The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1734: One Request

Slowly, the seething emerald aura that blazed across Rex’s body dissipated.

And when it did, he finally opened his eyes.

Just as he expected, eating the berry showed important memories about the other person, which was, in this case, Princess Davina. Not only that, but he could also feel what she was feeling so vividly, almost like he was the one feeling it.

In the memories that Princess Davina buried deeply, there was one part that stood out the most.

Rex saw the time when her mother died.

She didn’t die dramatically.

Everyone in the whole House of Castillon knew that she was nearing her end.

Knew that she was only counting days.

So, when she died, none of them were surprised.

She died a graceful death—on the bed while being surrounded by every member of her family that she loved deeply. For someone like her, she couldn’t ask for a better death than this. Nothing is better than dying peacefully with everyone she loved around her.

And what scarred Princess Davina wasn’t the death of her mother.

Even at a tender age, she had already made peace with her mother’s condition.

But what scarred her the most was seeing Duke Lorcan crying profusely beside the bed.

He clutched his wife’s hand tightly and wept, ignoring everyone around him.

Princess Davina was surprised to see this sight, as she had always thought Duke Lorcan would be the one consoling his children and family. But right now, he was the one being consoled by his family, and that broke something in her.

Normally, he was always stern and always squared his shoulders.

He brought the air that nothing could break him.

For the moment, Princess Davina was born until she was at the time, she never saw Duke Lorcan break that façade of strength. Like the whole world could try crushing him, but he would never bow down to it, no matter what.

And yet, Duke Lorcan now crumbled, and that scarred Princess Davina deeply.

Ever since that day, Duke Lorcan began to grow softer and softer.

She hated this change and voiced it constantly, but there has never been any real change to him.

Only that he hid his weakness better.

Duke Lorcan is struggling, and I understand that, but who would’ve thought it would come to this?

But then again, Princess Davina was always taught to be strong.

Seeing the notifications, Rex walked out of the magical banyan tree’s canopy—and looked at the clear night sky. Just like what Princess Davina said, this world has multiple moons, not only one. And each one infused him with more power.

Even earlier, his body already noticed an increase in moonlight energy.

But now, the increase is simply a lot more significant.

Like in the Mortal Realm, there was one big moon, which should be the main moon.

As for the other two moons, they were on either side of the main moon and are also further away.

One was less than half the size of the main moon, while the other is a tenth of the main moon.

One translucent blue and the other greenish.

Rex could feel his body was accepting the blessing from each of the moons, making his regeneration a lot stronger than normal. He reckoned resting two days here would surely mend his body to normal, and that’s the best thing he could ever ask for.

Pivoting around, he found Princess Davina standing by the tree.

She had been resting from the looks of it, and now that he was awake, she stood up again.

Immediately after their eyes met, the two of them knew that this was their boiling point.

Unlike earlier, the air between them has become unbearably tense.

Both of them were standing across from the other, but for some reason, they felt incredibly far away.

Princess Davina knew what was inside Rex’s heart, and Rex knew what was inside her heart.

And both desires didn’t align.

I also got to know about the prophecy. I don’t know if I’m really the one, but I’m sure she believed so.

Rex didn’t come here for any relationship, and he even regretted getting too close to April—in those ten years inside the Forsaken Tower. As a matter of fact, he was now leaning towards leaving everything he had come to know in this realm behind.

A clean break.

Let the realm and everyone who crossed his path forget about him for good.

It’s for the better.

Rex and Princess Davina had only known each other for less than a month, so there’s no need for them to continue this when they were too far apart in hearts. One has the responsibility to protect many, while the other seeks a powerful figure who can lead the House of Castillon.

To be the heir of Duke Lorcan.

Someone who Rex cannot be, as he has responsibilities back in the Mortal Realm.

Considering their relationship, he has no problem leaving Princess Davina behind.

Even before he participated in the tournament, he already knew that he would leave Princess Davina when he got what he wanted. No chance he’s going to go through with the marriage, especially considering the others were waiting for him.

Not to mention, he would soon have a daughter.

It’s best to end it now.

Princess Davina braced herself and took a few hesitant steps forward.

”Are you.... Leaving the moment you got what you needed?”

”Yes.”

Rex’s voice was firm with no room for negotiation.

Before she asked, she could already tell what his answer would be, but hearing it directly from him still stung her heart. Her eyes trailed down to the ground as she recalled the words that her sister Liliana told her back then.

If the one fated for her was as incredible as prophesied, then he wouldn’t be someone who would settle down.

Princess Davivna wanted it to be wrong badly, but reality proved otherwise.

Settling down with the one fated for her was nothing but a hopeful dream, not reality.

