While they were walking to the registration area, Auric couldn’t help but sigh.

”Don’t be so down, Captain.” Ellia smirked, teasing Auric.

Auric continued to sigh, still remembering their conversation a minute ago.

”What? Me? A captain? No way. I don’t have such an experience.”

”It’s good. This is your opportunity to learn how to be one.” Ellia nodded.

”Indeed. While you don’t have experience, you have the ability to lead. If you don’t understand something, we can help you. But it’s good that you are a captain.” Katarina supported her.

”There are two reasons. First, she claimed she was here for you. And you are much closer to me and Katarina than I am to Katarina. That’s the second reason.”

Auric was speechless. On the one hand, he doubted his ability as a captain. On the other hand, he wanted to do it because, as they said, this was a good opportunity.

Auric let out a long sigh. ”Fine. I will do it.”

”Very well. All that is left is for you to decide the name.” Katarina winked.

”Well, if it’s the name, it’s obvious, isn’t it? It’s obviously ’Night and Day.’ Night and day, I think ’Night and Day’ is a good name.” Auric grinned playfully.

Katarina chuckled. ”Night and day I hear you saying that ’night and day’ line. You must really like that line.”

As someone who had worked for Auric for two weeks, Katarina had already gotten used to Auric’s playful behavior.

Ellia, on the other hand, adjusted easily, not wanting to lose. ”Night and day I think we shouldn’t delay what we need to do. So, start moving.”

...

Auric was a bit nervous, but it seemed he had no choice but to focus on his role as the captain.

’By the way, Lindwurm, I might ask you to provide some directions later, but for now, I want to use my own senses to scan the area.’

If he squinted his eyes, he could at least see through trees or rocks as long as they were not too thick or too far away. So, it was possible for him to locate beasts even in a jungle.

For the time being, that was what he intended to do without Lindwurm’s support.

”Isn’t that the usual? I guess you’re fired up now.” Lindwurm agreed as usual.

’No. I want you to keep an eye on Eva. If there’s something suspicious about her, tell me about it.’

”Oh! Fine.” Lindwurm thought that he was safer this way. After all, Katarina could fight someone like Eva on her own. It should buy them time to cooperate with each other.

After she was satisfied with teasing Auric, Ellia turned to Vera and Eric. ”By the way, you two. Do you mind sharing a tent? I have a curtain with me.”

”Sharing a tent?” Vera tilted her head in confusion.

”Yeah. Right now, the pairing will be me with Auric, Katarina with Eva, and you with Eric. We will create a four-hour rotation for the night watch.”

”Hmm...” Vera thought for a moment. ”I personally don’t mind.”

”If she doesn’t mind, I can agree to it too.” Eric nodded.

Vera suddenly turned to Eric with a playful smile. ”I don’t need a curtain. Just make sure you keep your hands to yourself, all right? Don’t touch me in my sleep, or it might lead to an elopement or other things that will result in my family hunting you down.”

”You think too highly of yourself. Maybe even your family has no choice but to fear me.” Eric snorted.

Auric suddenly stopped when he heard their conversation. He looked back and forth at them.

Shouldn’t they be more reserved about it?

Of course, he and Ellia slept in one hut on their first mission together. But that was because he managed to make a hut.

Eric, on the other hand, wasn’t doing anything special. Vera previously looked down on them.

But for some reason, she had changed her attitude toward them, especially toward Eric after she had rescued him.

Auric looked surprised before covering his mouth. ’Ah, this...’

”Pfft! Hahahaha.” Lindwurm laughed out loud. ”This is spicy.”

Auric looked away, trying to calm his heart down. He didn’t expect that there was such a thing behind him.

Vera and Eric might have been in touch all this time.

’Ellia might not realize this, but she has just become a wingman for her rival.’ Auric had a hard time containing his laugh.

”Besides, Eric’s talent is quite high. Don’t you think it’s possible for them?” Lindwurm grinned.

’It’s possible. Eric’s determination and willpower might be stronger than mine. He might have Grade A affinity, but if I give him the artificial heart method in the future, his talent will increase to Grade S affinity. With his determination, I have no doubt that Eric will be able to become extremely strong. After all, he can keep up with Tommi and me.’

”But for now, you should restrain yourself. He’s not strong enough, so it might end up causing a problem for him.”

’I know. Even though my hand is itching, I will be a good boy.’

In the end, Auric remained silent while listening to their conversation with a smile in his heart.

They registered their group as ’Night and Day’ and received their respective cameras.

While distributing the cameras, Ellia also distributed earphones.

”Please wear them for communication. I have tuned everything, so you don’t need to adjust anything else.”

