The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: You’re Still Alive? That’s Great

Veteran: Alright, stop spamming. From what I know, three people from this group were killed last night, and a lot of Demon Hunters in other groups died tragically!

Suddenly, Veteran popped up.

As soon as his message was sent, it immediately sparked a heated discussion in the group.

’Three people were killed in this group alone?’

It even caused a few long-time lurkers to surface.

They also started discussing the matter.

Lin Yi watched for a moment before putting his phone away with a slight frown.

The situation last night had been extremely brutal.

Many Demon Hunters, and even Martial Artists who weren’t Demon Hunters at all, had gone out Demon Hunting.

The consequences were predictable.

The number of Martial Artists killed by demons was in the dozens, if not over a hundred.

Moreover, the news had already reported it today.

This wasn’t just happening in Xinghai City; over a dozen other cities in the Old District had successively reported incidents of large numbers of demons invading.

Aside from the Martial Artists who practiced Martial Arts, the casualties among ordinary citizens were even more severe.

The Martial Arts Police Stations in every city also suffered heavy losses.

Xinghai City’s Martial Arts Police Station alone lost over a dozen people last night...

Lin Yi sighed softly, offering a moment of silence for the Martial Artists who had died so tragically.

’Looks like I’m destined to come up empty-handed tonight!’

After a long moment, he opened his eyes and looked down at the city below.

It was pitch black everywhere, with no sign of a single demon.

Rather than continue wasting time here, he might as well go home and cultivate the Star River Qi Transformation Technique to improve his Qi and Blood.

If he could break through to 2-star soon, he’d have the confidence he needed for the Martial Arts exam.

He could then use the remaining month or so to focus on breaking through the bottleneck to 3-star.

He’d strive to achieve this small goal before the Martial Arts exam.

With that, Lin Yi leaped, his body landing lightly on the roof of a slightly shorter building over ten meters away.

Then, after a few more consecutive jumps, he gradually descended to the ground.

He was like a ghost in the night.

He completely melted into the darkness and vanished without a trace.

...

「Early morning.」

The alarm clock rang.

Lin Yi pulled himself out of the Star River.

He glanced at the time: 6:15 AM.

Although he didn’t have to go to school anymore,

he still maintained his habit of waking up early.

Just as he was about to go to the bathroom, his phone rang.

”Hello? Lin Yi? Holy shit... Thank god, you’re still alive!”

Lin Yi had just answered the call when Wei Nan’s voice came through.

”Calling to curse me first thing in the morning?” Lin Yi said with a laugh.

”No, no... I’m not cursing you! You know I’m in that intensive training camp, right? I don’t usually get a chance to look at my phone.

Last night, I waited until that old bastard was asleep and secretly grabbed my phone to take a look!”

”I saw on the news that something big happened the night before last? I got worried you might have run off to go Demon Hunting. I wanted to call you in the middle of the night to check, but I was afraid of waking you up...”

”Thank goodness, thank goodness. Hearing your voice, I can finally relax!”

Wei Nan’s tone clearly relaxed.

After listening to him finish, Lin Yi felt a warmth spread through his heart.

’He was probably the only friend who genuinely cared about him anymore.’

”Thanks...”

Lin Yi said softly.

”What? What did you just say? Thanks? Holy shit, are you talking to me?

What’s up? We haven’t seen each other for just over a month and you’re already getting all distant on me? You’re fucking telling me ’thanks’?”

”You just wait ’til I get back. I’ll be home in another month. I swear I’ll make sure we get our friendship back on track!”

Wei Nan said hysterically.

Lin Yi: ”...”

”By the way, what did you just call your master? ’Old bastard’? You’re being so disrespectful. Are you trying to turn on your master?” Lin Yi recalled the term he had used for his teacher.

He chided him a little.

”You’re not here. You don’t know what it’s like.

That old bastard... No, I mean, my master, he’s basically a psycho!”

”He doesn’t just torture himself, he tortures me right along with him!”

”You know what I’m like, right? I’m not afraid of a little hardship. For him to push me to the point of cursing... well, you can just imagine how bad it is!”

