The Great Thief

Blood Dagger really wanted to give up, but he was only one to two hundred Glory away from becoming a Legatus. He could probably do it in within a dozen more matches, so he had to press on.

For a Thief to be this impatient, but still be this good would require an immense talent like Blood Dagger’s.

His next opponent was a Thief. Blood Dagger approached as usual without Stealth, just like his opponent. Blood Dagger could see the Thief’s appearance and equipment…

Wait!

Just as he was about to go into Stealth, Blood Dagger squinted his eyes.

His whole body was suddenly filled with excitement as his blood boiled. He had finally met a real opponent, one greater than he could have imagined. He wanted to calm himself, but he just couldn’t!

One could ask how he knew the identity of this person, but Blood Dagger had his ways.

Lu Li had also recognized Blood Dagger – after all, he hadn’t hidden his face. Blood Dagger was quite wary at this point, as he had run into someone who was much stronger than he was.

Lu Li was also surprised.

He had just upgraded to Senior Centurion, which meant the arena settings would refreshed. After reaching Senior Centurion, Lu Li wouldn’t match against anyone lower than this rank.

Lu Li had forgotten to reset the filter that blocked certain professions.

He didn’t expect to encounter another star player either. After all, he hadn’t opened up a room and the probably to match into one was quite low.

Dawn was overflowing with players, so for two star players to match against must have been fate.

Blood Dagger was prepared for a hard fight. Even though there was no one here to watch, this fight was bound to be a milestone in his personal career.

At this time, his opponent nodded at him and vanished.

“Alright then, since you’ve gone into Stealth, I’ll…Wait, what is this System prompt?”

When Blood Dagger saw the prompt, he had an ugly expression on his face. He was filled with anger and helplessness, as though he was going to explode.

System: Since your opponent has given up the match, you are the winner by default. Congratulations!

If he was an ordinary player, he would have been happy with this situation. However, there was no sense of achievement when an opponent forfeited a fight, especially one who was worthy.

Unfortunately, Blood Dagger was no ordinary player – he was an expert.

Experts should be treated with respect, and not so indifferently!

He felt like he had been completely humiliated, so he went onto the World Announcements and shook his fist as he announced:

Blood Dagger (World Announcement): Lu Li, what is this meaning of this? Are you looking down on me?

The players who paid attention to the World Announcements were surprised, but knew that this couldn’t have been an impersonation. Blood Dagger’s name was certified by the game association; there was no way to fake that.

The World Announcements hadn’t been very active recently.

At the very least, it was impossible to chat on it, since the System patch had set the cost of posting a message at one gold coin. The only occasional announcements that were made were Guilds recruiting players and expensive items being sold.

Blood Dagger was so upset that he felt like he had to ask Lu Li through the World Announcements.

Lu Li usually blocked messages from all channels, but if his ID appeared in the World Announcement, he couldn’t block, even if he wanted it to.

Elevenless: Hey, this is awkward. I just put you to sleep; did Lu Li put you to sleep as well?

Within the gaming circle, to be ‘put to sleep’ meant to be KO’ed. In that morning’s match – Glory Capital against Wings of Dawn – Elevenless had defeated Blood Dagger. This match was also the first time that Glory Capital had lost in the first round of the professional league.

Elevenless’ Gold set was now much stronger.

The level 50 Gold set could be equipped by Elevenless after inserting some gems into them. After he lost to Lu Li and to make up for his movement speed weakness, Wings of Dawn had spent a large sum of money buying a pair of Epic boots for him.

The person that Elevenless wanted to kill the most now was Lu Li.

Of course, killing Blood Dagger was a big factor in determining the final victory. This result turned out to be a surprise for most players.

He had a Gold set, Epic Boots and Dark Gold items for everything else. Almost everything was equipped with Level Reducing Gems, which cost millions of dollars overall. They had to use all their connections within the game to acquire them – otherwise, no amount of money could get them what they wanted.

This year, Wings of Dawn was said to have received hundreds of millions in the form of investments, but the whole guild was still quite tight on funds, all because of this one competition.

Their ambition was that Wings of Dawn would go right to the top to take the championship!

After Blood Dagger saw Elevenless’ words, he became even more depressed. He realized how dumb the World Announcements were, but unfortunately, there was no way for him to take it back.

Soon, all kinds of star players started to come out to ridicule Blood Dagger. It was very expensive; everyone had spent tens of thousands just to do this.

Blood Dagger didn’t even see Lu Li’s words, because Lu Li just continued farming. However, as his name appeared time and time again, it difficult to avoid it.

He quickly understood what had happened and was a little dumbfounded.

Why did this even happen? He had no history with Blood Dagger and had admired the steps that he had taken to get to where he was as a star player.

He just wanted to save some time, so he conceded the fight. How was Lu Li disrespecting him?

After some hesitation, Lu Li spent a gold coin and explained to everyone on the World Announcements that he was just in a hurry and that he hoped that they could have a chance to fight in future.

For celebrities, any little thing they said or did could become a piece of news. This was no different for the star players.

The question that Blood Dagger asked while he was angry, “What is the meaning of this, are you looking down on me?”, was printed in the news and even attached to a picture of him with an

angry expression on his face.

After Lu Li had given his explanation, he didn’t involve himself in the matter any further.

From the beginning to the end, it was purely a misunderstanding. He didn’t think that there was any real benefit from a victory in the arena. Even if he won match, it was just Glory and EXP – there was nothing record their performance.

The Senior Centurion rank was also nothing special, and Lu Li soon reached became a Legatus after five hours.

This time, his luck was a little better, and he managed to receive the -10% gem.

In the past, he had sold a -10% gem.The demand for gems wasn’t so great then, so he had only managed to get ten thousand dollars. However, this was still a huge sum of money to him at the time.

He decided to exchange the -5% gem with the -7% one that March Rain had.

March Rain was currently level 48, and her level 50 Book of the Dead only needed a -5% gem to be equipped. They could hold on to the -7% for someone else in future.
