The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1556: Infiltrating Imla City

Gelmar and Vivian sat across from Iris and the Queen.

A tense silence enveloped the room.

One that made them feel like someone was strangling their necks and blocking out their airway.

Exhaling deeply from her nose, the Queen parted her lips and broke the silence.

”I heard what had happened. And on behalf of the kingdom, I am asking both of you to help resolve this situation. The King is still in seclusion, and I donʼt want him coming out to a destroyed kingdom. I am sure Captain Gelmar understands our situation clearly…”

Gelmar averted his gaze.

He knew that the Dark Elves were on their last leg, and a mistake like this, though it wasnʼt entirely their fault, would end them altogether. It wasnʼt a discussion as to what would happen if Kyran knew. Heʼll destroy this kingdom.

And to stop him from doing so would mean going against the Clarentium Empire.

”I hope you can put in some words to His Majesty, and ask for his help…”

Upon hearing this, Iris shifted on her seat.

Nobody in this kingdom knew other than Qonvale and herself that Rex wasnʼt around.

Heʼs in the Spirit Realm and couldnʼt help resolve this issue.

Gelmar sighed exasperatedly.

”I apologize to be the bearer of bad news, but the Emperor is not available right now. I donʼt know how long, but I reckoned he would be absent for at least a week or perhaps more.” Seeing how the Queenʼs face darkened in worry, he quickly added. ”But donʼt worry, weʼll help you resolve this.”

”In that case, should we keep it a secret until the Emperor comes back?” Iris leaned forward and added.

Keeping Naelaʼs current condition a secret might do the trick.

”No, that will not be wise. Kyran is currently with the Empress, and he can come back at any time. Itʼll be a lot worse if he knows by himself—so weʼll have to tell him somehow… In a way that is safe, and wouldnʼt let him go berserk.”

”And how can we do that?”

”We tell him the bad news in front of the Empress. Sheʼs the only one who can calm him down.”

”In that case, Iʼll prepare our transport to meet with the Empress.”

Not wasting a single second, Iris stood up and excused herself.

Once she left the room, Vivian intervened with a troubled face, recalling that Richard was still around.

”Going there together wouldnʼt achieve anything, I think someone needs to stay here.” She suggested.

”I think my presence is needed there,” The Queen replied, clasping her hands together—underneath the table out of nervousness while still maintaining a composed face. ”As it happened in my land, itʼs the least my kingdom could do.”

”Then, before you go, tell someone to heal Lady Naela,” Vivian added. ”It would certainly help.”

Even though itʼs going to be risky, they decided to be honest.

All of them could only hope that Kyran would be able to take this amicably without violence.

Later that night.

Kyran was squatting on a tree branch, looking down at the scattered corpses of twenty people.

One scan and he noticed that this group consists of Tigerman and Dwarves.

Most of them were around the sixth-rank realm, and with the War Spell cast by an Alpha Prime that would boost the strength of those—who were marked, these people were far stronger than a sixth-rank realm.

Perhaps, it would be more appropriate to say that they have the power of a pseudo-seventh-rank realm.

But even so, all of them were killed.

Most of them were dismembered—their limbs were severed by something sharp and precise.

Claws.

And to top it off, their blood was cleaned spotless, leaving behind only their dry corpses.

”In order to keep the main camp safe, Evelyn sent out scouting parties to roam around and keep at least a mile from the main camp secured,” Kyran muttered aloud; his dark element blending him with the night perfectly. ”Someone has been picking on these groups before they could send a danger signal, and they are also meticulous.”

Since the scent of blood could be smelled from afar, it was cleaned before it stained the air.

Averting his gaze, Kyran moved again.

Along the way, his extremely sharp hearing ability caught the sound of a battle and muffled screams.

Kyran stepped on the branch hard, his foot breaking it as he launched himself to the side.

It took a couple of leaps before he neared the battle.

He stopped a few hundred meters away from the battle when he noticed a few hiding entities.

Though their auras were slight, and their energies concealed, Kyran could smell them.

Werewolves, and there are two of them.

”I see… Itʼs a pack,” Kyranʼs eyes narrowed sharply.

Even though these two Werewolves thought they were hiding, fully masked by a spell, the work of a shaman from the looks of it, Kyran could see them easily. ”Some of the strong ones fought the roaming group, while the sharp ones kept a lookout. An attempt to thin our number down.”

Smiling evilly, exposing his sharp fangs, Kyran stepped back and melded into the darkness.

Meanwhile, one of the hidden Werewolves prowled behind the cover of a bush.

It has been two minutes, and the battle should be nearing its end.

Fortunately, the enemy hasnʼt made a counter to their skirmish—thereʼs no one around to stop them.

Just then, the wind blew from the opposite direction.

”Itʼs hotter…” He murmured lightly, confused as the night wind should be cold.

Glancing at a particular tree behind, where the other Werewolf was supposed to be, he frowned when he saw a shadow nearing that particular spot. Turning around, the Werewolfʼs pupils constricted, focusing on the shadow.

He was making sure that he was seeing it right.

But as he leaned forward to see clearly, the shadow dissolved, easing the tension in his chest.

”Sigh… I must be seeing things.”

