The Quest for Immortality

Elder Yi waved his hand, ”How could they all be banned? Besides, since this spell has been passed down and even included in the Taixu Gate, it indicates there’s not much of a problem.”

”Moreover, the Water Prison Technique is peculiar and tricky; a normal person, who would learn such a spell?”

Mo Hua silently looked at Elder Yi.

Only then did Elder Yi realize that the person in front of him had learned the Water Prison Technique, and he laughed sheepishly:

”I didn’t mean you, it’s just... your situation is unique, with a strong divine sense but weak spiritual power. Taking a different path and learning these control spells is quite good, quite good...”

Mo Hua nodded and said:

”Elder, there’s one more question...”

He thought for a moment, looking puzzled, ”I was reviewing the sect’s records, and the Water Prison Sect was destroyed a thousand years ago, but the Water Prison Technique was only included in the Taixu Gate by a ’True Man Yi’ over a hundred years ago.”

”This ’True Man Yi’ is a senior of the Feather Transformation Realm from the Yi family, right?”

Elder Yi nodded, ”If you calculate, he should be my uncle.”

”Then about this ’True Man Yi’, where did he find this Water Prison Technique inheritance, and from whom specifically?” Mo Hua asked.

”Now you’re making things difficult for me...” Elder Yi sighed, ”How would I possibly know about such things.”

”Then...” Mo Hua whispered, ”Could you perhaps ask True Man Yi for me?”

Elder Yi looked at Mo Hua with a meaningful gaze, ”You youngster, did you have this intention from the start?”

Mo Hua smiled awkwardly.

He actually wanted to ask directly, but as a mere disciple, True Man Yi wouldn’t know who he was.

Of course, he actually didn’t know who this True Man Yi was either.

Given that, he could only ask Elder Yi for help.

Elder Yi pondered for a moment, then nodded, ”Alright, I’ll ask for you.”

Mo Hua’s expression lit up with joy, and he immediately said, ”Thank you, Elder Yi!”

Then he patted his chest, ”In the future, if Elder Yi ever has any difficulties, feel free to come to me. As long as it’s something within my capability, I will do my best.”

Elder Yi laughed.

As a dignified Golden Core Cultivator, Elder of Daoist Law at Taixu Gate, how would I need a favor from a mere disciple?

I...

Elder Yi paused.

It seems it’s not entirely impossible...

At least with Elder Master Xun, Mo Hua’s face is more valuable than that of a Golden Core Elder like him.

”Alright!” Elder Yi didn’t put on airs and said cheerfully, ”In the future, if there’s anything, I’ll come to you for help.”

”Yes, yes!” Mo Hua nodded.

”However,” Elder Yi hesitated a bit, ”I can ask for you, but my uncle... or rather, True Man Yi, is passionate about spells and loves to travel the world, collecting various Taoist skills across the Nine State.”

”I don’t even know where my uncle is traveling now. The flying sword transmission might not reach him for some time, and who knows when he might reply—it could be days, months, or even a year or two...”

”That long?” Mo Hua was a bit disappointed.

”It’s a matter of luck,” Elder Yi said, ”After all, the cultivation world is vast, wandering who knows where, and letters may not find their way.”

Mo Hua sighed, ”Alright, it’s the only way...”

Elder Yi nodded, ”Once I have news, I’ll inform you.”

Mo Hua bowed and said, ”Thank you for your trouble, Elder.”

Afterward, Mo Hua attended classes and cultivated as usual.

Unexpectedly, a few days later, during a break, Elder Yi stood at the door, waving at Mo Hua, ”Mo Hua, come.”

In a secluded spot, Elder Yi looked at Mo Hua with a strange expression.

”You kid, you truly have good luck...”

It’s unknown whether heavenly destiny favors him.

Mo Hua’s eyes lit up, ”Did True Man Yi reply?”

”Yes.” Elder Yi nodded, ”My uncle was passing through Kun State, preparing to return to the sect, staying at a Yi family branch when he received my flying sword transmission.”

”According to my uncle, the events of a thousand years ago at the Water Prison Sect also seemed odd to him, but too much time has passed, and both people and things have changed, making it untraceable now.”

”As for the Water Prison Technique, he acquired it by sheer chance...”

”By chance?” Mo Hua was curious.

Elder Yi said, ”Over a hundred years ago, my uncle wasn’t wandering and, having nothing else to do, taught at the Taixu Gate.”

”One day, while visiting a friend and fishing by the river, he came across a cultivator in distress and saved him casually. In gratitude, that cultivator offered all his spirit stones and wealth to my uncle.”

”Such things my uncle wouldn’t care about, so he waved it off, saying saving someone was a small effort not worth remembering. He told him to keep those spirit stones to cultivate well.”

”But that person was very loyal and insisted on repaying the life-saving grace, saying he had nothing except some Daoist cultivation methods passed down from his ancestors. If my uncle didn’t mind, he would repay with these methods.”

”Originally, my uncle didn’t care; as a Taixu Gate Elder of Daoist Law and a Feathered Immortal, he had seen all kinds of spells.”

”But as soon as he saw what the man had, it was something he had truly never seen before...”

”After much deliberation, from the properties of the spell, the meridian flow, and its uses, he deduced that it might be the genuine Water Prison Technique of the Water Prison Sect, very different from the ’castrated’ versions circulating outside.”

”Filled with joy, my uncle asked about the origin of this Water Prison Technique.”

”Yet that man didn’t even know the term ’Water Prison Technique,’ only saying this spell was handed down by his ancestors, its name unknown and extremely difficult to learn, not very effective either, so he kept it like an old relic, remembering it as a family treasure.”

”The origins of the Water Prison Sect, indeed, are not illustrious, and after pondering it, my uncle chose not to mention it.”
