The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1523: Always Done Your best

Kei Xun continued.

She extracted Linthiaʼs Soul Artifact, ignoring the raw, throaty scream coming from her.

ʼSuffer this pain and forfeit, child... Donʼt fight it,ʼ She thought dearly, gazing at Rex with soft, tender eyes, as if she was also feeling the same pain as he felt right now. A pitying gaze, but contained hope. ʼLet this pain break you so you donʼt need to feel the pain in the future, that is waiting for you as long as youʼre in this race, on this road.ʼ

ʼIʼm giving you a chance...ʼ Kei Xun thought, shedding a tear. ʼOne that I didnʼt have back then when I was young, naive, and ambitious.ʼ

It was for the best.

At least for Kei Xun, this would help Rex in the long run.

Believing it with fervor, she gripped Linthiaʼs Soul Artifact tighter and pulled harder.

Linthia screamed louder, the pain was beyond imagining.

Rex could do nothing in this situation, and the death of Linthia would hopefully break his will.

Only then could he see reason and meaning behind her actions.

Just then, Kei Xun was surprised by a warm wind.

”Hmm? Such warmth…” A frown crept to her face. ”It shouldnʼt be possible.”

Considering she has the Sun Echo and has cultivated his Soul Artifact with it beyond what most spirits could achieve in their entire lives, she had lost the ability to feel warm or hot. Nothing is hotter—than her sunlight, and not a lot of things could go through her sunlight either.

So this warm wind caught her off guard.

Then, she looked ahead and realized that it came from Rex.

”Child… Can you still not accept reality?” Kei Xun asked, this time, she was impatient. ”Iʼve more, a lot more than a thousand years over you in the race. Nothing, I mean nothing, can help you even near my power. Donʼt force me to kill h-”

Swish!

Kei Xunʼs words halted when she saw a fleeting flash of something firing into the sky.

She paused in confusion before tilting her head up to see what it was.

It should be a trick her mind was playing on her, nothing should be able to move that quickly.

Her eyes should be able to perceive everything, so it must be an illusion.

She mustʼve seen it wrong.

For a brief second, she couldnʼt see anything and thought her assumption was correct.

But then, the entire dark sky, along with the smoke of the Black Rift, lit up with an extremely brilliant light. It was so bright that everything as far as the eyes could see lit up, like the sun was finally able to shine through the darkness.

However, the light wasnʼt golden, but striking silver instead.

Kei Xunʼs expression changed.

Not because the surroundings lit up, but because of what caused this phenomenon.

A glaring eye appeared above—a silver full moon that blocked the celestial bodies that were supposed to be there. One could feel the amount of power that manifested in the silvery full moon. It was Godly, the kind of amount that was even able to make Kei Xun shudder.

”What is this…?” She rasped, a bead of cold sweat running down her face.

As she squinted to focus on seeing what kind of construct this silver full moon was, her heart skipped a beat when she realized what it was, ”A Divine Radix?!” She exclaimed in shock, but it was even worse than she assumed when she realized the silver full moon turned solid.

It turned into an actual moon.

”No… this level of detail,” She unconsciously took a step back. ”Itʼs a Primordial Radix!”

Kei Xun thought that Rex had a protector.

But when she traced her gaze down and looked back at Rex, she realized that it was all his.

First, her eyes fixed on the Red Dawn of Kaiser, which has now manifested completely, and became one with Rexʼs hands. Second, she turned to the golden halo that was now thicker and brimming with more power, also manifesting completely. Then, her eyes landed on the Mask of the Banished Eclipse, which also experienced the same transformation.

A complete manifestation was a sign of a higher-ranking spirit.

A lot higher than Immortal Spirit rank.

Rex shouldnʼt be able to do that, but he did.

Then, her pupils trembled at the sight of a glowing, engraved, almost otherworldly mark—on each of his Soul Artifacts. It took on varying forms, but all supplied another kind of energy, a stronger energy than life energy that spirits usually used.

”Law… He has three Absolute Laws…” Kei Xun muttered in shock.

She was so shocked that she dropped Linthia.

Rex told her the truth earlier, and she was sure.

He said that he was only within the race for a year—and that barely any time for anyone to get stronger. Even reaching Immortal Spirit rank that fast was already quite commendable, really commendable in fact.

However, reaching this level of power, where he could manifest all three Absolute Laws easily like this.

Nobody could pull this off—this should be… impossible.

Despite shown clearly in front of her eyes, Kei Xun couldnʼt believe this, she was in denial.

Soon, Rex stood up straight and looked her in the eyes again.

Unlike before, Kei Xun could feel the pressure from his gaze—it wasnʼt dismissive and child-like like earlier. Now, she could tell that Rex was serious. His battle intent was expanding scarily, and could not be ignored.

Not to mention, the moment he locked gaze with her, the aura around him surged.

CRACK!

Rumble!

One pulse and the earth shattered underneath Rexʼs feet, spreading deep, abyss-like fissures that would swallow anything that got into them. But worse than that, once the pulse brushed past her, some parts of her body, mainly the edges of her fingers, dissipated.

Vaporized by only Rexʼs sheer presence.

