The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1520: Not Him

Rex was amused.

Surprisingly enough, devouring other beings allowed him to absorb the Echo inside them.

But unlike the normal way of fusing the Echo into the Soul Artifact, it fused into his body instead.

It was absorbed and gave him a passive skill, which he thought was impossible.

Or at least, one side of him thought it was impossible.

As for the other one, the one who was in control right now, he was looking at the Singing Lady with a newfound light. Smacking his lips that were still red from the blood, Rex grabbed the remaining chorus-bearer by the head and dashed.

Seeing Rex heading towards her, the Singing Lady was stunned.

But once she recovered, that surprise turned into delight.

Rex has run long enough.

It was time for him to pay for what he had done to her beloved children.

Showing no hesitation at all, the Singing Lady hummed, sending a soundwave that was shaped like a string, reaching for Rexʼs mind. Almost instantly, Rex turned the Aegis of Moon Sentinel to shield himself from the attack.

But it passed through.

”Heukh!”

Rex choked when the power gripped him.

A mental attack that forced his brain to let go of the chorus-bearer and halt his entire body.

On the other hand, the Singing Lady charged, stretching her claws forward.

In the nick of time, Rex dodged the attack, moving his body to the side, right when the Singing Lady was about to claw his chest open. Missing Rex—caught the Singing Lady completely off guard.

She already made sure he couldnʼt move, but this still happened.

Slash!

Viciously, Rex swiped his Red Dawn of Kaiser, leaving four scratch marks on her face.

Despite being in her astral form, Rexʼs claws were still able to reach her.

Upon receiving the attack, the Singing Lady stumbled to the side and reached for her face, and she saw the streak of blood on her fingertips. Seeing this, her aura exploded—displaying the full strength of her power, bolstered by the Black Rain.

She sharply turned towards Rex, but something slammed against her.

Staggered and confused, she blinked and saw that the last chorus-bearer was sprawled on the ground.

For better or worse, she was still alive, but wailing in pain.

As she tried to reach for the chorus-bearer, attempting to give voidal energy to help the chorus-bearer heal, a flexed hand headed towards her. Rex attacked again, using the momentary distraction provided by the chorus-bearer to land an attack.

This time, the hit was solid and hard, ripping open the Singing Ladyʼs cheek.

Despite the gap in strength, Rex was able to utilize the chorus-bearer to his advantage effortlessly.

Also, he didnʼt give any time for the Singing Lady to breathe.

He kept playing with her blindspot, attacking from behind, aiming to cripple the Singing Lady as much as she could. Whenever she turned to focus solely on Rex, to get rid of him first, he changed his target and played with the chorus-bearer instead.

Mostly, he stomped on where the chorus-bearerʼs wound was to force her to scream.

ʼShe canʼt ignore the chorus-bearer, no matter how hard she tries. Good, I can use thatʼ Rex smirked.

From his observations, the Singing Lady always responded to the chorus-bearerʼs scream.

Even if she didnʼt want to, knowing that Rex was taking advantage of it—she couldnʼt do it.

Her body instinctively turned.

In the next few exchanges, Rex circled the Singing Lady and successfully landed his attacks.

Slowly, the wounds he inflicted were beginning to wear the Singing Lady down.

But he knew that it wasnʼt over.

Growl!!

Snapping her head to her behind forcefully, the Singing Lady cast her Spirit Genesis again.

Rex was halted in place instantly.

He tried resisting the tunes, plausible with the Puppet Resistance passive skill, but the rate of resistance to the hypnosis was slower. Rex grabbed his left forearm, trying to stop it from turning, and pointed its claws at his heart.

During this struggle, his muscles bulged, and his right arm was trembling uncontrollably.

As expected, even with the Puppet Resistance passive skill, the Singing Lady is still far stronger.

ʼGrrggh…! Iʼm not going to fall here!ʼ Rex screamed inside his head.

But his left hand was already piercing through his exoskeleton and chest slowly and painfully.

Unlike earlier, the Singing Lady was rooted in her spot, putting all her focus on her Spirit Genesis.

Under her influence, he was no match.

His anger was helping him resist the control, yet it wasnʼt enough.

”Krrghh!”

Rex groaned in pain when the tip of his claws touched his beating heart.

ʼI still donʼt have much life energy left, and my body is beaten up by the Law Predation even though it was gone when I took over,ʼ Rex thought, weighing his situation that was getting worse with each passing second. ʼI canʼt… resist this…ʼ

Just as he thought that, a smirk crept to his face.

ʼAt least, that was what the other side of me would think, but Iʼm not him.ʼ Rex chuckled inside.

Knowing that resisting was futile, he opted for a gruesome move.

Decisively, he opened his maw and clamped down on his left arm, which was controlled.

He sank his sharp fangs deep, piercing even the bones, and with a brutal snap, he ripped his entire left arm out. Turning to the side, he spat out his own arm—and glared at the Singing Lady. No emotions could be seen on his face, only a neutral face that hid deep anger.

On the other hand, the Singing Lady was completely stunned.

In this second, she looked at Rexʼs expressionless face and couldnʼt help but shiver.

She began to wonder in her mind who was really the monster? Is it her or Rex?

Because at this moment, Rex, donned with the unhealed wounds and his own blood drizzling down his mouth, looked extremely terrifying. Frantically, the Singing Lady cast her Spirit Genesis again, wanting to control Rex again.

However, unlike before, she couldnʼt.

