The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1495: Endless Swarm

It was the first battle for the group, and the situation doesnʼt look good.

Underneath the avalanche of screeches, the ground trembled—hundreds of writhing, misshapen beasts swarmed the uneven rock formations, their long, rock tails lashed and whipped as they scrambled over one another in a frantic pursuit.

Clawed limbs scrabbed against stone—their ascent eerily efficient, too fast, too relentless.

Above, the escapees pressed on.

Despite their ragged breath and feet slipping against the uneven surface, they continued to climb.

Every second counted, but the swarm below showed no sign of slowing down.

All of the mice were coming, approaching dangerously fast.

Glancing downward, Hannah willed her amber hair into a thick whip and lashed it to the rock formation under her—cracking the surface and sending pieces of rock raining down on the mice. But even then, that only bought barely five seconds.

Rumble!

Stone cracked under the weight of their march, fissures forming where their relentless advance—shook the terrain. One soldier lost his footing, tumbling down in shock as he was about to plunge into a mess of fur and gnashing teeth.

But then, the swarm of mice that was reaching for him suddenly dispersed.

Kaboom!

Rexʼs aura exploded, sending the Voidal Pawns around him flying away before he made a strong leap and obliterated the Voidal Pawns that were about to reach for the soldier. His sheer strength squished these beasts like they were nothing, causing severed limbs and blood to fall down to the ground.

In addition, he captured the soldier and threw him up again without much thought.

Dangling on one hand, Rex looked down and scanned everything below.

He instantly regretted doing that—as countless stat windows drowned his vision, there were still a lot, thousands upon thousands of these mice monsters—called the Rock-tailed Mouse. Most of them were at the Ascendant Spirit, but there are some who are as strong as the Ascendant Spirit 3 rank.

”Not a problem for me, but man, thatʼs a lot of them,” Rex groaned as these monsters were endless.

Even at this moment, there were still some that emerged from the ground.

However, soon, his lips curled into a smile.

Checking the notifications that popped earlier from the killings he did, he couldnʼt help but smile.

”I can amass a lot of gold from killing all of them,” Rex mused in anticipation.

Nodding his head, he leaped skyward and charged his Red Dawn of Kaiser.

Rex crossed his arms above his chest as he charged his life energy, concentrating a massive amount of it onto his elongated crimson fingernails. Then, a sinister crimson light coated his fingernails, putting a devastating pressure on the air around him.

Moreover, the blood of the monsters he and the others killed began to float and went towards him.

All of it was siphoned into his fingernails.

Once the notification appeared, Rex chanted aloud, ”Spirit Genesis: Inevitable Death!”

Rex moved both hands in a slashing motion—it looked slow and weak, but time suddenly slowed down, and the Voidal Pawns stopped dead in their tracks. Just then, two spectacular, almost breathtaking arcs of crimson flew out of his sharp fingernails.

And as soon as the arcs came out, the air distorted and time returned to its normal pace.

Ngongg!

Screech!!

Both arcs swept clean the rock formation wall underneath him from the Voidal Pawns, all of their bodies were sliced and mangled, bursting into mists of blood without even deterring the crimson arcs, not even a little bit.

Countless notifications appeared as hundreds were killed with that one attack.

Rex watched as the crimson arcs continued and struck the ground hard.

A violent shockwave exploded as the ground shook hard.

Once the aftermath of the Inevitable Death receded, a mile-long fissure could be seen.

Everyone on the wall above Rex, including Viora and Crimoria on top of the rock formation, gasped.

All of their eyes were flared open, almost coming out of their sockets, as this was their first time seeing a Spirit Genesis of someone at the Immortal Spirit rank caused this much destruction. To think that this Spirit Genesis was able to shake the ground and even left a vicious fissure like this, it was abnormal!

”Who is he, really? How strong is his Soul Artifact to produce this?” Riko mumbled in shock.

It was the same for Hannah, ”Heʼs not simple. No wonder Great Elder Rosa takes a liking to him.”

Not wasting this golden window to reach the top, the heirs continued.

Rex, on the other hand, glanced down and then to his sides.

”Fuck., there are so many of them,” He smiled acutely as more swarms climbed the rock formations but now, they were avoiding him, taking a detour to reach the peak. As if that was not enough, he looked ahead and found more, climbing the rock formation across the one he was on right now. ”I can probably use one or two more Inevitable Death before I risk dropping to the Ascendant Spirit rank, and even then, thatʼs not going to be enough.

Deciding not to think about it too much, Rex leaped to the side and began his rampage.

He used his claws to tear them down.

Having a strong physique and strong claws helped him climb the wall as if it were nothing.

Compared to the ground, he wasnʼt slower at all—in fact, he might be faster.

He leaped from wall to wall and killed as many Voidal Pawns as he could.

But one man wasnʼt enough to handle all of that, not even Rex could pull it off.

As Rex looked to the other side, he saw the swarm on the other side was already nearing the heirs.

It was only then that a flash of blue came down to him and sliced dozens of Voidal Pawns in one motion.

”Go,” April came down to help instead of going to safety when she realized Rex couldnʼt hold these swarms until the others reached the top. ”Itʼs true that youʼre here to oversee and protect us, but we are also here for training. It doesnʼt feel good to be protected. Iʼll take care of this part.”

