The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Liu Yuqing chuckled and said, ”Okay.”

Since she planned to give Fu Yu a surprise, Liu Yuqing didn’t intend to tell Fu Yu about her plans to buy a house.

After all, Fu Yu had already rented a place, and the rent was paid, so it was fine to stay there for now.

Moreover, a new house needs renovations, and it would take at least a year or so to move in.

At the moment, there’s no need to mention this to Fu Yu since it’s still too early.

A woman’s mind is always meticulous.

Liu Yuqing liked Fu Yu, so she couldn’t help but think about him in everything she did.

...

Fu Yu arrived at the store the next morning and found out that Liu Yuqing had suddenly switched shifts.

However, he remembered that Liu Yunong invited him to dinner that night, introducing herself as Liu Yuqing’s sister.

To be honest, he was a bit nervous.

Fu Yu thought, this could be considered his first time meeting Liu Yuqing’s family.

Last night, he was so excited he couldn’t sleep, rummaging through his two branded outfits, spraying water, ironing folds, and even taking a bath in the middle of the night.

He got up half an hour early in the morning, carefully shaving the stubble off his face in the bathroom mirror.

Had the conditions allowed, Fu Yu would have even sprayed on some cologne.

In truth, he didn’t really care about his image or quality of life, but tonight wasn’t just about meeting his mentor; it was about meeting his future big sister, so he had to take it seriously.

Throughout the morning, Fu Yu couldn’t focus on anything else, just waiting for the evening’s dinner.

If it weren’t for work obligations, he’d rather do nothing and head straight to the restaurant to wait at the entrance.

So, when Meng Dan suddenly called him, Fu Yu was a bit surprised.

Meng Dan said over the phone that their sales office was holding a promotional event today and hoped Fu Yu could come by to act as an ”inside agent” for the sales center.

There was a big raffle event, and the biggest prize couldn’t just be given to an ordinary homebuyer, so they wanted Fu Yu to be the pre-determined winner.

This event was decided by their company leadership to both boost homebuying atmosphere and serve as effective indirect promotion.

And they wanted Fu Yu for this role because he was actually a real homebuyer, so there would be no issues of being discovered later.

As for the reward they planned to give Fu Yu, it was the home renovation subsidy he had already received.

Except, nominally, it was converted into cash, the grand prize, 180,000 yuan.

The event was scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon.

That time coincided perfectly with the store’s break time.

Fu Yu didn’t hesitate much and agreed to go help.

After all, you’re at someone’s mercy, and considering the relationship with Yao Shi, he would definitely agree to this even if he had to take time off.

Fu Yu went to greet Zhao Meng, and Zhao Meng agreed with him going to help upon hearing the situation.

After getting permission from Zhao Meng, he added, ”Then I won’t be coming back in the afternoon.”

Zhao Meng, not catching on, casually replied, ”It’s already so late, don’t bother coming back; just go to your mentor’s place directly. I’ll have Chef Yao and Accountant Xin handle your clocking in.”

Fu Yu chuckled and said, ”I don’t need to go over there tonight.”

Zhao Meng was taken aback: ”Why’s that?”

Fu Yu lowered his voice and said, ”Xiaoqing told me last night that her family wants to invite me for dinner today.”

Zhao Meng realized that Liu Yunong was going to reveal her relationship with Liu Yuqing as sisters, and he grinned from ear to ear.

What does this mean?

It means Liu Yunong acknowledges Fu Yu and Liu Yuqing’s relationship.

Liu Yuqing is Liu Yunong’s biological sister, and in their social circle, that’s considered sort of upper class, right?

Zhao Meng was genuinely happy for Fu Yu, and instead of urging Fu Yu to hurry to the sales office for the raffle, he wasn’t in a rush to let Fu Yu leave now.

He pulled Fu Yu aside, repeatedly reminding him, ”Even though it’s your mentor, don’t go empty-handed for dinner. Buy some cosmetics or something from the mall to take over. After dinner, don’t rush back. If your mentor doesn’t object, just take Xiaoqing out for a date!”

Zhao Meng always felt that Fu Yu seemed smart and lively at times, but when it came to love, he certainly lacked experience.

He worried that Fu Yu might mess up meeting the family for the first time, not knowing how to charm the girl.

Fu Yu felt that Zhao Meng treated him like his own son, that concern comparable to his parents’.

Zhao Meng eagerly advised Fu Yu, ”And you know, whatever’s happening at home, your mentor already knows everything. Since they’ve decided to reveal their identity, it means they approve of you and Xiaoqing being together. So, don’t be too nervous, just interact as usual, got it?”

Actually, there was one thing Zhao Meng didn’t say to Fu Yu directly, but privately, when he and Yao Shi were drinking together, they did chat about it in detail.

When Zhao Meng talked about Fu Yu’s love life, he was all smiles, listening to Yao Shi’s feelings.

”Xiaofu is really lucky. Liu Yuqing is so beautiful! They’re truly a great match.”

”I bet Liu Yunong was quite shocked when she found out too. This is like keeping good things within the family, right? Haha!”

Yao Shi had a fondness for Fu Yu due to his connection with Liu Yunong.

But over time, he found that Fu Yu was genuinely a nice guy, with a good personality and excellent cooking skills, surely destined for a promising future.

Naturally, he hoped Fu Yu would have a good life and marry into a family with a pretty wife, good family background, and an adorable personality sooner rather than later.

Zhao Meng, listening to Yao Shi praise Fu Yu, couldn’t help but agree, nodding along.

To say the least, Fu Yu truly was lucky, first becoming Liu Yunong’s disciple and then getting to know Liu Yuqing.

If those two steps had been swapped, this romance might not have gone so smoothly.

Typically, when a girl takes her boyfriend to meet her parents, the guy is always dressed to the nines, and when they meet, he boasts like crazy, pretending to be someone he’s not.

After a few encounters, as the understanding deepens, it turns out to be either a flashy but useless idiot or someone mundane and uninspiring, sometimes with a job or background that doesn’t match up.

Fu Yu was completely transparent to the Liu family from head to toe before they uncovered anything bad.

Liu Yunong’s understanding of him was thorough.

With each little interaction, she discovered more of Fu Yu’s virtues.

He’s outgoing and warm-hearted, doesn’t tease others, doesn’t gossip, and doesn’t brag or talk nonsense.

With strangers, he’s always generous, never acting stingy or deceptive.

A man in his twenties, yet so considerate of his parents, frequently sending things home, and making daily calls to ensure they were safe and sound.

Nowadays, young men like Fu Yu, who are filial and well-behaved, are truly rare.

A man who has such a pleasing appearance, yet is reliable and manly in words and deeds - it’s a unique combination of contrasting qualities, making him an extraordinary find in this era.

Especially Fu Yu’s talent and dedication to the culinary arts deeply impressed Liu Yunong.

She taught Fu Yu hand-in-hand, as her own apprentice, sincerely passing down her cooking skills.

A mentor always loves talented and hardworking students like Fu Yu.

Liu Yunong was no exception.

Unintentionally, she began to acknowledge Fu Yu and Liu Yuqing’s relationship.

She also started to develop a sense of approval and acceptance.

With her age and experience, her understanding of relationships had settled into a pattern of thinking, beyond the impulsive age, not likely to deviate from this predestined path.

As she watched Liu Yuqing blossoming daily due to her relationship with Fu Yu, Liu Yunong began to envision her sister’s future married life.

Liu Yuqing was already 22, soon to be 23 after the New Year.

Dating, getting married, having kids, after two or three years, it would be time to consider marriage.

If Fu Yu remained faithful, he truly was an excellent match.
