The Golem Mage

761: The Proper Way To Flaunt.

Though the Patriarch and the Grand Elder wanted to ask why Alec needed the corpses, But they quickly realized he had no intention of telling them, as he simply brushed off their curiosity, claiming it was a secret.

When they asked how he planned to store so many zombie corpses, Alec casually showed them a high-quality space ring, the very same one that Old Man Alderic had given him when he handed over the demonic beasts for Alec to refine into pills for the academy.

The sight of such a rare and powerful space ring only left them more shocked and they realised it was more than enough.

At this point, when the Patriarch looked at Alec, he no longer saw him as just a member of the younger generation.

No, he saw a walking treasure trove, a golden goose shining with wealth.

Just as the Patriarch was about to shamelessly pitch an investment opportunity, probably for himself the Grand Elder dragged him away before he could embarrass himself further in front of his Grandson.

Alec didn’t bother waiting for them to return with the City Lord’s confirmation, because he was already certain the request would go through.

After all, the City Lord had no reason to reject it, the corpses were useless to him, and keeping good relations with the Gordon Clan was far more beneficial than questioning their motives.

With time running out, Alec finally decided it was time for his Mage Army to march out of the city gates before it was too late.

–

CLANK!

The loud grinding of the city gates opening at such a late hour instantly drew the attention of every mage already stationed on the battlefield.

Their gazes snapped toward the gates, eager to see who was arriving so late.

While many already suspected who it was, the Lanzt Clansmen were particularly pleased, as they knew that finally the Gordons had decided to show up.

GRRRLLL!

Despite their arrival, many warriors looked on with displeasure.

The Gordons had marched in so casually at a late time, as if they were the main characters of the war, but before anyone could voice their complaints, the first wave of Gordon Mages stepped forward.

And in that moment, their displeasure turned into pure shock.

Marching at the front were the Tier 1 Mages, fully clad in their Earth-element Spirit Equipment Sets, radiating an unmistakable aura of strength.

As they marched forward, with spears and shields in hand, their steps were steady and confident, their expressions unreadable, the sheer aura they radiated sent ripples through the already positioned Tier 1 mages from other clans, causing many to falter under their overwhelming presence.

Their uniformity, the perfect synchronization of their Spirit Equipment sets, and the sheer quality of their weapons left spectators both awed and intimidated, many among the gathered forces couldn’t help but feel relieved that such a powerful clan was on their side in this battle.

But the display of strength didn’t stop there.

Hot on their heels, the Tier 2 Mages emerged, just as heavily armed and armoured, though their Spirit Equipment appeared similar to that of the Tier 1 mages as it was the same set, but there were noticeable differences, added enhancements, refined craftsmanship, and an unmistakable increase in power as a Tier 2 equipment set.

At this moment, shock and disbelief rippled through the battlefield, every clan, city guard, guardian, and commander present found themselves speechless at the sheer display of wealth and power emanating from the Gordon Clan.

Just when they thought they had seen enough, the Tier 3 and Tier 4 Mages followed, their Spirit Equipment even more refined and powerful than those before them.

By now, a single thought echoed through the minds of every spectator:

‘When the hell did the Gordons get this rich?’

‘How the hell did they get their hands on so many high-quality equipment sets?’

Whispers spread through the ranks as a few remembered a recent rumour, that the Gordons were supposedly planning an auction after the Blood Moon War.

This realization led to a single conclusion in many minds:

‘They must have discovered a Treasure Dungeon.’

But before their speculation could go any further, the Tier 5 Mages of the Gordon Clan stepped through the gates.

And for the first time, a wave of relief washed over the crowd of mages watching them.

Unlike their lower-ranked counterparts, the Tier 5 Mages weren’t wearing Spirit Equipment Sets, which meant things weren’t as ridiculous as they were beginning to seem.

Yet, that relief was short-lived.

Because even without Spirit Equipment, the aura radiating from the Gordon Tier 5 Mages was immensely powerful.

Every single one of them had reached the High Tier 5 Realm, and even more terrifying, three of them were at the Peak of Tier 5.

Despite all the aura and grandeur on display, it was Brandon Gordon, a mage who was still at the High Tier 5 Mage Realm, who led the march of the Tier 5’s.

At the forefront of each rank, a mage carried a massive flag emblazoned with the Gordon Clan insignia, another calculated display Alec had planned.

Not only that, but he had also ensured that the family insignia was engraved onto every Spirit Equipment set they wore.

This was yet another advantage of using Spirit Equipment Fragments, since they could be mass-produced as long as he had enough, all Alec had to do was list the details he wanted, and the system handled the rest.

At this moment, Alec was taking every opportunity to flaunt his clan as a wealthy and powerful clan.

Unlike his grandfather, who preferred to stay low-key, Alec was all about making an entrance with a bang.

And after the Tier 5 Mages had fully marched out, Alec Gordon finally appeared.

He was seated atop his massive Shadow Wolf, which he had summoned from its tattoo form, its Tier 6 Alpha aura rolling off its body in waves of oppressive energy.

Since Alec was going all out in his show of dominance, he hadn’t held back, he had even brought along the Tier 7 Mages of the Gordon Clan to participate in the display.

Alec himself sat casually atop his Shadow Wolf, dressed in a simple yet striking black with red stripe kimono, its loose fit exposing part of his chest, while his twin weapons were strapped to his left waist, and his arms were folded as he gazed ahead with an unbothered expression.

At that moment, he didn’t look like a mage marching into battle.

Instead he looked more like a samurai taking a casual stroll, utterly unconcerned, with no visible defensive measures beyond his kimono.

Beside him, the Third and Fourth Elders levitated at his right and left, visibly uncomfortable with this unnecessary display.

They hadn’t wanted to go along with Alec’s theatrics, but somehow, he had cajoled them into it, arguing that it was all for the sake of the clan’s image.

More than anything, they had always found it difficult to say no to Alec.

Every time they looked at him, they saw a dangerous combination of both the Grand Elder and the Patriarch in him, a shameless and cunning leader who was impossible to refuse.

Behind them, the Five Tier 6 Mages marched in formation, moving like a squad of elite bodyguards, adding to the overwhelming presence of the Gordon Clan’s grand procession.

This was how the Gordons rolled out, like a group of celebrities, soaking in the stunned gazes and whispers of admiration and envy from everyone present.

The city gates finally closed shut behind them, sealing off the city once more.

With less than an hour before the battle began, there was no time to waste, even though there was still some breathing room, the city guards weren’t taking any chances.
