The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1753: Now You Die!

Anger pounded hard inside Rex’s heart.

Everything that led to this moment was secretly driven by the selfish goal of one person.

Rex had encountered multiple Angels—before he ever met Stelios, and from those Angels, he’d gleaned more than most beings in the new era ever would about the forgotten Angel Race. One of the things he learned was their race’s power—holy energy.

It was the same energy Stelios was emanating right now.

But the transition the Angels were experiencing due to Void’s initiative changed that energy.

Now, Angels, or rather, Dark Angels, used profane energy.

A unique energy with an unknown source.

Based on what he knew about the Angels, Void has forced the remaining Angels to accept this new way and transition to becoming—Dark Angels. Everyone was forced. Even some Archangels were killed to show that he was serious.

And those who aren’t willing ran, creating the rebellion force that clung to the First Light.

Despite that significant change in power, Stelios remained true to his roots.

Stelios still used the holy energy.

It had always been odd for Rex—Stelios had been assigned to watch over the Zahara Consortium, the Tabaxis, so he should be a part of the Dark Angels who followed the First Darkness. Yet he still used the holy energy.

Now, at last, the truth clicked into place.

And the answer was far more self-serving than he could’ve ever imagined.

Stelios restrained himself from transitioning like the others, not because he was loyal to the First Light, but perhaps because he had a special privilege that no other Angels had. No, in reality, it was because he wanted to do the last hunt, to give himself a poetic ending as a Werewolf Hunter.

In order to achieve that, he restrained himself from transitioning and gaining more power.

Now, he even sacrificed millions of lives to cross over to the Spirit Realm.

All because of what? His passion? Rex wouldn’t accept it.

For the longest time, he had been fighting so that he could grow stronger and protect the others.

But this time... He has another reason.

Stelios must die because he was too destructive to be left alive.

The Fifthborn might view himself as superior to the other races, but he still carried a hunger only the world and the people in it could satisfy. Adoration, reverence, worship... those were cravings he could never fulfill in isolation.

Only by meddling with the others could he feed that need.

On the other hand, Stelios only has selfish goals.

Leaving him alive would be the same as leaving a ticking bomb unattended.

He has to die today.

Rex’s eyes bulged with determination as he stared at the Archangel of Knives; his eyes which were red earlier, started to flicker into a different color. One that made Stelios’ eyes sparkle with excitement— sensing the devastating bloodlust coming from his last prey.

”You’re starting to look more and more adequate—for my last prey,” Stelios commented, grinning from ear to ear, pleased that Rex was starting to become determined to kill him. ”A prey will fight the hardest once cornered, but from the way I see it, you’re not totally cornered right now.”

Flick!

Nonchalantly, Stelios flicked his fingers.

And following that, the golden clouds swirled, creating a gaping hole at the center.

Something began to descend.

Rex could already hear the sound of chains clanking against one another.

It was high above, and normal people could barely see it, but Rex could see it without a problem.

A person bound in chains could be seen descending from the clouds.

Someone familiar. Someone Rex recognized instantly. Someone who made his chest feel tight.

”A-April...?”

Before Rex could fully grasp what he was seeing, Amanir’s long ears blocked his vision.

He shot to cover Rex’s eyes instinctively the moment he saw what was hovering in the sky.

Amanir lunged in front of him, pressing his entire body against Rex’s line of sight.

His long ears unfurled like a curtain and swept around Rex’s head, sealing away every possible angle, every possible glimpse of the sky. One ear clamped the back of Rex’s skull, while the other forced his chin down until he was staring straight into Amanir’s eyes.

”Don’t look,” Amanir hissed, breath tight with urgency.

Of course, he did this not for his own sake, but for the disaster shimmering beneath Rex’s skin.

Rex’s breathing hitched and spiraled, dangerously close to full-blown hyperventilation.

”What... April...?”

”No, don’t even think about it. Just forget about it.”

”Haah... Haah!”

Boom!

Amanir gritted his teeth hard as Rex’s entire body began to sizzle with life energy—and voidal energy that felt like flames licking his skin. He could withstand it, but any more than this and there’s no stopping Rex anymore.

”Rex. Listen to me. Keep your anger in check, and don’t look up until you’re ready.”

”Haah... April...!”

Rex trembled violently under Amanir’s grip.

His breaths came in rough bursts, each inhale sharper, louder, and more ragged than the last.

Even his shoulders rose and fell in frantic heaves as if he were suffocating on the air itself.

Sweat poured from his chin and evaporated.

”What are you even doing...?” Stelios’ amused voice crept from behind, finding entertainment to watch Amanir’s struggle to keep Rex’s anger in check. ”Why are you stopping him from going berserk? Let him go. Don’t ruin my opera.”

Amanir glared at Stelios, fury pulsing inside his veins.

A grunt escaped his lips when Rex gripped his ears hard, claws digging into his soft tissues.

”Amanir—let go,” Rex rasped—voice cracking with unfiltered anger. ”I’m going to rip him to shreds... I’m going to eat him alive for what he has done!”

”Rex. Listen to me. Regulate your anger. Channel it. Don’t look up until you’re ready.”

”As long as he dies, I don’t care...”

