The Quest for Immortality

”Junior Brother! Junior Brother! Do you still want the token?”

During lunch that day, the disciples were eating in the dining hall when Cheng Mo found Mo Hua and said in a treasure-showing manner.

It was now well-known among the Taixu Sect disciples that their Junior Brother had a hobby of collecting ”tokens.”

”Is it a Letter Token?” Mo Hua asked.

”Yes.” Cheng Mo nodded and then handed over a token, stained with blood and engraved with the ferocious image of a Monster Beast, to Mo Hua.

Mo Hua was taken aback and asked, ”Where did this token come from?”

Cheng Mo did not hide anything and told Mo Hua everything from start to finish:

”A few days ago, during our rest period, I, along with Situ, Hao Xuan, and Brother Yang, took on a mission to capture a wanted criminal.”

”The reward wasn’t difficult. After we completed it, we were heading back to the Sect when we saw a group of Sin Cultivators fighting with Court Officials.”

”Did you step in to help?” Mo Hua asked.

”No.” Cheng Mo said honestly, ”There were too many of them, and we couldn’t win. Besides, you taught us, Junior Brother, that if the benefit is small and the risk is high, it’s best not to get involved.”

Mo Hua was puzzled, ”Did I say that?”

Cheng Mo affirmed, ”You did.”

”Oh,” Mo Hua nodded, ”If I said it, I said it. Then what happened next?”

”Then, that group of Sin Cultivators was defeated. Some were captured by the Court Officials, but three managed to escape,” Cheng Mo explained.

”Did you chase them?”

”Yes,” Cheng Mo nodded, ”We, a group of five, imitating your style, Junior Brother, wore concealment cloaks and quietly followed them.”

Mo Hua: ”...”

”Then what happened? What did you find?” Mo Hua asked again.

Cheng Mo said, ”We followed them to a remote village. They went into an old yard in the village and locked the door tightly.”

”Following what you taught us, Junior Brother, we broke the Formation outside and sneaked into the yard...”

”The yard looked normal from the outside, but when we searched, we discovered the soil underneath was dark red, soaked with who knows how much blood. That’s when we realized these Sin Cultivators were not ordinary; they might have practiced Evil Skills.” ℞àℕ𝘰ΒЁś

”Dark red blood...” Mo Hua mused, then asked, ”What did you do next?”

Cheng Mo said, ”Following your rules, Junior Brother, when the situation inside is unknown and the enemy is gathered, naturally we set up a formation and blew it up.”

Mo Hua nodded in satisfaction.

”But, there was a little accident...” Cheng Mo continued.

Mo Hua took a bite of his chicken leg, listening to him.

Cheng Mo had a strange expression, ”We set up the formation but hadn’t activated it yet when something changed inside the house. The three Evil Cultivators started to ’gnaw’ on each other.”

”Gnaw?” Mo Hua was taken aback and couldn’t resist asking, ”What kind of gnawing?”

”The kind where you gnaw on elbows,” Cheng Mo looked uncomfortable, ”They were biting each other’s necks, breaking the skin and flesh like wild animals, sucking blood from each other...”

Sucking blood...

Mo Hua was suddenly enlightened and more or less certain of the situation.

This group of Evil Cultivators was likely disciples of the Demon Sect known for spreading ”downline” members that sucked blood.

Cheng Mo continued, ”The three Evil Cultivators gnawed at each other, covered in blood, flesh and blood torn apart. We waited without doing anything until they fought it out, with two severely injured and one left alive. We then detonated the formation, destroying two and leaving one barely alive...”

”Afterward, the five of us acted together, effortlessly capturing the last one unharmed!”

Cheng Mo looked proud.

”Well done.” Mo Hua nodded approvingly. .

These Junior Brothers of his were becoming more and more prudent, not letting down the ”training” he had given them as their Junior Brother.

Cheng Mo added, ”It’s just a pity that these Evil Cultivators were dirt poor. We couldn’t find anything valuable on them except for this token.”

”We handed the people over to the Court Officials, but I secretly kept this token and brought it to you, Junior Brother.”

Mo Hua glanced at the blood-stained token and asked, ”This token looks sinister. Didn’t the Elder confiscate it when you entered the mountain?”

Cheng Mo nodded, ”They did, but I said it was yours, Junior Brother, and Elder Song hesitated for a moment before agreeing.”

Now in the Taixu Sect, Mo Hua’s reputation was more useful than that of an ordinary Elder.

After all, without his sudden rise as the ”Number One in Formations,” the Taixu Sect might not even be among the Eight Great Gates now.

The Three Sects Unification, with the Taixu Sect at the forefront, was in no small part thanks to Mo Hua.

This was something everyone in the Taixu Sect knew.

”But rules are rules,” Cheng Mo said, ”Elder Song wants you to register it when you’re free.”

Such a token imbued with Evil Qi had to be recorded by the Sect, regardless of who was holding it.

Mo Hua was not one to break rules, so he would follow them scrupulously.

”I understand.” Mo Hua nodded, then transferred two hundred Merit Points to Cheng Mo, ”You’ve worked hard; split it with Situ and the others.”

Cheng Mo quickly declined, ”I can’t accept this.”

”Even among brothers, accounts must be settled. Since you’re giving me the token, I can’t take it for nothing,” Mo Hua said.

Of course, it was mainly because he was maxed out on Merit Points and couldn’t use them all. Naturally, he wanted to give some benefits to these Junior Brothers.

Cheng Mo didn’t refuse any further, smiling, ”Thank you, Junior Brother! Then I will accept graciously.”

If it were anything else, he might have been more modest, but Merit Points were a different story.

Unlike the ”rich” Mo Hua, these disciples were struggling with their Merit Points.

Especially now, having reached the late stage of Foundation Establishment and their Cultivation Techniques at the final stage of the Second Grade, they needed to prepare to forge their own Magical Treasure and for the Core Formation...
