The Golem Mage

755: Legacy.

The first day of training ended quickly, but not before Alec had pushed every single mage to their limits, by the time they staggered back to their homes, they were more drained than they had ever been since awakening as mages.

The only ones who looked somewhat fine were the Tier 6 mages, but that was simply because Alec hadn’t had much time for them.

Instead, his focus had been on the low rank mages, not just in spell training, but in reviving one of their clan’s greatest strengths—Golems.

At the start of training, Alec had asked all those who hadn’t yet crafted their first golem to move to one side, he didn’t even hold back, as he scolded them for their negligence of the Clan’s tradition.

Although many low-ranked mages still hadn’t crafted their first golem, there were also plenty who had, which made him let them off easily.

Without wasting time, Alec ordered the first group to go and create their golems immediately, making one thing very clear, without summoning their first companion golem, they would not be allowed to train in the spells he had assigned to their Tier.

This shocked many of them, they had been through countless battles, and in those fights, very few had relied on golems.

Only those confident in their golem-handling skills had ever bothered to summon them.

Even though Golems were the signature of the Gordons Clan, the art of using them had diminished over the passage of time for the generations followed, many clan members had branched into other paths, choosing paths that suited them beyond just being Golem Mages.

After all, while their ancestors had been true Golem Masters, the current generations had become more focused on the battle path, and thanks to their naturally affinity for earth element it wasn’t so hard.

Unlike the older generation, who had dedicated themselves fully to the Golem Path before training as battle mages, the newer generations had become more lax in their approach.

To make matters worse, mixed bloodlines had weakened the clan’s natural talent for Golem craft.

Many younger mages lacked the power, knowledge, or even resources needed to properly summon and advance their golems, making the practice feel outdated to them.

Hearing that Alec wouldn’t allow them to train without a golem was a complete shock.

Some of the Mid-Tier mages were already breaking into a sweat, silently praying that Alec wouldn’t enforce this rule on them.

Because if they had to spend time crafting golems instead of training and evolving the Basic spells, they would fall behind and risk disqualification from the squad, since many felt they wouldn’t reach the required Mid-Tier level in the spell proficiency right on time.

Although the Mid-Tier requirement was currently only imposed on the Mid ranks (Tier 4 and Tier 5 mages), but Alec had made it very clear to the low rank mages that he would personally review their spell execution.

And if they slacked off and failed to reach his satisfaction, they too would be cut from the squad.

It was only the first day, but Alec had already implemented a mandatory golem policy for the low rank mages.

After sending those without golems to a corner to begin refining and crafting their first golem without supervision or guardian, Alec moved on to the next phase, as he called out those who already had a golem but the golems were lagging behind their master in realm advancement.

At his command, a large group of Tier 2 and Tier 3 mages stepped forward.

In fact, almost all the Tier 3 mages moved to the side, seeing this, Alec sighed in disappointment.

As it became clear to him that even those who had crafted a golem were just as guilty as those who hadn’t.

While advancing a golem at lower stages was difficult, it was still very possible, especially for those who had basic knowledge and used their golems regularly.

Regular use would help a golem fill its experience bar faster, making it easier to progress to the next realm with proper steps and a little push.

But judging by what he was seeing, it was obvious that many had only crafted a golem for the sake of tradition, either as a symbol of their Gordons heritage or just for fun.

With that realization, Alec got to work.

He ordered the remaining mages to summon their golems, then walked among them, using his Inspect skill to determine which golems were ready to move to the next realm.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t a single genius among the group who had managed to push their golems beyond their own level or even reached a stage where by Alec could help push the golem with his more advanced knowledge on golems.

With that disappointment out of the way, Alec assigned them a new task, from now on, whenever they practiced their spells, they must also control their golems to perform attacking movements simultaneously.

This command felt like a huge hurdle for the low-rank mages.

They struggled to imagine how they could focus on spellcasting while also issuing proper commands to their golems, dividing their attention between both tasks seemed nearly impossible.

As expected, their initial attempts were terrible, their spells fizzled out, their golems staggered and misfired, and overall, it was a chaotic mess, but Alec didn’t care how many times they failed, in fact, he seemed pleased by their poor performance, because if he saw them as this bad, then they must have an even worse impression of themselves.

Alec was the first Six-Tier Commander in the Gordons clan’s history, and he was also the first to push for every Low rank clansman under him to have at least one reliable golem in their arsenal.

He was doing many things for the first time, but that was because he wanted the best for his clansmen.

He knew their true potential had never been fully tapped, and he was more than ready to bring it to light.

Just imagining the raw battle power they could muster if every single one of his low-rank mages could summon a golem properly and issue proficient commands was a thrilling vision, one he was determined to turn into reality.

In fact, he was ready to shock those who would watch when the Gordons finally took to the battlefield with this his vision.

And that’s exactly why he was so relentless in making them train this way.

Because unlike him who had rare golems at the early stages due to the support of the system, they on the other hand had no such privileges.

They had never been forced to multi-task like this, performing two high-stakes actions at once, actions that might dictate their fates where one fumble could mean they are kicked out of their squad.

But now, they had no choice but to keep pushing, repeating the process over and over again until their mana ran dry, only to rest and start all over again.

To them, it felt like a mini hell, a brutal training ground created by their demonic leader, Alec.

But Alec had one goal in mind, to ensure they repeated this over and over again until they could instinctively cast spells while simultaneously issuing precise commands to their golems.

This wasn’t just about golem control, it was about developing a crucial skill that could push them beyond their limits.

If they could successfully adapt, they wouldn’t just be able to control their golems efficiently, they could even cast multiple spells at once, while the golems also gain little experience point from this due to the system and then he might be able to help them push the golems to the next level.

As members of the Gordons clan, who were renowned for their golems, multi-tasking was a mandatory skill, not an option, as they were not like other golem mages that had their golems do all the fighting for them while they waited behind, no the Gordons fought on the front line alongside their creations.

And that’s exactly why Alec was drilling it into them this early, they were his first project, and he was determined to forge them into warriors worthy of their clan’s legacy.
