The Golem Mage

The clash between Terran and the Minotaur unfolded at an astonishing speed, leaving even the Mid Rank mages struggling to keep up with the intensity of their battle.

They were only able to observe from a distance, the city mages could discern that Terran was enveloped in a condensed brown glow each time he struck.

He skillfully infused his attacks with the power of Earth Essence, while also easily casting a variety of powerful earth elemental spells in rapid succession, shocking most earth mages present with his instant casting speed.

In contrast, the Minotaur emitted a transparent white glow as it unleashed its formidable strength with evident excitement on its face.

Despite the onslaught of the Tier 8 Minotaur, the city mages were taken aback by Terran’s ability to hold his ground and fend off every threatening strike aimed to smash his head, into paste by the Minotaur as it even fought Barbaric.

”How is he able to match the Minotaur’s speed?” Keith pondered, his voice filled with genuine curiosity.

”He shouldn’t possess the strength of a mid-tier 8 Mage.” Keith finally said out loud

Indeed, while Terran may lack the raw power of a Tier 8 Mage, his remarkable technique and lethal attacks were evident.

The mages knew the sacredness of the Tier 8 domain, it serves as a bridge to clarify between the lower Tier 8 mages and the real Tier 8 mages.

Yet, they remained intrigued by Terran’s surprising ability to keep up with the Minotaur’s speed, albeit at a slightly lower pace.

Keith, being the respected leader of the city’s second greatest faction, approached the instructors of the War God Mage Academy.

His voice carried, neither too loud nor too soft, allowing the remarkable mages gathered nearby to hear his inquiry.

”I asked how is he able to match the Minotaur’s speed?”

The mages strained their senses, their mana attuned to catch every word, eager not to miss any hint of valuable information.

As the discussion unfolded, the mages contemplated the possibilities.

They wondered if there was a method to teach other Tier 7 mages, allowing them to bolster their own reaction speed and, ultimately, strike down enemies more swiftly.

The scene buzzed with anticipation as Keith’s question hung in the air, drawing the attention of all, cultivating a shared desire amongst the mages to uncover the secrets behind Terran’s exceptional training and his ability to match the Minotaur’s speed, even if only to a certain extent.

If it was the mages that possessed such coveted techniques, it was likely that they would keep them hidden, alongside their most secretive treasures.

However, since it was someone else’s treasures, the other mages saw no issue with eavesdropping to learn such knowledge.

It revealed the selfishness of the human heart.

The mages from the Academy felt the weight of various gazes upon them, unsure of how to respond to such probing questions.

Though they belonged to the respected Overlord faction, their prestige had diminished over time.

Their pride prevented them from providing answers, fearing that a wrong response would tarnish their reputation.

The instructors of the War God Mage Academy were known for their pride and arrogance.

However, before anyone else could intervene, Walter stepped forward, eager to prevent any potential missteps that could sabotage Terran’s plan.

”Ah, Keith, it is you, You should be aware that such questions about secret techniques, could expose vulnerabilities within mages that uses them, It’s best not to inquire about them,” Walter remarked wearing a slight smile.

In his heart, he cursed Terran for placing him in this position.

He preferred being the low-key character, one who slipped away when matters grew difficult.

But Terran’s decision to appoint him in charge of the War God Mage Academy team forced him into the spotlight, a position he desperately wished to avoid.

Keith’s outburst was likely a trap, an attempt to draw him out from the safety of the crowd, especially since Terran remained occupied battling the Minotaur.

Keith’s words incited the minds of the mages present.

They had grown greedy upon hearing of a technique that could help them match the incredible speed of their higher-ranked counterparts.

Even if they couldn’t engage in direct combat like Terran, having an awareness of battle and speed could potentially save their lives.

And they let there Greed got the best of them, pushing them to desire the sharing of such techniques.

”Yes! If these techniques truly exist, the War God Mage Academy should be sharing them with all of humanity instead of hoarding them as secrets,” one mage exclaimed.

”Considering the act of withholding such techniques could be seen as a national crime,” another added.

” bring out the secret techniques now instructor Walter or don’t you want the progress of the human race ”

Different leaders from various factions who had gathered in Latvia City to aid in the defense against the Blood Moon began making demands.

Keith’s manipulative words had stoked their greed, and even Walter was starting to feel the mounting pressure.

Terran’s prior cautionary message to be careful echoed in Walter’s mind.

Initially, he had believed Terran was simply concerned about the abnormal space gate that spit out a Minotaur

However, when Keith started asking incisive and divisive questions, Walter began suspecting that this could be the opportunity Terran had been waiting for, a chance to lure someone in hiding into a trap.

Deciding to fully embrace the act, Walter aimed to entice Keith to make a mistake that would leave behind noticeable clues, making it easier for Terran to eliminate him using his own deceptive methods.

This line of thinking stemmed from the fact that Keith was the one who instigated all this turmoil by exploiting the selfishness of the main leaders present.

Keith had twisted a negative situation into something masquerading as altruistic by convincing these leaders that they were on the path of justice and that pressing the War God Mage Academy for their secret techniques was the right course of action.

Despite knowing they were in the wrong, their distorted sense of justice currently outweighed any concerns about the consequences that might befall them.

As everything unfolded, it became apparent that all of this had occurred because Terran had valiantly held his ground against the Tier 8 Minotaur.

The same Tier 8 Minotaur that frighten the leaders into feeling like they could die

Where now considering stealing from the same person they believed was fighting to protect them.

This exemplified the darker aspects of the human mind, revealing their willingness to stoop to such thievery driven by their own self-interest.