Seeing the sadness on her face, Rex exhaled lightly.

Since when have I become like this? Emotional? Is the All-Seeing Orb still affecting me?

Even though leaving her would leave a bitter taste, he reckoned that he could.

But on the other hand, he knew that Princess Davina would take it a lot harder than he would once they were separated for good.

Just like him, she was also the kind of person who believed in these kinds of things—prophecies, taboos, old teachings. Seeing a loved one taken the shape of a wolf is a death flag; that’s one of the things Rex fervently believed in.

Some might think he was hallucinating, but if he saw it right now, he would certainly panic.

Likewise, failing the prophecy for Princess Davina must’ve been extremely painful to bear for her.

And it doesn’t feel right if Rex didn’t at least help her get over it.

”If you want to be with me, then you will have to come with me to the Mortal Realm. I cannot allow you to stay here where I can’t protect you directly, as I don’t like leaving the protection of the people I care about in others’ hands,” Rex said firmly, gaze sharpening as a warning. ”Are you willing to leave your life and everyone you knew behind?”

Princess Davina didn’t react much.

She stood rigidly, expression vacant, as the answer should be obvious.

”No, I can’t leave everyone behind.” She answered truthfully.

”Right?” Rex smirked. ”Fundamentally, neither of us is the type to submit to another. It’s best for us to let this become a sweet and eventful memory.”

”Don’t be sad about this, I’m not worthy of your emotions.” Rex looked down and shook his head; he was not as perfect as Princess Davina thought he was, and he’s going to tell her. ”You’re no doubt one of the strongest people I know, and your future is brighter than mine. In fact, it’s best for you to forget me and everything we’ve gone through. I’m not worth remembering.”

”I’m, after all,” He raised her gaze to look at her again. ”Not a good person.”

Princess Davina’s eyes flickered for a second and then widened.

Her mind churned when she heard what Rex said.

It seemed she realized something, but Rex was oblivious to this realization.

”In case this will make you feel a lot better leaving me, you’re looking at him...” Rex pointed at himself with his index finger, making sure Princess Davina really understood. ”You’re looking at the one who massacred the Arcalen and Narsa House.”

Both of the houses were under Princess Davina’s reign.

She even decided to take matters of finding the person who was responsible for massacring more than ten thousand vassals of the empire. Of course, with her benevolent heart, it was clear that she would punish the one responsible appropriately.

Death penalty.

It should be easier for her to leave now that she knows Rex was a cold-blooded killer.

That the people who cursed him as a usurper of the realm were the ones correct all this time.

Above all else, Princess Davina loved her people.

Even though the Arcalen and Narsa House weren’t really good people, as Rex even gave them a chance to let him go so that he could drop this, they were still people of the empire, and Princess Davina would not let this go.

Especially not when most of them were innocents.

Of course, Rex took a big risk by telling her this, as she could easily suppress him right now and even kill him in an instant. But knowing Princess Davina—he reckoned he could ask her to let him get what he needed first before killing him.

Out of respect for what they shared, she would at least give him that mercy.

However, his confession didn’t seem to incite the reaction he was expecting from Princess Davina.

As a matter of fact, she didn’t seem to be that surprised by this.

”I know...” Princess Davina answered with a level tone.

Rex’s brows furrowed in confusion as she shouldn’t know about this. ”You knew...? How? When?”

”Just a few seconds ago,”

”A few seconds ago?”

”Regardless, you’re not a bad person. I can tell that you’re not, but you’re acting like you are to make it easier for me to let you go.”

”If you’re talking about the mission—I did all of that for my own agenda. Empress Morgana can’t fall or else I’ll not get what I need, that’s all.”

From an outsider’s perspective, he might be saving the nobles driven by duty alone as a knight, but that wasn’t really the same. He did that to maintain Empress Morgana’s standing, and on top of that, he also has the chain sudden quest from the System.

Saving the nobles doesn’t change the fact that he’s a bad person.

”Does saving April also fall within your grand agenda? And Ethan? What of the people of the holy land? Is saving those people done out of necessity?” Princess Davina lifted a brow—the gesture elegant yet unmistakably challenging, as though daring him to fashion excuses. ”Or is provoking my anger—making me despise you right now, a part of your plan too?”

Rex’s lips were sealed as he couldn’t say anything to that.

None of those were a means to reach his own agenda, or required by the System.

It was all him.

”No matter what you said, I know who you are. All the bad things you do are nothing more than what has to be done to keep you and those close to you safe,” Princess Davina stepped closer—until she was a step away from him, looking up into his eyes. ”You’re not going to force me to come with you, and I’m not going to force you to stay. But I have on request.”

”What is it?”

”I want you to turn me into a Werewolf.”