”Good.” Katarina nodded.

Suddenly, a helicopter sound echoed from the distance.

The alarm of the base rang as the microphone announced, ”All students, whether you’ve registered or not, are advised to head to the airfield.”

Everyone was confused, but they followed the instructions, considering it was an event that the military held.

They could see a small stage set up in the middle of the airfield.

The helicopter that had been flying above the base finally moved toward the airfield and hovered above the stage.

A man sat down on the edge before jumping off the helicopter.

”Someone is jumping!”

”Kyaa!”

”Watch out!”

They thought the man would get hurt, but right before he touched the ground, a gust of wind abruptly slowed his descent, allowing him to land on the stage smoothly.

The middle-aged man had short green hair as if it had been influenced by his wind element. Even though his body didn’t look muscular, everyone could feel a chill when they looked at him.

His eyes carried the aura of a predator.

However, the one that stood out the most was the four stars on his chest. In other words, he was actually one of the highest-ranking generals in the country.

But for some reason, Auric felt the man looked familiar. It was at this time that he turned his head to the right, staring at Vera.

”!!!” Auric widened his eyes and compared them. ”Ehm...”

”Don’t say anything. I know what you want to say. Even I don’t expect this...” Vera let out a long sigh. ”To think my uncle would be the one hosting this event...”

Auric was speechless. He turned out to be right. The general in front of him was Vera’s relative.

It was no wonder Vera wasn’t exactly afraid of Ellia. Even her family was terrifying. Unlike Lunaria, who retired after marrying into the Relesha family, Vera’s uncle remained in the military and continued to grow in rank.

As soon as he reached the stage, he smiled excitedly.

”I am Marcel Schneider. I will be the one hosting this year’s hunting event. For now, you only need to know four things.

”First, you need to be the one taking care of your own life. If you want to be reckless, do it in a smart way. Dying because of your own foolishness is your own fault.

”Second, the duration of this hunt is one month. You are free to do whatever you want during this month.

”Third, I will monitor the entire thing. If you are going to use my own men to suit your agenda, those foolish men will be disciplined or even have to quit as soldiers. Of course, you who dare to use your own influence here will have your family receive a love call from me personally.

”Lastly, this will be the reward for this event.”

He snapped his fingers.

Boxes began falling one after another from the helicopter. The wind made sure the boxes didn’t get destroyed before opening their lids and taking out their contents.

”Wow!”

”What weapon is that?”

”It might be a magic item!”

General Marcel explained, ”You can see the list through your own smartphone. I’m sure that the soldiers have given you the link to the website for this event. However, I want to announce the grand prize.

”For this event, the grand prize will be a weapon ticket. The team that takes the top spot will receive a rank 5 weapon ticket. In other words, you can exchange it with the military to either pick your own weapon or ask them to forge it for you.

”More importantly, this rank 5 weapon will be considered a magic item.”

”!!!”

”As expected, it’s a magic item!”

”A normal weapon alone is already hard to get, but a magic item?”

”Although there’s a limit to how much they can be used, a magic item is a magic item.”

”Magic items are extremely rare because not many can make them.”

”This is so good!”

A lot of people cheered in excitement, determined to get such a weapon for themselves.

”Of course, the entire team will receive five high-quality artifacts,” General Marcel added.

”What?”

”Even artifacts?”

”We are eating well this year.”

They became even more excited.

General Marcel raised his hand. ”I’m sure you’re already excited, so I will tell you how to do this. Make sure you record your own kill with the camera that has been provided. You can check your points through the website, and it will be updated every five minutes.

”You can keep everything you find here, but if you turn it over to the military, you will receive points. This is the exchange.”

Rank 1 Beast - 1 point.

Rank 2 Beast - 5 points.

Rank 3 Beast - 20 points.

Rank 4 Beast - 100 points.

Rank 1 Artifact - 50 points.

Rank 2 Artifact - 200 points.

Rank 3 Artifact - 500 points.

Rank 4 Artifact - 2,000 points.

”You will be granted access to all facilities in this area. You can use your points to get services from our people. Get your points, manage them, and win. It’s simple, right?

”However, I will need to give you a warning. There is no infighting inside any facility. If it happens, you will be either penalized or disqualified. I might have to ’escort’ you out directly.

”You can participate in this event however you want, so do your best.

”If you open the website, you will find access to our choppers. You can pick your destination and find the schedule over there. The first time will be free, but you will need to use your points to ride it for the second time.

”With all that out of the way, I wish you luck, warriors. Do your best and work smart. Survive and get stronger. Show your talent and ability in this place!”
