Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 211: Chapter 40 The Sensational Succubus_2

His Majesty the King released so many slaves; the vast fields on either side of Keslow, belonging to the king, are all cultivated by these people.”

Hill sighed, ”His Majesty the King has given them half of the harvest from the land. If they still want to betray, then they are truly seeking their own death.

Besides, Charles can’t be that foolish, can he? How many times has the Noble Temple duped him?”

”Even His Majesty the King doesn’t want to predict what Charles will decide.” Fran spoke indifferently, ”As for Ramsden, it’ll depend on whether his mother can keep things steady.

The death of Edward is the real trouble for the Noble Temple.

It all depends on whether that woman hates the Noble Temple more or desires to be the Queen Mother more. If she doesn’t want to give up the glory of being the Queen Mother, she might just take action.”

”Ramsden isn’t young anymore!” Hill muttered, ”He is the leader after all! That’s a deity we’re talking about!”

”That’s just a pure mama’s boy.”

In this world, ’mama’s boy’ is an insult, meaning a man who only dares to hide behind his mother’s skirts, having no opinions of his own.

Such men usually have mothers whose profession is at a high level, while they themselves are very incompetent, lacking the courage to go out and do things on their own.

Some might not even know who their fathers are, not daring to defy their mothers’ wishes.

But Ramsden is a Sky Knight! His mother is just a Grand Knight.

Hill shook his head in dismay, surely this was a mess created by Edward.

Lacking ability yet full of self-importance, both inferior and arrogant, it’s understandable that such a man like Edward would raise a child like that.

For so many years, Edward never involved Ramsden in his connections; everyone just knew his son was a Grand Knight.

Wanting his child to fight for his honor, yet jealous of Ramsden’s superior abilities, perhaps even his frantic love affairs with Helen had an underlying desire to make life difficult for the mother and son. Otherwise, why would he keep silent when Edward’s wife attacked and killed Helen during their exile?

”How did Ramsden become a Grand Knight?” Hill asked curiously, ”Even as a God-blessed Sky Knight, he still has to meet the minimum standards, right?”

”His talents are not bad, and he’s not afraid of hard work,” Fran spoke calmly, ”It’s just that he’s unwilling to take responsibility for himself, leaving everything for his mother to decide. Otherwise, he could be a Sky Knight on his own without any divine favor.”

Hill absent-mindedly scratched his cheek, the Saral Family really produces all kinds of oddities.

The dividing screens inside the giant curtain were removed one by one until only the westernmost Border City remained.

The Witness himself was here; it seemed the players had already assessed that this was the most likely place for the decisive battle to take place.

Demons were still streaming ceaselessly towards Border City from Noah’s side, while the players seemed to have no reaction.

They probably accepted a garrison mission and couldn’t leave at will.

Hill eyed the screen intently, wanting to know if William was in the city.

However, in the picture, there was no existence other than the players themselves.

In the center of the city stood the Magic Tower, quiet and undisturbed, with no one entering or leaving.

”There’s no need to look anymore.” Fran chuckled, ”That’s a person who controls space; who knows where he is.”

Hill thought it felt like playing a spot-the-difference game; if one could actually find something different in the picture, the sense of achievement would be inconceivable.

As the Demon Army drew closer, the Witness’s camera no longer wandered about but zoomed in on the image of demons standing a thousand miles away.

”The image of these demons is really good, so uniquely ugly without any semblance. Even the lower ranks are so vivid,” the Witness said excitedly.

Fran glanced at the commentator, seemingly curious to know what kind of aesthetic standard allowed the Witness to say something like ’the image of the demons is good.’

Hill, on the other hand, was aware that the Witness was praising the game manufacturer for the modeling of the demons in this space-time game.

”Those that are very human-like are the least useful, the Original Demons; you don’t need to pay attention to them. The ones that end up skewered by the knights’ lances are usually these types. Those crawling pests on the ground are the Coward Demons, the kind that die as soon as an Ice Storm hits.

