The Great Thief

When the little girl transformed, Lucky Southern Persian bitterly realized that she was no longer a valid target for Polymorph.

The main buffs of the demon transformation were in Physical Defense. There was also an increase in Magic Defense, but it wasn’t as much as Physical Defense. Her attacks also became more physical.

In Dawn, Mages had the weakest Physical Defence.

With his shield still on cooldown and his low HP bar, there was no way for him to survive Kitty Likes Meat’s demon transformation.

In the moment that he fell, the entirely stadium was silent.

It was an upset, a true upset!

Lucky Southern Persian was one of the top players in the current gaming circle. He had won and lost matches against Blood Dagger, and even Sorrowless didn’t have a 100% win-rate against him.

However, this top level player, was now a miserable corpse at the feet of a newcomer.

Kitty Likes Meat didn’t have much HP left, and Lucky Southern Persian just had to hold on for a little bit longer. If he had done so, or used Polymorph a little earlier, he might not have lost the match.

Seventh Heaven’s next player was the Hunter Vast Silence, who was another veteran player.

Kitty Likes Meat, who was at critical HP, didn’t cause him too much trouble. He quickly depleted her health 24 seconds after the match started. These two guilds were just taking turns to send out their next player.

Fat Monkey then killed Vast Silence before he was killed by the next Seventh Heaven player.

Seventh Heaven’s final player was up against Moonlight, so there was no suspense in the match up. In the end, Ruling Sword won the individual rounds with a slight advantage.

During the intermission, reporters went around interviewing the two most popular players after the individual rounds.

Normally, this wouldn’t happen as there were still more matches to be fought and the players needed to rest and regroup. However, if the matches were exciting enough, then that would be another matter.

Kitty Likes Meat was a newcomer and needed the exposure. Lucky Southern Persian didn’t need the exposure, but losing to a newcomer wasn’t a good look, so both parties ended up accepting the interviews.

Reporter: Did you both expect the result of today’s match?

Kitty Likes Meat: Of course not. I really wanted to win, but I wasn’t sure. After all, Southern Persian is someone I really respect.

Lucky Southern Persian was relieved, as he was afraid that this newcomer would have a big mouth.

In fact, there was a similar situation before. A newcomer had managed to defeat a veteran then insulted him, telling him that his time was over and that it was their time to take centerstage.

That newcomer was young and a little immature; perhaps their personality also contributed to it.

However, the veteran was frustrated and immediately announced his retirement. Although the newcomer might not have been the main cause, the public still blamed him.

As a result, the newcomers in all other clubs faced bullying, and were generally resisted by the gaming circles.

This lasted around three to four years. At a particularly tense time, the then-newcomer publicly apologized to the veteran, who told everyone that he had found a new life.

That newcomer’s name was Green Flag Wine. It was hard to believe that such a reserved player like the Tire Killer would have been part of such a great controversy.

Lucky Southern Persian wasn’t going to retire because he had lost to a rookie, but it still didn’t feel good.

However, upon seeing Kitty Likes Meat’s humbleness, he didn’t feel so bad anymore. When the reporter turned the microphone to him, Lucky Southern Persian said loudly, “Kitty Likes Meat managed to win today and it wasn’t because she was lucky. I’m not even sure if I would win even if I faced the same trick again. She has great talent and mental fortitude.”

Reported: Do you think that she will get far in this industry?

Lucky Southern Persian: I have no doubt that she will make great progress. It’s no secret that we are very jealous of Ruling Sword, having discovered the talents of players like March Rain, Fat Monkey, Kitty Likes Meat, Sakura Memories, Moonlight and Mu Qiu.

Reporter: So, you think that several of the rookies in Ruling Sword have potential?

Lucky Southern Persian: It’s hard to say. March Rain and Fat Monkey are making rapid progress, but If I had to pick one, I think that Kitty is a prodigy. She is much stronger than I was when I first started.

Reporter: Wow, high praise from Southern Persian! Are you happy Kitty?

Kitty Likes Meat: Of course I am. Thank you Southern Persian, but I am no prodigy. My dad used to be a professional player and has been teaching me since I was very young. You could say that I was raised on the influence of these games.

Lucky Southern Persian: I see, that clears up a lot of things. Your father must be a great player.

Reporter: Southern Persian, how are you feeling about the rest of the matches?

Lucky Southern Persian (laughing bitterly): What are you trying to say? When facing someone like Lu Li, no one can be sure of anything. Let’s not forget that players like March Rain, Fat Monkey and Kitty Likes Meat were all enlisted by him. I can’t even imagine how he managed to bring all these people together.

Reporter: Between Elevenless and Lu Li, who do you think would win?

Lucky Southern Persian: Lu Li, even though I don’t know how he would do it. There is a saying around the professional gaming circle right now that Elevenless always dies when he runs into Lu Li. There haven’t been any exceptions so far, no matter who initiates the fight.

The reporter laughed before finally ending this harmonious interview.

Kitty Likes Meat returned to the Ruling Sword lounge and was congratulated by everyone. If it wasn’t clear before from her 1 v 2, it was now obvious that Kitty Likes Meat was the strongest among the

rookie.

No one was really hung up on the fact that Lu Li had taken a bit of Lucky Southern Persian’s HP before he fell. After all, the public always tended to support the weaker side.

Mu Qiu stood watching the crowd, and his face looked a little depressed.

He had joined Ruling Sword this season, and had many opportunities to play, but it was always as an assistant healer. He was always standing behind someone, never in the spotlight.

Ruling Sword had so many strong rookies that it was impossible not the feel the pressure.

Lu Li lightly pressed his shoulder and said, “There will always be more opportunities in the future. As long as you are strong, you won’t be hidden for long.”

Mu Qiu smiled because he knew that Lu Li was right; there would always be more opportunities.

He liked the atmosphere in Ruling Sword; there was no manipulation or empty flatter. Everyone was just working towards a united goal.

But more importantly, as per Lu Li’s insistence, Ruling Sword wasn’t financially backed by any large companies. This meant that there weren’t any social events that they needed to attend, which was perfect for an otaku like him.

As for a chance to demonstrate his strength, Mu Qiu believed in himself and in Ruling Sword.
