THE GOD EATER

If that enemy was a Dao Lord, it would explain how such a strong cultivator suddenly appeared in the pathway without his notice. It would also explain how the enemy was able to deactivate the Forced Exchange Metac.

After all, only a Dao Lord of a pathway should be able to deactivate a Divine Metac of that pathway like this. So it made sense to guess that the enemy was a Dao Lord.

But he didn’t want to believe that the enemy was a Dao Lord at all. Especially not when that enemy had asked him if he knew how to create a Supreme Metac.

If that person were a Dao Lord, the act of asking him how to create a Supreme Metac has now become an attempt to test his capabilities and see if he is ready to break away from the pathway and from the sect.

When he thought about this, his heart skipped another beat as he said inwardly, ’Am I screwed or am I done for?`

Right now, he believes that his situation is either bad or worse than bad. He doesn’t believe that there is any good side to his situation or any silver lining in the dark clouds shrouding his life that he should look forward to. This is because he is guilty of what the Dao Lord is suspecting him of.

If he hadn’t reached the quasi-supreme grandmaster level of mastery and didn’t know that a Supreme Metac is essentially a vessel of law created by the superimposition and combination of complete instruction sets in the form of Divine Metacs, he would have nothing to be worried about.

But he knew how to create a Supreme Metac, and he had already begun to plan how to use that information to break away from the Money Pathway and create his own pathway that he could become the lord of. So now that the sect was suspecting him of trying to break away, he couldn’t be carefree.

This conundrum made him start pacing about again. He was pacing while trying to come up with a solution for the situation.

Of course, he doesn’t plan to give up on his plans to escape. At this point, he has lived too long as a slave.

He can’t bear to have anyone ride over him or control him anymore. In fact, he has reached his limit about this, such that he would rather die than continue living like a slave. So the suspicion of the sect isn’t enough to stop him.

He is determined to go through his plan even if it is the last thing he will do. However, he also wants his plan to be successful. Since the suspicion of the sect might reduce his chances of success, this suspicion and how to avoid it is something he has to find a solution to before he goes through with his plan.

While he was planning and scheming, he remembered that he had entertained the thought of coming to Forced Exchange’s rescue just because he suspected that the enemy didn’t know how to create a Supreme Metac and shouldn’t be able to control up to four Divine Metacs at the same time.

When he remembered this, he laughed inwardly as he thought, ’To think I wanted to fight a Dao Lord. It seems I have lived long enough and want to die, right?’

Then he shook his head and said inwardly, ’Forget being able to use four Divine Metacs at the same time, a Dao Lord might be able to use every Divine Metac at the same time.’

’You know what, I believe that’s what that person was doing. They were using more than four Divine Metacs, which was why it cost Forced Exchange so much lifespan to heal his injuries.’

When he thought about how a Dao Lord was more than capable of killing Forced Exchange instantly, but had toyed with him, and when he remembered how the Dao Lord had teased him by asking him if he knew how to make a Supreme Metac, he became angry.

He was angry with the Dao Lord for treating him like a child, but he was also angry with himself for being weak. The worst part was that he could only keep his anger within his heart and couldn’t express it because the Dao Lord might be watching everything going on in his Cave Heaven through the Divine Positions.

His stifled anger made him grit his teeth and say to himself, ’It is only for a while. Soon, I will become free. I will become free, or I will die trying.’

Either he dies or advances to rank 9. In both cases, he will regain his freedom and will stop living as a slave.

Until then, he has to continue to behave himself. This is a must since he currently doesn’t have the strength to resist a Dao Lord. In fact, even if he advances to rank 9, he will still not be able to contend with a Dao Lord.

So after thinking about everything that just happened, he sighed in relief and thought, ’Fortunately, I didn’t go out to fight them earlier. If I had done so, I would be dead by now, and the entire Cave Heaven would be what collapsed, not a small part of it.’

He also chuckled as he thought, ’It is also a good thing that I didn’t want to make a move to avenge the death of the old Gold Body. It is a good thing that I sent Forced Exchange to do my bidding. I guess this is what makes having slaves so great.’

After a while with nothing new happening, Money Body waved his hands and said to them, ”It seems that the last of it. You should get back to work.”

Everyone else relaxed when they heard this. They were not completely convinced that no more unfortunate things would happen. But for now, they were grateful for the peace and quiet.