It snapped Kei Xun out of her shock and made her remember whose body she was using.

Gritting her teeth, confused and embarrassed, her body glowed with a radiant light.

Swoosh!

Almost instantly, she turned into sunlight and shot away, leaving the place at light speed.

Rex stood there, unbridled anger boiling inside him.

As intended, the Invincible II item propelled him to the height of his potential—which, in this case, in this body, is limitless since he has three powerful SSS grade Soul Artifacts. Even at this moment, when Kei Xun had already left, his power was still increasing.

Even his body was ascending, turning ethereal and Godly as he stood.

Just as the description stated, he would be impervious to all attacks for the next one minute.

Rex wanted to kill or at least severely wound Kei Xun for killing Dame Crimoria and, more importantly, causing pain to Linthia, whom he promised to protect—in this realm. But the Invincible II item has never been an attack item.

It was a defensive item, used to help him get out of impossible situations.

On the road to Invincibility, there would be unfair situations.

And the Invincible II item was the unfair item to help Rex retain his life and gain another chance.

Clutching his fists hard, Rex inhaled deeply before he approached Linthia.

Linthia was lying on the ground weakly, gargling on her own blood due to internal damage.

System, scan her condition.

Upon reading the notifications, Rexʼs eyes bulged and he snapped.

”KEI XUN!!”

He shouted, panting heavily through his mouth, flashing with a frenzied wrath.

”I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME!”

He kept on pain as if breathing needed a conscious effort, licking his lower lips like an animal.

”IʼM GOING TO SEE YOU DIE!”

”KEI XUN!!”

Rex kept on roaring, causing the sky to twist—and swirl with every twitch of his emotion, sending a clear message to Kei Xun. He promised to see her die. Maybe not today, or not tomorrow, but someday, certainly soon, heʼs going to kill her.

Currently, his list of enemies whom he wanted to kill was long.

But he didnʼt hesitate to add Kei Xun to that list.

Before he finishes his business in this realm, heʼll make sure Kei Xun pays.

He didnʼt care if she had a good reason for doing this.

Anyone who hurts those close to him will pay.

Like Rex always said to his foes, hurting him is way more acceptable than hurting those dear to him.

Even the Arcalen House paid with their destruction for being unreasonable and torturing him, so one could only imagine what Rex would do to those who harmed those around him. Soon, as he shouted, calling Kei Xunʼs name as if her name itself was a promise, the invincible Item IIʼs effect faded.

It was a pleasant surprise that the invincible II item has this kind of mechanism.

Basically, if he didnʼt receive any attack during the effect period, the invincible item II will revert to its original version in the form of an invincible strand. Not to mention, the side effects from using it would also not be a problem.

Since it was halved, he should be able to endure it fine.

Then again, Rex didnʼt care about that for now, he was too angry to feel any kind of enthusiasm for this.

”Rex…”

His head snapped to his behind when he heard a light voice calling to him,

It was Linthia.

Almost instantly, Rex took a knee and looked at her worriedly.

She reached out a trembling hand, blood trailing from the corner of her lips, yet even through the pain, she mustered a faint, fragile smile. Rex immediately grabbed her hand, holding it tightly, ”Iʼll make sure youʼll be able to do what you need to do here. I will buy you the time.”

Linthia came here so that she could become stronger.

So that she could continue Dindoraʼs legacy and reach her dream.

No matter what, Rex was going to help her.

However, instead of feeling assured, she became worried.

”Rex, itʼs... It is not your fault,” She said softly, knowing exactly what was going on inside his head right now. ”You canʼt possibly expect this to occur. No chance for you to anticipate her coming here suddenly. Do not use this as another accident you blamed on yourself.”

”I shouldʼve known, if I learn more, ask more, use my intuition more…” Rex gritted his teeth.

He couldnʼt accept that he couldnʼt anticipate this.

Somewhere along the way, he mustʼve missed something that made him unprepared for this.

Since he promised to protect her, he shouldʼve been more thorough.

”No,” Linthia shook her head. ”Itʼs a variable you canʼt predict. Even so, you still did well.”

She put more strength into her grip.

Then, she continued, ”You ward her off, and saved me from death. Thatʼs an achievement.”

Upon hearing this, Rexʼs eyes slightly widened.

His mind was so programmed to shame himself that he failed to see the bright side.

Kei Xun was someone extraordinarily strong; she was a Scion, so naturally, the simple fact of warding her off should be impossible. Had it been anyone else, she would have been able to make her point, kill Linthia, and leave in triumph.

But that didnʼt happen, Rex managed to stop her at the first step.

”Everything bad that happens around you isnʼt always your responsibility,” Linthia added with a soft tone, soothing his broken mind. ”Sometimes youʼre at fault, and sometimes you are not at fault. Regardless of which, you always did your best, and thatʼs all that matters.”

Rex grimaced, but eventually, he nodded his head reluctantly.

At least, Iʼve always done my best, huh…? Is that how everyone sees me?

Meanwhile, emerging from the ruin was a figure.

It was Viora.

She recognized the traces of energy earlier and realized that it was the Saintess.

However, when she saw Rex and the others, her heart sank.

”W- What happened…?”