Upon hearing this, Rex nodded indifferently, ”Suit yourself,”

Since they now have the upper-ground, leaving April to deal with this section should be fine.

Rex could feel the heat radiating from her, she was confident, and that convinced him enough to leave this part to her. Then, he tilted his head up and saw the swarm from across was already crossing over to the rock formations he was on right now through a connected stone bridge.

He needs to take it down.

”Linthia!”

Descending down like an Angel, Linthia came and stretched out her arm.

Rex leaped and grabbed onto her.

”Throw me to that bridge and help the heirs reach the top!” Rex instructed.

His voice needs to be loud due to the rush of wind.

Linthia gave a quick nod, muttering an apology under her breath before seizing Rex by the collar and shirt. With a powerful twist of her body and a heavy roar, she hurled him toward the bridge like a bullet, fast enough to break the sound barrier.

Feeling the violent wind rushing against his face, Rex smirked and cocked his arm back.

Crash!

One punch and the thick bridge of stone shattered into pieces.

All Voidal Pawns were blown away, the unfortunate ones had their bodies exploded from the impact.

More and more notifications flooded into the vision.

Each pop of blue holographic light sent a wave of electricity through his veins, this was exhilarating.

”Huff! Huff!” Hannah panted heavily as she finally managed to reach the peak.

She was the first one to reach the top thanks to her hair that could move like her own limbs.

Although the peak was uneven with several holes here and there, the area was wide and open, a good place to fight the swarm of Voidal Pawns. Awaiting there, watching the situation unfolded below—with widened eyes were Crimoria and Viora.

Seeing this, Hannah went over to the edge and looked down.

It was then she saw the astonishing sight.

A streak of brutal crimson light slashed through the Voidal Pawns, cutting off their path to the top with blistering speed. Blinking in surprise, she realized that it was Rex, unleashing his full strength against the Voidal Pawns, ”Heʼs fighting like a beast…”

Viora was also thinking the same thing—she was surprised to see the way Rex fought.

He didnʼt use any technique, focused only on raw strength and brutality.

As Hannah said, he was fighting more like a beast than a man.

ʼHe didnʼt use any martial arts, it was as if he was a different person than before,ʼ She thought in shock.

Knowing how good Rex was in martial arts, this was quite surprising to see.

Following right behind Hannah were the other soldiers, with Linthia carrying both Riko and Tyalan.

She landed and set them down just as Hannah approached her, ”Whereʼs April? Did you not help her?”

”Sheʼs helping Rex buy time for all of you,” Linthia answered shortly before turning around, wanting to help and inform Rex that the others were already at the peak and ready. Just then, she stopped when the rock formations underneath her feet rumbled. ”Rex…?”

Swish!

Just then, a figure shot to the sky.

It was April—she was thrown upward as the mice stacked into a tower in an attempt to reach her.

But with a powerful grunt, her nodachi hummed with life energy as she cut down the tower.

Her nodachi cuts through anything it touches with ease, killing Voidal Pawn after Voidal Pawn before she landed on top of the rock formation. She screeched back, creating rocky trenches as she tried to stop the momentum, before coming to a halt.

In her hand was her black nodachi, now stained with thick blood.

From the edge, Rex somersaulted back and landed firmly on his feet.

Almost instantly, dozens of mice appeared and attacked him, but he was ready—his claws rended through each one of them—and killed them in an instant. But there was more, the swarm of Rock-tailed Mouse was unending.

Reacting faster than the others, Linthia flapped her wings and went to aid Rex.

Swish!

Once she reached above Rex, her wings wrapped around her body and glowed with a brilliant light.

Sensing the gathering of life energy, Rex glanced upward before he nodded.

He drove his fist into the edge of the rock formation—with the strength that was abnormal for a mere Immortal Spirit rank to have, shattering it and sending the Voidal Pawns tumbling down before leaping away to safety.

At that moment, Linthiaʼs eyes snapped open as she chanted, ”Spirit Genesis: Canopy of Dark Forest”

Boom!

Ten dark branches of life energy burst forth—from her wings, piercing through the Voidal Pawns and even branching to the nearest one, commencing chains of death. Under such an attack, none of the mice were able to reach the top.

But this was a temporary solution.

Even now, the Voidal Pawns have already regrouped and climbed the rock formation more.

”Rex, weʼre going to be exhausted first before we can take them out,” Linthia said as she landed.

Rex nodded—he also knew that a battle of attrition would be their loss.

”Senior, why didnʼt you help us?” Taylan turned to Crimoria and asked.

Being put on the spot, Crimoria paused for a second to think of an answer, but Rex intervened, ”She did not get in the way because this is supposed to be your training, to have real-life experience. Donʼt turn towards her, focus on tackling the situation instead.”

”Then what are we going to do? We canʼt locate the Voidal Knight commanding them,” Riko asked.

In order to get out of this situation, they need to kill the special Voidal Knight.

Rex then smirked.

”Thatʼs true, we canʼt find that monster,” he admitted with a nod, his aura intensifying. ”But thatʼs not a problem, that doesnʼt matter. We just need to change tactics—nothing difficult. If itʼs hiding, then weʼll simply lure it out.”