”Bro, in this past month, I’ve pretty much endured a lifetime’s worth of suffering!”

”I’ve never seen such a psychopathic old bastard...”

Wei Nan vented angrily.

Lin Yi, on the other hand, listened quietly.

After he’d been complaining for over ten minutes, Wei Nan’s voice suddenly dropped to a whisper.

”Alright, I gotta go. I’ll call you when I have time. The old bastard’s coming to find me.

I’ve gotta get to work!”

”Work?”

Lin Yi was taken aback. Just as he was about to ask a few more questions,

the line went dead.

He was now starting to wonder just what kind of life Wei Nan was living.

’Intensive training also requires... work?’

’Could it be that he has to do his master’s laundry and cooking? Or even warm his bed?’

The image made Lin Yi shudder.

But there was nothing he could do to help, so he could only offer his friend some silent sympathy in his heart.

...

「The Lin Family Residence.」

Lin Dazhi had just come out of the bathroom.

Liu Hongmei blocked his path, a grim expression on her face.

”What’s wrong?”

Lin Dazhi glanced at her and asked, a little puzzled.

Liu Hongmei’s face was ashen, filled with panic and anxiety.

Even her lips were trembling slightly.

”Xiaoyu, Xiaoyu... he didn’t come home all night!”

Hearing this, Lin Dazhi froze for a moment.

Then he laughed. ”He’s not a child anymore. Isn’t it normal for him not to come home?”

”Besides, I’ve noticed that Lin Yu has been getting more and more mysterious lately!”

”He’s always leaving early and coming back late. I have no idea what he’s busy with. If you’re worried, just give him a call and ask!”

These days, Lin Dazhi’s concern for Lin Yu was nothing like it used to be.

In fact, it was as if Lin Yu had become a stranger to him.

After he finished speaking, he walked around Liu Hongmei and headed for the living room.

After a moment, Liu Hongmei followed him.

”Old Lin, don’t you care about Xiaoyu at all?”

”He was out all night. Don’t you even want to ask what he was doing?”

Liu Hongmei stared at Old Lin in disbelief.

But Old Lin simply picked up the newspaper and began to read at a leisurely pace.

”Is there any point in asking? Do you think he listens to me?”

”Forget it. Just go make breakfast. I have to go to work after I eat!”

Old Lin’s cold-bloodedness frightened Liu Hongmei.

Ever since Lin Yi had left the family,

everyone in the house had changed.

First, there was Lin Yu. His movements had become strange and unpredictable, and he was often out from early morning until late at night.

And every time he came back, he carried the faint scent of blood.

He wouldn’t say anything when she asked, and pressing him further would only anger him.

This was something that had never happened before...

Then there was Lin Dazhi. He was like a different person, too.

He was indifferent to the family, and his former warmth toward her and Lin Yu had vanished.

He no longer asked about anything Lin Yu did.

It seemed like she was the only one who hadn’t changed.

And in this family atmosphere, she was on the verge of being driven mad.

Just as they were talking, the front door opened.

Liu Hongmei quickly turned to look and saw Lin Yu walk in with his head down.

The smell of blood immediately filled the living room.

Liu Hongmei hurried over to Lin Yu.

Her eyes red with worry, she said, ”Xiaoyu, where have you been all night? Tell Mom, did something happen to you?”

As she finished speaking, Lin Yu shot her a cold glance.

”I’m fine. I’m going to my room to sleep. Don’t bother me!”

Tossing out that one sentence, Lin Yu headed for his bedroom.

After the soft THUD of the door closing,

no matter how hard Liu Hongmei knocked, there was no sound from inside.

She looked back helplessly at Lin Dazhi,

as if hoping for his help.

However, Lin Dazhi just sat there, reading his newspaper.

It was as if he was completely oblivious to what had just happened.

He didn’t even say a single word...

At that moment, Liu Hongmei was about to lose her mind.

She had a strong feeling in her heart that this family was about to fall apart.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind.

’If they hadn’t forced Lin Yi away back then,’

’would things have turned out this way?’

Old Lin’s indifference.

Lin Yu’s strangeness.

This family already existed in name only...
