The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1512: The Alpha Quest

An entity, the one whose presence was awaited in this battle, finally made her appearance.

It… She suspended above them, way above them, near the highest chamber.

Her eyes were covered by her bangs, her fingers were scarily long and delicate, and she had no legs.

Completing her look was a sabrina dress of pale green and pale blue.

Anyone in the Mortal Realm would mistake her for a Banshee, Ghost, or some sort of Undead Spirit.

But here, in this realm, this creature is a special Voidal Knight—the Singing Lady.

Swish!

Gazing down at the intruders with her pale, unsettling white eyes, the Singing Lady made her move, a subtle wave of her hands. It looked gentle, delicate, but the result was anything but. The aura that was contained within her burst forth, no fancy splash or explosion, only a relentless waterfall of power.

It pressed hard over the intruders like a heavy blanket.

Everyone was surprised.

Viora and Crimoria werenʼt an exception.

”Itʼs at the level of Master Immortal Spirit rank,” Crimoria squinted. ”Stronger than me.”

”Know your limitations,” Viora turned towards the heirs—finding that most of them were shaking at the sheer aura of the Singing Lady. Only April was steadfast, both hands on her weapon. ”If you knew you canʼt handle it, stand near me. Iʼll protect you.”

Even the Voidal Monsters, that attacked blindly earlier, stopped.

All of them climbed upward, crawling on the walls and waiting for the Singing Lady to make her move.

But the new members of the Silverstar Pack—Two, Three, Four, and Five were more rebellious.

Despite no instructions from Rex, all four of them leaped and climbed the walls again, aiming to take care of the Singing Lady, not aware of their difference in strength. However, as the four—neared the top, some of the corpses on the walls opened their mouths.

In an instant, an energy bullet was fired and struck them hard.

Each one of them was so powerful that it pierced through the transformed Voidal Knightsʼ bodies.

Moreover, the bullet was aimed at their vitals—their hearts.

Several notifications appeared, each one awakened something inside of Rex that was more violent and cruel than he had been lately. It was like an important piece of him was being taken away—with each notification that appeared.

Losing a pack member… So this is how it feels.

Rex thought, smiling.

It wasnʼt like losing comrades. It wasnʼt like losing acquaintances.

It was far worse, like a part of his soul had been ripped away without warning, as if an invisible thread inside him had been violently snapped, and with it came an ache so raw, so unnatural, it left him paralyzed for a moment.

None of them he knew deeply, their connections with him were minuscule.

All of them probably wanted to kill him.

But in their deaths, he felt them go, one by one, like phantom limbs being amputated.

He felt every single one of their deaths.

Inside him, the wolf inside him howled, not out of rage, but an instinctual mourning, a desperate cry for bonds now lost to the grave. Perhaps this was the reason why the Werewolves back in the Mortal Realm respected their Alphas.

It was because only a few could handle pain and a sense of loss like this.

Unlike the wolf inside him that valued bonds more than ever, Rex wasnʼt, but he was still burning.

A volcano of wrath was about to erupt, and yet, there was a smile on his face.

It was fortunate that Iʼd never felt this before.

Maybe this is a warning for me—the price of failure.

Rex was grateful that he first sensed this pain—from these new pack members, he was grateful that he didnʼt know this pain until today. Frankly speaking, he couldnʼt even imagine how it would feel to really lose a pack member.

An actual pack member, someone he cared about.

For a moment there, as the notifications came flooding into his vision, and his thoughts spiraled out of control, mixed with the rage, Rexʼs smile faded. His expression turned stone cold, or at least, thatʼs what he thought.

But when he raised his gaze to look at the Singing Lady, his face showed another kind of expression.

He was smiling.

Not the glad smile he wore earlier, this was wicked, and dripped with bloodlust.

Unconsciously, his body began to transform.

First, his ears twitched upright, alert like a beast sensing blood in the wind. His muscles bulged violently beneath his skin, tendons snapped taut as bone reshaped with the sound of sickening cracks and twists, one that was hard to listen.

Each sound echoed through the hollow tower.

Next, his jaw distended, reshaping into a snarling muzzle as raven-black fur erupted across his flesh.

It was a transformation that swallowed his humanity and turned him into a beast.

Not to mention, the transformation wasnʼt only physical.

His aura also surged, doubling that of normal.

Everyone, Viora, and the heirs were surprised to see Rex transforming into his Werewolf form.

All of them didnʼt expected that Rex was a Demon Spirit, and the realization struck them hard.

Rex was already strong enough in his humanoid form, so how strong would he be in this one?

…

Race: Voidal Knight (Special)

Power: Master Immortal Spirit 1 (Third Circle)

Soul Artifact: Cursed Melody Cord – S-grade (Support-type)

Spiritual Points: 1,040,000 (-520,000)

Strength: 1,100,250 (-310,000)

Agility: 2,033,000 (-860,000)

Endurance: 1,450,000 (-725,000)

Danger Zone: Voice.

…

Instinctively, Rex scanned the Singing Lady and realized that she was strong.