These creatures didn’t appear in the battle at the Black and White Path; probably because they are too low-level and that demon fortress didn’t need them.

But in our kind of cross-world war, these are the simplest cannon fodder, the kind where it doesn’t matter how many die.”

”Look at the numbers, if a large amount of demons almost at the Demigod Level were to come in, it’s no wonder the Lake Goddess and the Wolf God had to sacrifice themselves.”

”But for a newbie, it’s actually a pretty nice Experience Pack.”

”Even if they lack the eye-hand coordination, just swinging wildly can get them some hits.”

Suddenly, he tapped the camera behind him: ”Right rear! Quick, turn!”

As the camera panned there, a collective gasp arose from below.

Hill wasn’t surprised to see the presence of several Succubi.

Sharp horns, cloven hooves, long slender tails, a pair of small bat wings behind, holding whips, wearing bikini-like black leather outfits, the voluptuously beautiful Succubi, with their full figures, were glancing around, eliciting sighs of admiration from the Undead Tribe below.

”So this is the famous Succubus!” the Witness yelled out what many players were thinking.

”Aren’t there male ones? Why aren’t there any?” a few female players cursed loudly, ”Is this just to satisfy men? Women want to see too!”

”Male Succubi, that rarity, you want to see them, you’ll have to wait till the day the Abyss opens and go see for yourselves!” Snow Cloud Peak responded indifferently, unlike the others who weren’t ogling the tempting forms on the giant screen.

Fran originally wanted to ask Hill to cast a Purification Spell below, but found that the Undead ones were just enjoying the view for the sake of it.

And not because they were completely mindless from Charm.

List suddenly appeared: ”Those few downstairs, the Purification Array is a bit out of control.”

The Purification Array on the second floor, although not as powerful as the Forest Array, was still not facing the demons directly, and watching them through a screen meant the assault on their will was less than a third.

To have problems despite that, was it a case of old age not fading the heart?

Hill didn’t believe List would rush out like that just because of a few Spies.

He slowly went downstairs and saw several Old Mages, controlled by Puppets sent by List, struggling violently, wanting to jump down from the building and head south to find their beloved girls.

The Spies that still persisted watched the screen with different colors in their eyes, then looked at the Old Mages.

Hill sighed, summoned the Water Mist to block the sight of the Old Mages, and then released the Tide Dance Moon Welcoming.

After the clear and refreshing mist passed, the few Old Mages, now calmly, quietly fainted.

Seeing those Spies, their eyes dancing, hurriedly planning to wake up the Old Mages who had mysteriously passed out.

Hill spoke up to stop them directly: ”Gentlemen. Please mind your manners.”

”Ah! We just wanted to help out.”

List had already quickly commanded the Puppets to take these Old Mages back to their rooms.

The Spies sent off the Mages with exceptionally regretful looks.

”After such an incident, we dare not stay any longer,” one of them straightened their expression and said to Hill, ”We’ve been here so long, without accomplishing anything. It’s also embarrassing to bid farewell to Master Fran, so please pass on the message to Mr. Polanio. We hope next time something like this happens, we can be of some help.”

”Sure. Safe travels,” Hill couldn’t be bothered to waste words on these people, the sooner they took off, the better.

Unexpectedly, those very people who Hill had been blunt with stiffened for a few seconds only to then smile and say goodbye.

Hill stood by the window watching them fly into the sky, and a few minutes later, several Undead Mages quickly followed them.

Snow Cloud Peak waved happily at him from below: ”Mr. Hill, there aren’t any more people we need to worry about here, right?”

Thinking of those Old Mages, Hill still asked List to go downstairs, quietly telling Snow Cloud Peak that these few might be targeted by the Succubi.

”Hah? Already old-timers, and still so spirited!” Snow Cloud Peak muttered after hearing it.

Hill helplessly looked at this blabbermouthed Undead, pointed out a few people, and assigned them the task of surveillance.

Soon, laughter and a few sharp whistles were heard from downstairs.