”You have to care!” Amanir gripped Rex’s skull tighter—frustration and fury escaping at the same time. ”You cannot lose yourself to anger. You cannot! Do you understand?! Empress Morgana is here. If you lose control, if you snap now... if you so much as graze her with the fallout, everything you worked for will be gone! Gone!!”

”The empire will hunt you down! You’ll not be able to rescue Devo! You’ll not find Linthia! GONE!!”

Hearing this, Rex’s jaw quivered as he tried to collect himself.

But it was hard, very hard.

”I can’t, Amanir... I can’t breathe,” Rex said with a shaky voice that collapsed into a half-growl and half-gasp. His pupils shrank to pinpoints, then bloomed wide, then narrowed again. Veins bulged along his neck as his eyes flickered violently between red and gold. ”I can’t breathe...”

Amanir cursed under his breath and grabbed Rex by the face.

He dragged Rex closer until their foreheads nearly touched.

”Stay here. Stay with me,” He ordered, voice dropping to a low, urgent rumble. ”Don’t think about the Archangel of Knives right now. He won’t attack, not while you’re like this. So, focus on yourself. You are a Werewolf. Your anger is a flood, and once it bursts, I can’t stop you. You’re the only one who can stop it.”

But Rex wasn’t listening.

Not fully.

His body was twitching with every heartbeat, threatening to turn into his Werewolf form and more.

Even though he only caught a glimpse before Amanir blocked his vision, the sight still burned the center of his soul. Just thinking about it is making him dizzy, and also swelling the anger inside him. A body in the sky. A sword of chaos. April’s face. Her blood.

Rex’s claws stabbed deeper into Amanir’s ears.

And without him noticing, his teeth sharpened, and horns began to emerge from his head.

”If you lose control now, you doom her as someone who messed up your goals. Do you want her to bear that burden?” Amanir asked again, fighting through the pain, trying to make Rex stop himself from going berserk. ”Do you hear me? She doesn’t want that. Hold on. Just hold on.”

”But she’s no more....”

”No, you don’t know that!”

At that moment, Rex’s body shook—every muscle trembled under the strain of restraint.

Right on the brink—one blink away from total frenzy, Rex’s breath stopped.

It alarmed Amanir.

But when he looked at Rex properly, he realized something was different.

”I’m the only one—who can stop it...?” Rex muttered, and then his eyes widened in realization as he recalled what Kei Xun told him about when the trial starts. ”No, there’s someone else—who’s better at managing my anger.”

Rex stared at Amanir directly and then nodded firmly before pushing him to the side.

No matter what, he would never be ready.

However, there was someone else inside him that always dwelt in an unbelievable amount of anger.

Kei Xun said that when the trial starts, he should let go of control.

And that’s exactly what he’s going to do.

”Just don’t harm Empress Morgana until that disgusting Angel is dead.”

Rex’s words rattled like loose chains in a storm, barely coherent beneath the roar swelling his skull.

Beside him, Amanir could hear his words.

It sounded like he was pleading to himself, but Amanir knew that there was something more.

As the words drifted through the wind, Rex’s muscles began to bulge, stretching his skin and tendons. His spin arched with a violent crack, shoulders widening as fur rippled up his arms and body like waves in the middle of the ocean.

Growls escaped his lips.

Just as his human silhouette teetered on the edge of vanishing, another voice answered.

It came from the same body, the same mouth, the same vocal cords—but it was not his own.

”Leave it to me...”

Amanir could feel a shiver run down his spine when the words came out guttural, deep, chilling enough to shudder through the ground itself.

His aura then detonated in the same instant—an eruption of raw fury that tore through the chamber like a shockwave. Marble fissured beneath his feet. Stone walls cracked. Dust rained from the peak—as the air itself warped around him.

Rex’s entire demeanor changed.

He snapped his head upward, fully embracing the form he had tried so hard to restrain.

Golden irises bloomed like molten lava, locking onto the horror above without a flicker of hesitation.

Above him, way above him, was April, who was hung in golden chains—she was naked, motionless, and there was a massive black greatsword that pierced through her chest, all the way to the back. Rex could sense the energy coming from it—profane energy.

A sword that belonged to a Dark Angel, a powerful one at that.

Someone down in the Mortal Realm was helping Stelios, and that detail is burned into Rex’s memory.

Despite the scene, Rex laughed.

It wasn’t happiness. It wasn’t madness. It was the sound of something done with restraint entirely.

The Invincible Apparition could feel this burning energy rising up from deep within him, the fury that was drawn from the deepest part of him at the sight of April’s condition. It was invigorating, pleasing—and seemed to be endless.

For the years he spent with April in that Forsaken Tower, the anger that came out was appropriate.

It could even match the unforgettable night and even the time when Edward was taken away.

And for the Invincible Apparition, this was what he wanted all along.

Unrestrained rage that kept on rising like a high tide that never ends.

Rex bared his fangs and pointed at the Archangel of Knives—while the Red Dawn of Kaiser manifests on his hands, eyes glowing with a maniacal light. His power skyrockets with a blast, overpowering the golden hues of the sky.

”Archangel of Knives!”

He roared, lips curling with intense euphoria mixed with bloodlust.

”Now, you die!!”

Boom!
