THE GOD EATER

Black Chains didn’t say anything in response to the accusation of being a bad master. Instead of defending himself, he said to Sword Maestro, ”What do you think about this idiot’s ranting?”

Sword Maestro answered without hesitation, ”He is mistaken.”

This made Black Chains smile as he said, ”Then tell him so. Don’t just watch as your master is slandered. Speak up to defend your master.”

Sword Maestro had no choice, so he said angrily to Martial Will, ”If you don’t know what you’re talking about, you should keep quiet. No one will think you’re foolish if you don’t talk. In fact, you will come off as someone smart when you don’t open your mouth to spill drivel.”

But Martial Will said in disdain, ”Your advice doesn’t count for much if you’re being schooled by a junior. Maybe if you weren’t being humiliated so badly, I would take you seriously and mind my business.”

”Then again, I need to be beaten before I can allow anyone to tell me what to do. So maybe I wouldn’t listen to you even if some random dragon was making a mockery of the title of Dao Lord through you.”

Sword Maestro didn’t want to waste time arguing with Martial Will, so he ignored him and said to Black Chains, ”Please don’t mind his words, master. He is just a fool who doesn’t know what he is talking about?”

Black Chain liked Sword Maestro’s attitude, so he smiled and said, ”You’re right, my disciple.”

Sword Maestro took this opportunity to say, ”So will you help me?”

But Black Chain shook his head and said, ”Not so fast. It seems you forgot something in the way you just addressed me.”

Sword Maestro was taken aback by this statement for a while. But then he remembered what he had omitted.

So he said, ”So will you help me, master?”

Black Chain replied with a frown, saying, ”Why does your face look like that? Why do your eyes look like you’re angry? Is something causing you distress?”

Sword Maestro wanted to snap in anger because his face was actually expressionless and his eyes were calm. There were no signs of anger on his face, so he wanted to say, ”What is wrong with you? Why do you keep making up things to make me angry? Is humiliating me so fun?”

But he remembered what he was doing all of this for, so he reined in his anger and composed himself better.

He also smiled and said, ”Not at all, master. I am fine.”

Black Chains asked, saying, ”Are you sure? You know you can tell your master anything. Just tell me if there is a problem and I’ll do my best to help.”

But Sword Maestro insisted, saying, ”Really, I’m fine. There is no problem with me.”

Black Chains still didn’t believe him, but he decided to act like a good master and let the matter go. So instead of bringing up the matter of why Sword Maestro looked constipated, he changed the subject.

He said, ”It is good that you’re fine. Now, what was it that you asked me for earlier?”

Sword Maestro’s eyes wanted to twitch in anger when he heard that question. But against all odds, he managed to keep his facial expression stoic and say, ”I asked for your help, master.”

In response, Black Chains exclaimed, saying, ”Oh. That’s right. You wanted my help.”

As if he was just remembering something he forgot, he said, ”You’re that prodigal son who denounced his master but has returned in his time of need to ask for help.”

Then he said to Sword Maestro, ”That’s you, right?”

Sword Maestro nodded and said in reply, ”Yes. I’m the prodigal son.”

But Black Chains shook his head and said, ”There is no need to call yourself a prodigal son. We all make mistakes. As long as you realize what you did wrong, that’s good enough for me.”

As he spoke, he paid close attention to Sword Maestro’s face. He wanted to see Sword Maestro’s pain and despair. He also wanted to make Sword Maestro angry.

He isn’t doing all of these and trying to provoke Sword Maestro just because it is pleasurable. It is definitely pleasurable. But he also wanted to delay giving an answer for as long as possible so that Sword Maestro would lose more lifespan.

He hasn’t decided if he will help Sword Maestro or not. But he wants to make sure that if he refuses to help Sword Maestro and instead decides to take advantage of the situation to kill Sword Maestro, the Dao Lord of the Sword Way Sect will be easier to kill.

He can help Sword Maestro, but the only reason he will do so now is to make sure that only he will be able to kill Sword Maestro. After all, this is something that is a long time coming.

He founded the Four Directions Sect, which raised Sword Maestro to rank 8. Then he allowed Sword Maestro to create a Supreme Metac.

Not only did he allow Sword Maestro to create the Supreme Metac, but he also provided all of the raw materials that Sword Maestro used to create the Supreme Metac. All he asked in return was for Sword Maestro to let him borrow the Supreme Metac. But Sword Maestro was stingy.

As if a disciple refusing to help his master wasn’t bad enough, Sword Maestro even betrayed him and switched sides to another Sect. So Sword Maestro was a selfish traitor. But his betrayal didn’t end there.

At that time, Black Chains refused to lose Sword Maestro and descended with an avatar to kill the new rank 9 Dao Initiate. The other Dao Lords took advantage of that to gang up on him.

Normally, he didn’t need to create an avatar to harvest a mature fruit like Sword Maestro. The mark the spirit of his pathway placed on Sword Maestro on the day the young man joined the Four Directions Sect should have been enough to cripple Sword Maestro.
