THE GOD EATER

No divine being who fell in rank liked the experience. Some of them even began to complain while others began pleading with the sect to restore their Dao Status.

Some of their behavior and reaction came within sight of Black Chains. When he saw how they were behaving, he thought to himself, ’Ungrateful wretches. I wonder how they would have liked it if I had drained all of their lifespans before I dropped the Forging Supreme Metac.’

Actually, he didn’t let them live because he was generous. He wanted to use the life leech to drain their lifespan and kill them before losing the Forging Pathway. But he didn’t do it because he didn’t have time to do so.

He was in a rush to make a statement. Besides, lifespan is not his most important need right now.

So he ignored the ungrateful people and turned to Tepid Scholar, saying, ”What do you think now?”

Tepid Scholar calmly took the Forging Supreme Metac as he said, ”I have seen your sincerity. As they say, action speaks louder than words. Nothing speaks louder about the danger of the dragon than if it can force you to give up on one of your pathways.”

”Be that as it may, I am still unwilling to tangle with the dragon. I can only say that the dragon forcing you to do this has spoken too loudly about its danger. If the dragon can force you to do this, then I don’t think it is a good idea for me to mess with him.”

Understandably, Black Chains became angry when he heard this. He said in an angry, loud voice, ”Didn’t you say that if we work together we should be able to overwhelm the dragon? I’ve given you what you asked for. What more do you want from me? Or were you just lying to get what you wanted?”

Tepid Scholar replied, saying, ”I didn’t lie about that claim. I still think it is possible for us to overwhelm the dragon.”

”Unfortunately for you, times have changed. I have no more reasons to fight the dragon, and you can’t make me do it. You’ve become desperate and have lost all of your leverage.”

As he spoke, his avatar rose into the air. The avatar didn’t enter the third dimension to return through the way it came. Instead, it rose directly to the sky of the first dimension to meet the true body through the rift in the sky.

This method of returning to his true body is more dangerous because anyone who follows his avatar can use the rift to find the location of his true body in the third heaven. But in this situation, Tepid Scholar had to use this method.

Not only is this method straightforward and faster than entering the third dimension and rising into the third Heaven, but it is also the best one to use to bring a Supreme Metac back to the true body.

After all, the Forging Pathway is no longer in the divine constellation. So he needs to bring the Forging Supreme Metac back to the true body and have the true body reestablish the Forging Pathway in the divine constellation.

The other thing to be worried about right now is the interference of the other Dao Lords. If they try to stop his avatar or take this opportunity to find his true body, there could be a lot of trouble.

Black Chains raged and roared at Tepid Scholar, but he didn’t make a move to stop Tepid Scholar. He didn’t even attack with his main body. This made everyone realize just how useless he had become.

Martial Will didn’t stop Tepid Scholar either. Both he and Heavenly Eye were too busy trying to kill Black Chain’s avatars to stop Tepid Scholar.

As for Carefree Immortal, Immovable Mountain, and Green Fire, they didn’t have an avatar nearby to interfere in the fight for them. If they created an avatar now, the avatar could only be created in one of the worlds with their sects on it. So it would take time for that avatar to come to the Blessed Heaven World and stop Tepid Scholar.

By the time their avatar reached the scene, Tepid Scholar’s avatar would be long gone. Plus, creating an avatar would also expose them to the risk of losing the pathway. These two reasons made the act of creating an avatar to interfere not worth it.

Since the avatars of the Dao Lords were too busy or absent at the scene, no one could stop Tepid Scholar. This allowed the scholarly avatar with numbers in his eyes to reach the sky and enter the rift in the sky.

After securing his avatar and the Forging Pathway, Tepid Scholar sighed in relief. Then he smiled at Black Chains and said, ”I wish you good luck on your endeavors.”

In response, Black Chains snorted and said, ”No, you don’t.”

This made Tepid Scholar laugh and say, ”No, I don’t.”

”You’re right. I want you to fail. I want you to become weaker. Then I want to beat you to death.”

Black Chain didn’t bother to beg for mercy or apologize for the things he had done in hopes of avoiding punishment from Tepid Scholar.

Instead, he sneered and said, ”With the Forging Pathway in your grasp, the day you think you’re ready to fight me should come soon. As for whether you can kill me, that is not yet certain.”

”Is that so?” Tepid Scholar asked.

But before Black Chains could reply, he shook his head and said, ”It doesn’t matter if you’re bluffing or truly confident. I will know for sure when I beat your head in.”

As he spoke, the pressure of his existence seemed to increase. It was as if he was getting stronger by the moment.

When the other Dao Lords saw this, they thought it was reasonable that Tepid Scholar was already assimilating the Forging Supreme Metac so soon. After all, the Forging Pathway used to belong to him.
