The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1783: Invading the Last Bastion

”Arghkk...”

Under the influence of Adhara’s lethal energy, the Alpha answered Evelyn’s questions.

But his mind and body could only endure a minute at best before he passed out.

Even being near Adhara’s Anti-Werewolf form is already lethal for all werewolves, as even Flunra back then was having a hard time keeping up with the damage. Being injected with a dose directly into the bloodstream would be absolute agony.

Her energy was more lethal than pure silver would be to a werewolf.

And it shows.

It was a shame that Evelyn couldn’t get all the answers to the questions in mind.

”Did you really need to give him that much?” She asked, annoyed.

She still has questions, but the Alpha already passed out before he could answer.

”I barely gave him any,” Adhara argued. ”How do I know he’s that weak?”

Evelyn shook her head and headed back to the Great Army.

Based on what the Alpha said, there will be no peace deal with Princess Selene, as her side was rejecting the Clarentium Empire’s reign absolutely. All of them were under the impression that Rex would be the one to destroy the Werewolf Race’s legacy.

Tainting it with his falsehood.

And frankly, Evelyn wasn’t surprised after everything Rex did to them.

So, there’s no other choice but to go through this last battle.

Upon going over a rock formation, Evelyn was instantly greeted by a scene of soldiers, as far as the eye can see. The Great Army was patiently waiting for her instruction, and all of them were more than eager to win this battle for her.

Even the sight of her made many of their faces light up.

’Did I overuse the scent?’ She thought inwardly, but still retained her neutral smile.

From the side, Sintra approached.

”Your Majesty,” she interrupted, her voice low.

For the last hour or so, she had been scanning the area, probing for the trace of another Shaman.

In a large-scale war like this, Shamans are extremely dangerous, and need to be taken out first due to their inherent power to boost the entire army’s strength. So, it was her responsibility to gauge the kind of Shaman on the other side.

And from her detection, the situation is worse than anticipated.

”There is a War Spell encircling the canyon. By my estimate, she will have at least two Shamans, which were fortifying the War Spell. If we entered the canyon right now, my own War Spell might lose power, giving them a str—”

”Can you deal with it?” Evelyn cut her sentence short with a cold question.

Even though Sintra sounded worried, she knew better than to trust her at face value.

Because of their altercation, she knew her position was shaken.

Disappointing Evelyn would mean Prince Alaric answering to her, or worse, to the Royal Black Prince.

She had been too comfortable voicing her mind that she forgot the dynamic of power tilted heavily toward Evelyn, toward the Silverstar Pack. And this last battle was her time to prove herself as a gesture of apology.

”In my view, you’re saying this to make sure that I know your part in this,” Evelyn added.

”Hehe...” Sintra laughed gravelly. ”Of course, two Shamans are not my match. I can deal with them.”

”Good,” Evelyn looked away and headed to address the Great Army.

Noticing that she was heading towards them, the entire Great Army stopped what they were doing and lined up like trained soldiers. Not a single one of them faltered, almost like each one of them had been trained to work together for years.

But it was their united desire that made them work as one.

A fierce determination to make the empire greater.

More importantly, to make the empress happy by offering her a victory tonight.

”The war had come to its final leg. Our enemies refused our helping hand, clutching hatred of the past,” Evelyn spoke—her voice remained level but reached far and wide. ”They stand against a beginning. They stand against peace. They stand against the inevitable. They stand against us!”

Grunts and growls reverberated through the Great Army.

Each one surged with anticipation.

No more serving the hatred of the past in a new era where they can rebuild from scratch.

Many weren’t directly a part of the battle in the past, but they heard that the emperor’s patience was repeatedly tested by the Scarlet Banes Kingdom. And even through those sufferings, the emperor still allowed the empress to show some mercy.

”Our empire and its people aren’t like them,” Evelyn continued, scanning the excited crowd before her. ”We look into the future that is brighter than they can ever imagine. And for that, it’s our responsibility to bury those who can’t change, those who dwell in the past. Show them the might of the empire.”

A sweet smile climbed onto Evelyn’s face as her eyes glowed purple.

Her body steamed with a light, purplish aura.

”Atop for the empire. Atop for the emperor. Please do win the battle for me.”

Rumble—!

As soon as the last syllable left her lips, the world broke into sound.

It was not a cheer, but a roar—a single, tectonic shout that tore from the thousand throats.

It hit the air like a physical blast, a wave of raw fervor that shuddered the ground and scattered birds. Shields hammered against breastplates in a pounding, chaotic rhythm. Claws and weapons stabbed at the sky.

Even the very canyon seemed to lean in from the force of it, the sound welling into a rolling thunder.

Devoted cheers that were so immense and hungry they felt like a celebration.

It was inevitable for the battle to be won by them.

A sound that Evelyn was glad to hear.

An army that wasn’t only willing to fight, but aching to.

”Huh? What in the world?” Adhara appeared from around the corner, only to be surprised by the sight of the Great Army cheering and even roaring Evelyn’s name to the sky. ”That’s not normal devotion... What did you do to them?’

