THE GOD EATER

Chapter 1251: Looking For Viable Timeline.

Just then, the world began to fade around them. The guardian was still ruminating on what had just happened and didn’t seem to notice. They were thinking about something else.

’I would have done better if I had known he could open the River of Time. Unfortunately, I am only an avatar. If my true body were here, they would have done better,’ he thought, feeling irritated.

As the world faded away, it was replaced by darkness. Matter, energy, space, and time disappeared, making way for nothingness. Very few people were aware of this change, and even fewer were still aware in this nothingness.

A black cube was one of the few that were aware in the darkness. Just earlier, the black cube resisted an invisible force pulling it toward a Gemini youngling.

The Gemini youngling was Onslaught, and after Loki died, an invisible force began to pull the spark of power towards Onslaught.

Unfortunately, the force wasn’t enough to overwhelm the spark of power. In fact, the force was more like a suggestive tug in the direction of Onslaught. Loki ignored it with little effort.

When reality disappeared, leaving him in darkness with one other black cube in the distance, he sighed and said, ”Here goes nothing.”

Then he wiggled and swam through the darkness up to the other cube. This was easy now that he knew the cube in the distance was himself. He could narrow the distance between them with a single thought instead of spending an eternity swimming to catch up.

After he met up with the first cube and fused with it, he jumped onto the next cube and fused with it. Then he jumped onto the next one and then the next one.

Like that, he jumped and jumped, hopping from one version of himself to another. His goal was the beacon of light in the darkness.

The beacon of light was the anchor that would return him to his body. Like the two previous times he found himself in this darkness of nothingness, the beacon is the point in time where the timeline diverges from its normal route.

From his experience so far, he postulated that this darkness of nothingness was created because the timeline disappeared. So the only way to return to reality is to find the point where a new timeline is created to replace the deleted one.

According to his experience, it shouldn’t be difficult for him to return to a viable timeline. In the two previous times, as long as a version of himself existed in the new timeline or beyond the point of divergence in time, he would be able to use that version of himself as an anchor to return to reality.

So far, there hadn’t been any problems returning, so he had the leisure to think about his current state. He said, ”This makes me wonder what I was doing the previous time I reversed time and deleted the timeline.”

”Did I fail to return to a viable timeline in my state, or was I just not aware that the timeline had been deleted? I don’t know which one is worse, as being unable to return means there is a risk of getting lost, while being unaware means that I was destroyed with the deleted timeline.”

”What about other people with the Time Pathway? Can they also delete a timeline? Will I be aware when they do?”

”Maybe I will be aware. Maybe I won’t. But someone like Astra will definitely be aware. After all, he was able to find me even after I reversed time,’ he thought, clicking his tongue in amazement.

’I have a lot of strong opinions about that two-headed freak. But I have to admit that he is very strong. He is absurdly strong, even. I wonder who is stronger between him, the controller of the devourer pathway, and the god king of the Gemini.’

While he was thinking, he finally reached the point of divergence. As soon as he fused with this version of the spark of power in a viable timeline, the darkness around him receded, making way for energy, matter, space, and time.

When he came to, he found himself in a field. 100 men and women stood in ten rows of ten on the large open field. This arrangement formed a neat little square of people.

They stood on an open grass field some distance from buildings. All 100 wore white robes with the insignia of a four-pointed star on their chest. This identified them as fresh lambs in the Four Directions Sect.

In front of them stood a man with black hair, black eyes, fair white skin, and blue robes. His robes also had the insignia of a four-pointed star on his chest. The color of his robes and the insignia identified him as an instructor and a rank 3 cultivator of the Four Directions Sect.

The man’s eyes were unfocused, and he was looking at something unknown far into the distance as he said to them, ”I am Muni. I will be the one to initiate you and turn you into tools fit for the Four Directions Sect.”

His voice was calm and detached as he spoke. His tone, combined with the fact that he wasn’t looking at them, made them feel as if he was talking to himself, not to them.

But when the Loki within the spark of power heard his words, he realized where he was, and a storm of emotions was stirred within his heart.

’Did I get lost?’ he asked in confusion.

As if to answer the question, the experiences of the portion of his mind within the Devouring Supreme Metac surged into his mind as the fusion was completed.

After trying and failing to find a copy of himself in the past to fuse with, his mind within Fenrir had crossed the boundary beyond the awakening of his Energy Well. Surprisingly, there was no pain. There was only immense resistance and turbulence.