The Black Rain supplied her with a lot of voidal energy, allowing her to use her Spirit Genesis several times in succession, a lot more than she normally would be able to. Yet, it proved to be futile as it didnʼt take effect on Rex anymore.

Rex slowly stood up, still with his severed arm that was healing slowly.

Then, he approached the Singing Lady.

Slow and steady, while keeping his gaze locked onto the Singing Lady.

All the while, the Singing Ladyʼs voice rose and fell, desperately weaving haunting notes.

Every time, her Spirit Genesis was only able to stop Rex for a bit, and as he got closer, the effect of the Spirit Genesis grew weaker and weaker. Rex pressed on, unshaken. Step by step, he closed the distance until he stood before her, eyes fixed like a predator zeroing in on its prey.

Meanwhile, the three stuck figures at the top of the tower sucked in a cold breath.

”How in the Godʼs name was he able to sustain those attacks…?” Crimoria mumbled in disbelief.

It was a Spirit Genesis from a Voidal Knight at the Master Immortal Spirit rank, a powerful being that needed to be taken down by multiple people at the Master Immortal Spirit rank. Not to mention, there was also the Black Rain.

She couldnʼt believe what she was seeing.

”The Singing Lady has a support-type Soul Artifact, therefore, weaker than most in the same rank, as her but still…” Aprilʼs pupils trembled, watching—as Rex stood fearlessly. ”Heʼs really strong. To think heʼs only an Immortal Spirit…”

Linthia also wanted to praise Rex.

As expected, he was able to pull through, no matter the odds.

He could turn the odds in his favor, that is the kind of entity Rex was.

Meanwhile, Rex tilted his head.

”Your Spirit Genesis infected the mind, making others your puppet,” Rex mumbled hauntingly, his lava-colored eyes peering through the Singing Lady. ”But it seemed if your mind isnʼt stable, so will your Spirit Genesis. I donʼt feel a thing.”

Upon hearing this, the Singing Lady paused in fright.

A sense of dread began to leak onto her face.

Despite the bitterness of stopping here when she almost got what she wanted, the Singing Lady turned and tried to escape. She wanted to be stronger, to reach the Eternal Spirit rank and be acknowledged by the Voidal Prince above her, but she loved her life more.

As long as she was alive, there would always be a way to get what she wanted.

Just then, as she reached a couple of meters away, a squeal halted her move.

Rex stepped on the chorus-bearer again, and while the Singing Lady was stunned, he attacked.

Swoosh!

”Inevitable Death…”

Slash!

Charging the Red Dawn of Kaiser with what he had left in the tank, he used his Spirit Genesis for the last time and stabbed the Singing Lady from behind. His claws pierced through her flesh like butter and came out of the front.

Naturally, the Singing Lady screamed in pain.

Rexʼs claws werenʼt only sharp, but they were also hot from his burning life energy.

Being stabbed by them was excruciatingly painful.

Splash!

Savagely, Rex pulled out his claws as the Singing Lady stumbled to the ground.

”You were so close to winning…” Rex said as he went around the Singing Lady. ”All of the necessary sacrifices were placed and ready. You only need to do the last step, to activate the array inside the ruin, and activate the tower. Once that was done, your path to power would be smooth sailing,”

”But you lured me, you met me,” Rex stopped and knelt down. ”And Iʼm thankful…”

Reaching out his hand, Rex caressed the Singing Ladyʼs face dearly.

His eyes were tender and soft, almost as if he was really thankful.

”Had it not been for you, I wouldnʼt be able to come out and show him how itʼs done,” Rex continued, thanking the Singing Lady for what she had done. ”Now, Iʼll make sure everyone knows that Iʼm the one who defeated you, not him. So he could not deny what I could offer…”

Upon hearing this, the Singing Lady gulped harshly.

She didnʼt know how Rex could turn from maniacal to this dangerously calm.

Even the way he fought compared to earlier, it was as if she were fighting another person.

Finally, for the first time, Rexʼs face shifted from a neutral and expressionless face.

A smirk appeared, and as he caressed the Singing Ladyʼs head with both hands, he opened his mouth.

Clearly, he was going to devour the Singing Lady.

Perhaps, if he ate her completely, she would give him another Echo that would be translated into a skill.

And the thought of it couldnʼt stop the smirk from appearing.

Just as he was about to swallow the Singing Ladyʼs head, a radiant beam pierced the sky.

Swoosh!

Boom!

It was a golden beam that pierced the sky and was even strong enough to disperse the Black Rain and the Black Rift completely. For a second, Rex could feel the bath of moonlight seeping through before the Black Rift recovered and repaired the hole in the sky.

Sensing the overwhelming presence, Rexʼs hands stopped, and his eyes widened.

A notification appeared in front of him.

ʼAnother candidate for invincibility…ʼ Rex thought inside.

Slowly, he looked upward and saw a woman bathed in brilliant golden light, enveloping the entire area with her warm embrace. Rex rose to his feet in a slow and composed manner—until his back was upright before facing the figure.

Despite being in the presence of a figure that was equivalent to him in status, there was no fear.

Only anger was boiling inside.

Not because of the figure, but this anger was the only emotion he could feel right now.

Looking down at him, the figureʼs eyes narrowed at the sight of Rexʼs appearance.

It wasnʼt his real body, but there was no mistaking him.

Heʼs also a Scion of Vertex.

”To whom am I talking to right now…?” She parted her lips and asked.