”Nothing,” Evelyn flicked her hair and turned around to leave. ”I just gave them encouragement.”

”Yeah, right,” Adhara sneered. ”Like I’d believe that.”

Moments later.

Under Valkis’ lead, the Great Army descended toward the Verrathen Canyon and marched onward.

Ambushes came left and right, trying to pick off their number as they advanced.

A hit-and-run tactic that werewolves were known to use against a larger army.

Not to mention, each one was empowered in terms of raw strength and feral intensity by the approaching Blood Moon. It was harder for the lesser rank Supernatural races to trade blows with the werewolves— but Valkis’ suggestion did wonders.

Each time an ambush came, the werewolves clashed against the physically stronger.

From the center, the Elves fired their arrows and helped resist the ambush.

Some of the Alphas possessed King Marks, and some even have troublesome abilities that make them hard to hit. But the ambushes that should be devastating were greatly mitigated due to their line-up, allowing them to lose at most six hundred to a thousand soldiers while dealing a good blow to the opposing side.

Compared to what it should’ve been without the preparations, this was a great outcome.

Growl—!

A pack of werewolves retreated when their Alpha was torn to shreds.

All seven of them were running away on all fours with their tails tucked between their legs, knowing that staying behind would only lead to their deaths. It was especially horrifying as it was only the work of one werewolf.

One that should be an Alpha Prime.

Mavok munched on the Alpha under him and then raised his gaze, fixing on the running pack.

Blood dripped from his mouth as his eyes glowed brighter from the excitement.

He plunged his hand into the Alpha’s corpse and tore free the heart—the only morsel he considered as a delicacy in an urgent situation like this. As he devoured it, the thick, coppery warmth coated his tongue and the roof of his mouth.

In response, the Blood Moon King Mark on his forehead ignited with a deadly, gleaming light.

Swoosh—!

Mavok reached the running Betas in an instant.

And with his claws, he sliced them to pieces, drenching and revelling at their blood.

One of them slipped past his claws by making a sudden turn.

Mavok tumbled across the ground from the sudden stop, spewing dust everywhere.

He found his footing soon, eyes fixated on his prey, and drove his claws deep into the dirt to pivot.

In the same motion, he launched himself at the last Beta.

Seeing the glistening red claws that burned with immense kingly energy, the Beta scrambled back, but Mavok’s claws were already closing around its leg like iron shackles—anchoring it and stripping away its speed.

Roar!

A pitiful roar escaped the Beta’s mouth, growling at Mavok in defiance.

But Mavok climbed the body, stabbing each inch with his claws until he reached the heart, killing it.

Like earlier, he harvested the heart to devour it.

As he raised his gaze and looked ahead, he tilted his head, seeing an odd scene.

In the same way he came from, the other soldiers, along with the Great Army, approached.

Evelyn, Adhara, and Gistella reached the head of the column where the road ended.

As they looked to the side, their expressions hardened.

Blocking the way to the main square was a massive, churning wall of mist. It was unnaturally dense—a solid-looking vortex so thick it seemed you could press your hand against it. The swirl rose—like a living barrier, deliberately coiled to halt the advance of the entire Great Army.

All three Silverstar Pack members approached the column of mist.

Behind them, the leaders commanded the Great Army to take a better position to face the wall of mist.

Each legion was stacked against the others.

No words exchanged about the mist, only orders from the leaders.

However, everyone instinctively knew that this was where their main battle would be.

Beyond the wall of mist should be the main square, which would also be where the main opposing force would be. Scouts could be seen earlier along the way—so the main force should know how formidable the Great Army was.

It would be wise to surrender.

But as the Alpha from earlier stated, Princess Selene is not going to give up.

And her stubbornness would drag countless others down with her.

Impatient, Adhara’s entire body exploded with violent bursts of violet flames.

She summoned her spirit, a flaming violet serpent, and pointed ahead.

HISS—!

Almost instantly, the flaming serpent shot forward, slithering ahead with extreme speed as it narrowed into a searing arrow of violet fire that slammed into the wall of mist. In the next second, the column of mist ignited from within—the unnatural, devouring flames clawed up through the swirling grey.

It painted the heart of the fog with a deep, spreading, and malevolent purple glow.

And at the peak of the invasion, the flames exploded from within.

Splash—!

Adhara shattered the wall of mist, dispersing the grey to the area like vacating ghosts.

Sensing the energy that flared out from the main square, Gistella immediately stepped before Evelyn—protecting her with a bluish barrier that manifested from thin air. She also transformed into her Werewolf as scales emerged like a second layer of skin.

On the other hand, behind, the Great Army braced for battle.

A unified, thunderous clank of metal as thousands of soldiers lowered their stances.

All ready for the coming impact.

Even Adhara transformed, allowing her crippling energy to erupt forward.

Her pristine white fur, that glazed with an iron sheen, came into view.

In a battle against werewolves, she’s the perfect person who should stand at the very front of the army.

Once the mist cleared from view, the opposing forces finally emerged.

And almost instantly, Evelyn’s brows dipped into a frown as she could tell this was not going to be easy.

’That’s more than I expected...’