Too strong.

Compared to Terra the Seismic Serpent whom Rex was having trouble fighting against, she was twice as strong. Someone like him, who was barely an Immortal Spirit rank, wasnʼt comparable. Maybe if the others helped, this was a battle that could be won.

But his mind didnʼt go there.

In fact, his mind didnʼt even remotely trail from what he needed to do.

Eliminate the Singing Lady.

Not because the System said so, but because he wanted to.

His claws were already throbbing, yearning to tear the Singing Ladyʼs body apart.

Rex slowly rose to his feet with an overwhelming might.

His severed arm was healed in an instant, and his aura surged to the point—that the Singing Ladyʼs gaze was fixed on him. He wasnʼt impressed by how the Singing Lady went behind his back to kill the helpless soldiers, and now, with four of his pack members dead, the Singing Lady has claimed the right to die by his hands.

On the side, Crimoria watched in awe.

Even though she wasnʼt entirely helpless in this situation, she felt small.

Just moments earlier, she realized the other soldiers were somehow killed by an ambush.

It must be the Singing Lady, who came out of nowhere and killed them.

Not even Vioraʼs barrier could stop the Singing Lady, she could go through it like a ghost.

At that moment, Crimoria felt a tinge of fear, the situation had gotten real for her, and she came to realize that she might really die. Of course, she already accepted that consequences by following Rexʼs orders, but to have it actually happen scared her.

As a Dame, she wasnʼt always particularly placed in this kind of situation.

The Spirit Emperor made sure that his people were safe—and peaceful, so she had no obligations. She wasnʼt cowardly, but there was simply nothing that could threaten the empire.

So this kind of situation was quite scary for her.

Despite being in a superior rank to Rex, matching that of the Singing Lady, she felt incredibly small.

Unlike her, Rex has never wavered, never hesitated, playing at the border of life and death without fear.

ʼI…I want to be more like him, strong.ʼ Crimoria thought and gripped her blade.

She was about to rush in and help, but was stopped by a hand that barred her way.

It was Linthiaʼs hand.

”What are you doing? Get ready to fight, Lord Rex is going to clash any moment now!” Crimoria said.

In the tense silence, the Singing Ladyʼs pressure was becoming heavier.

One could tell that she was on the brink of making her move—her momentary stillness after making an appearance wasnʼt hesitation born of chance, but caution. The Singing Lady had sensed Rex, and his willingness to retaliate to his last breath, and that awareness alone was enough to tie her hand.

But this wouldnʼt last forever.

Linthia, on the other hand, shook her head.

”Donʼt, Iʼve seen that look before, and you do not want to get in his way,” She said—staring intently at Rexʼs expression that now has lost all reasoning. Before Crimoria could refute, she continued, ”This is a test for him, right? To see if heʼs worth being helped?”

Linthia turned to look her in the eyes.

Her voice was monotone but firm.

”Then stand back and watch as he showed you what kind of entity he was,” Linthia smirked.

Kaboom!

Crack!

Suddenly, Rexʼs aura exploded, cracking the coffin walls, while his killing intent narrowed.

His Soul Artifact mark on his back, now exposed for everyone to see, glowed brightly.

Initially, it glowed with three colors that stemmed from each one of his Soul Artifacts, but the other two colors began to fade visibly. With their disappearance, the Aegis of Moon Sentinel and also the Mask of the Banished Eclipse dissipated into strands of life energy.

All that was left was the Red Dawn of Kaiser, and it was pulsing with an unbelievable amount of energy.

Settling on an Imbalanced-type Spiritual Vein for his spirit body within the Spirit Realm wasnʼt a choice that was backed by a limited option, there was a reason. One of the biggest reasons—was due to the growth speed. Rex could reach an abnormal rank in a short span of time.

It would allow him to reach his goal of coming here.

However, there was more.

Another one was to help him in a very bad situation like this one, where he has to fight a strong enemy.

His constitution allowed him to obtain Nightfall Stars that would provide him with the life energy to grow his strength, but that wasnʼt a must. Rex didnʼt need to use the life energy from the Nightfall Stars to grow his rank.

Instead, he could use all of the life energy for his Spirit Genesis.

Rex poured more and more life energy from the Nightfall Stars into his Red Dawn of Kaiser.

He was planning to end this with one attack.

One Inevitable Death—that was overcharged with life energy beyond what an Immortal Spirit like him could amass. But with three SSS-grade Soul Artifacts, his energy reserve was vastly—monstrous. And his Red Dawn of Kaiser could endure it without breaking.

Sensing the amount of power Rex was emanating, the Singing Lady frowned.

She couldnʼt believe that a small, minuscule character was able to bypass his limitation to this extent.

Initially, she underestimated them, certain of her triumph.

But now, she wasnʼt sure anymore.

Rex smiled with bloodlust as he looked up, glaring at the Singing Lady as he bent his knees.

Power surged inside him as he pushed his body passed the limit.

Giving no time for the Singing Lady to react, he finally made his move.

Swoosh!