Turning to the others, who were massacring another group from the enemy camp, the Werewolf nodded as it seemed the last one was about to fall. Since they have an Alpha Prime with them, this should have been expected.

Nobody could pose a threat, at least nobody who was tasked with roaming like this.

Just as he was about to focus on his side, his eyes caught sight of a figure falling from a tree.

It was the other Werewolf!

An icicle could be seen penetrating his chest, and as he fell, his body gradually turned to ash.

”AMBUSH!!”

Almost instantly, the Werewolf shouted without restraint, alerting the others who were finishing up.

One of them, the largest and strongest of them, a hulking Werewolf far surpassing even Alphas, paused mid-feast. His piercing yellow eyes snapped to the source of the shout, and with a reluctant snarl, he tore his fangs free from the Elfʼs neck, blood dripping from his maw.

Most Werewolves are fierce and scary, but this one... he was visceral.

His fur was standing like a cat, making him seem bigger than he was supposed to be.

And it also made his appearance seem rough, unkempt, and certainly used to battles.

”Krynda, whatʼs your order?”

”Fight, what else could there be? More food for us!”

Hearing the contrasting desire from the other Werewolves, Krynda scanned the tall trees around him.

Dropping the Elf corpse, moonlight energy surged into his nose as he inhaled deeply.

Like a perfect beast, he could register all scents from around him, starting from the other Werewolves, the unique plants and trees around, and even the scent of mutated insects hiding in the ground. He could pinpoint every single one of them with great accuracy, like a built-in radar.

But he snarled when he realized he couldnʼt smell the scent of the enemy.

For once, he didnʼt know who ambushed them and how many there were.

”Retreat.” He said with a baritone voice, turning to flee. ”Gather the pack and retreat. Enough feasting.”

Despite being usually known as bloodthirsty, all Alpha Primes were, Krynda instructed them to retreat.

And without a question, the entire pack of ten Werewolves retreated.

Something was off about that situation, and Krynda wasnʼt going to risk it, especially considering that he heard the Silverstar Pack is a pack of misfits. All of the members have bizarre powers that branched away from the regular path to power for Werewolves.

Against such an enemy, caution is key, and he exercised it greatly.

Oblivious to him, there was a shadow following the pack silently.

Several minutes later, the pack arrived back at Imla City and immediately went to the barracks.

None of them were wounded to the point that their regeneration was exhausted, but they needed to make a report about this very first skirmish. As Krynda and the pack stepped inside, Kyran, who was following them, paused near the entrance.

He scanned the place—multiple guards, packs roaming around, and shamans fortifying the walls.

It was clear that they were preparing for the unavoidable clash as fast as they could.

Being taught by Edward how to sneak into enemy territory, which mainly championed—awareness, he came to the decision that infiltrating Imla City was possible. Kyran faced ahead, regulating his breaths for a moment before he made his move.

ʼOnce Imla City and the fortress fall, Iʼll have a brief moment to go back,ʼ Kyran thought and nodded, using Naela as his motivation to finish this as soon as possible, as he did with the other cities throughout the entire day. ʼValkis should be here soon, so I have to move fast.ʼ

Kyran made his move.

First, still regulating his dark element, he approached the nearest solitary guard and killed him silently.

He stabbed his claws into the Werewolfʼs neck.

Despite being strong physically, there were no Werewolves who held a weapon and also wore armor, making killing them easy as long as the element of surprise was present. Normally, nobody could get this close to a Werewolf, but Kyran is the exception.

Although the Werewolves have no armor, some wear bands and trinkets, which might help Kyran blend in.

And this particular Werewolf wore a tattered cloak, its hood draped low enough to conceal his unusual form. His Werewolf form bore four piercing azure eyes—a trait far too distinct to go unnoticed even in a place full of Werewolves.

So he needed this cloak.

Once he changed, he sneaked inside, acting nonchalant as he walked through the side gate.

Everywhere he turned, there was always a fight between Werewolves.

Humans would call this chaotic, but the Werewolves here would say that this is a type of bonding.

One that would help them be fearless in battles as long as they are side by side.

Finding Krynda was easy with Kyranʼs nose.

He followed the scent and listened attentively to what was being discussed inside the city.

Though this city now belonged to the Werewolves, it had once been a city of Humans, so the architecture was very familiar to Kyran. Kyran stood outside, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, and listened to the discussion through the open window.

Due to the rush to prepare the city, the Werewolves were careless.

No formation to block anyone from eavesdropping, and thatʼs a fatal mistake in Kyranʼs book.

Minutes later, Kyran got what he needed and watched Krynda walk out.

Wrapped around his upper arm was a broken yellow band.

From Kyranʼs observation, he noticed that the bands were some kind of identification.

It states which pack the Werewolf belongs to.

Not mandatory though, as some Werewolves were not wearing any band—but since Krynda wore one, everything became easier. Kyran followed Krynda and his pack until they reached a house, which should be their compound.

As he was about to make a move, he stopped when he noticed a female Werewolf approaching.

And from the band on her arm, the broken yellow band, coupled with the pliant aura she was exuding—it was clear who she was. Kyran smirked as he now had the ticket to finish the city off; all he needed to do was wait for the right moment to strike.
