Thus, the Lei magnetic in this world, although vast as the sea and information-dense, remains elusive, even rarely pursued by Lei magnetic array masters for research.”

”What Lei magnetic array masters truly need to study extensively is actually the internal aspect of the Letter Token.”

”This is something you’ve researched as well...”

Elder Zheng looked at Mo Hua.

Mo Hua was startled, ”I’ve researched this too?” He pondered for a moment and then exclaimed, ”Is it the secondary thunder pattern?”

Elder Zheng nodded slightly, ”The Lei magnetic in the world is pervasive vertically and horizontally, cultivators cannot perceive and contemplate.”

”But the Lei magnetic flow between the formations inside the Letter Token is knowable and controllable.”
