Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 787: The Shan

”Incoming!” Lena shouted.

All the summoners couldnʼt help but raise their weapons while the knights dropped their jaws. There was such a massive alien underneath the sea.

”What is going on?”

”What kind of monster is that?”

The alien was rushing toward them. It was running, but with the help of the tentacles on its back, the alien could actually ignore the waterʼs resistance quite a bit. As a result, its speed could become faster than Kunʼs.

Other aliens were also following him. However, the things that piqued Nathanʼs interest were actually the flying aliens.

”!!!” Nathan widened his eyes in shock. The flying aliens consisted mostly of insects. The insects had semi-circular, ridged wings covered with triangular scales. It had ten legs and three mouths.

”Is that the Shan?” Nathan squinted his eyes.

”The Shan?” Fenrir and the others frowned.

”Yeah. Annoying insects.” Nathan clenched his fists. ”Theyʼre insects who would torture slave races from other worlds for pleasure. When on other planets, they sought the most terribly haunted localities to view their horrors.

”If you are not careful, they can enter your brain and control you.” Nathan fell silent after saying that last statement.

He had never heard the case about aliens taking over a humanʼs brain, except for the Divine Hand. However, it wasnʼt the brain they took over, it was the body.

ʼNow that I think about it, if the aliens are coming at full force, thereʼs no way this world can resist.

ʼIn that case, why have the aliens not yet destroyed this world? Is it only to see our horrors? Or is there another reason?ʼ

Nathan couldnʼt help but arrive at one conclusion, which he had been suspicious about.

ʼNo, wait. The aliens are coming with the black cells, which do not originate from the myth itself. Does that mean the black cell is the real enemy?

ʼAre the aliens still resisting the black cell? Maybe on their home planet, they are also fighting their own kin to stop the black cell…

ʼBecause of it, theyʼre stopping the majority of the aliens from coming and destroying this world. For hundreds of years…ʼ

This possibility had a lot of flaws, but if this was true, Nathan might have to change his approach in the future.

ʼIf thatʼs the case, why would they spare this world? All I know is that one of their outer gods has been taken over. I donʼt know about the rest.

ʼWhy would they attack this world on this scale? If I were the aliens… what would I do if my world was invaded by that black cell and half of my population got controlled by it?ʼ

Nathan couldnʼt help but glance at the incoming aliens. ʼI will send weaker aliens first, not to destroy this world, but to help them get stronger. And with them, weʼll resist…ʼ

Nathan was terrified by that possibility. However, it was the most plausible one. What if the aliens actually wanted them to kill their own kin in order to train humanity? It might not be possible if they were normal humans, but there were summoners.

ʼWhat actually happened 500 years ago? What happened when the aliens first attacked this world? How did the first summoner appear? Was it… also the aliens that actually granted this power?ʼ

His heart sank. If this were the truth, the civilization would collapse. The heroes they thought would destroy the aliens were getting their power from the aliens; that fact would make them lose their trust.

Still, this was just a speculation.

ʼI have to learn more about this world, especially the beginning of the invasion. Who has that knowledge? Charlotte?ʼ Nathan frowned. ʼNo. It doesnʼt matter for now. Since the aliens are coming here, we should focus on the aliens first. I will just think about it once things have settled down.ʼ

Nathan hurriedly shouted, ”Duchess Lena.”

”!!!” Lena was confused, not knowing why Nathan suddenly called her.

Nathan pointed at the insects in the sky. ”The aliens from the water can be ignored to a certain extent. Do whatever you can to kill those freaking insects! They are insects that can control humansʼ brains!”

”What?” Lena was dumbfounded. She didnʼt know whether Nathanʼs information was correct or not. But if it was truly such a terrifying insect, they definitely had to prioritize it.

And she had never heard of an alien taking over oneʼs mind.

”Well, I might be an insane commander who trusts information that hasnʼt been verified, but this is the first time Iʼve seen that kind of insect.” Lena finally gave an order. ”Men. You heard him. I will stall the elite class alien. Deine, Sarah, Lok, you three focus on the aliens coming from below. The rest will focus on killing those flying aliens!”

”Yes!” They replied in unison.

Even Nathan had to go to the back. ”Nidhogg, Jinwu, focus your attack on those insects. Kill as many as possible. Fenrir, you will be our last line of defense. Any alien that is about to reach Kun will be handled by you. Anubis, you take care of the people as usual.”

”Oh!”

Nathan formed his Artillery, waiting for them to get closer.

”Itʼs coming!” Lena raised her sword and swung it down, releasing the sword attack toward the elite class alien.

The alien blocked her attack with its arm and continued onward. It extended the other hand to reach Kun, but Lenaʼs familiars worked together to stop this hand.

Fortunately, the alien had to use all its tentacles to move in the sea or it would have been more troublesome.

Meanwhile, Nathan released his Artillery, focusing on the flying aliens. The same applied to other summoners and familiars. Nidhogg and Jinwu burned all the flying aliens they encountered, even if it meant expanding a lot of their ena.

The knights could still release some arrows to suppress the aliens coming from the bottom.

They had to continue blocking the enemy like this until they reached the city if they wanted to survive. And Lena wondered if this was the right thing to do, considering the city might end up facing a catastrophe if she let these insects reach there.
