Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 737: Awkward

”Anyway, this will be your place. Unfortunately, we donʼt have the luxury of having a good room, even for a guest.” Faylon showed them into their room. It was a small room, but enough for two single beds.

”This is good enough. Thank you very much.” Nathan nodded.

”In that case, Iʼll take my leave here. There are a lot of maids around, so if you need anything, just call one of them or something.”

”Yes. Sorry for taking your precious time.”

With a nod, Faylon finally took his leave.

”Theyʼre surprisingly friendly,” Selena finally broke her silence. ”Weʼve gone to two bases. The soldiers in the first one glared at us until we found a way to find the hidden danger. Meanwhile, the second base belonged to the Liaystian kingdom, so they werenʼt necessarily that friendly.

”But when we entered this fort, the people didnʼt show any hostility.” Selena frowned. ”Is there something wrong with this fort?”

”Well…” Nathan walked to the only window in the room and pointed at a certain building. ”Itʼs probably because of that.”

”En?” Selena approached the window, wondering what Nathan was pointing at. It was a building not far from their accommodation. Although it was a bit hard, she could see people loitering around the area, bringing a woman in their arms. ”Prostitution?”

”Yes. Iʼve read it from somewhere. Sometimes, prostitution itself is able to lower the crime rate. In a high-stress area like this, people need to find a way to release their stress and that is probably one of them. If you impose good laws and hygiene, that might brighten the mood of the entire fort.”

Selena fell into deep thought. ”But it doesnʼt seem to be the only thing. There are also civilians here.”

”Well, you definitely need civilians. Even this place has maids that can take care of the soldiersʼ daily necessities. And even if the civilians canʼt fight, they can still help by bringing arrows to the wall, tending the wounded, or even boiling water. And because Iʼm not aware of the entire military system, I canʼt say for sure. They might have a good reward system that allows the soldiers to maintain their motivation,” Nathan explained.

”I see. So, how are we going to spend our time here?”

Nathan thought for a moment. ”Well, Iʼll probably visit the place where they care for the wounded. Helping these soldiers doesnʼt sound too bad. Besides, we can gain a bit of their trust and ask them various things.”

”Fair enough.”

”Letʼs put down our luggage first.”

”Yes.”

When they were about to put down their luggage, someone suddenly knocked on their door.

”Excuse me. Iʼm a maid called Sylvia. Vice Commander Faylon has told me to come to you.”

Nathan and Selena exchanged looks before Nathan opened the door, finding a young maiden waiting outside. She didnʼt look much older than them.

Sylvia politely bowed her head. ”My name is Sylvia. Vice Commander Faylon asked me to guide you around.”

”Oh!” Nathan nodded. Faylon actually left them here without telling them about other things or even the most important thing, which was food. So, he must have told a maid on the way to take care of them.

”Can you wait for a moment? Weʼre planning to go out but need to put down our luggage first.”

”Yes. I will wait outside.”

”No need to wait outside. While waiting, why donʼt you tell us about this fort? Maybe all the places like where weʼre supposed to eat and so on?” Selena asked.

”Oh! I understand.” Sylvia pondered for a moment. ”This fort has four districts. They are the civilian district in the west, the medical district in the north, the entertainment district in the east, and the soldier district in the south. Weʼre currently in the soldier district.

”Each building has a dinner hall where the soldiers usually eat. As long as youʼre not too late, the food should still be available.”

”Is this place attacked a lot?” Selena asked.

Sylvia tilted her head for a moment, recounting her experience. ”Yes. There is usually a small attack every few days, but lately there has been an increase.”

”Is it alright for you to show us around here? Iʼd like to check the entire fort. Also, is there a problem with summoning familiars in this fort?”

Sylvia shook her head. ”There arenʼt many restrictions in this place. Unless the familiars are used to harm others, theyʼre usually fine seeing familiars. Itʼs said that the Sword Saint knows everything, so even if they lie or try to frame people, they will get found out and punished severely by the Sword Saint. So, itʼs pretty much safe in this fort.”

”In that case, Anubis.”

”!!!” Sylvia was startled not because Nathan summoned a familiar but because the familiar was not humanoid. ”W-What is this?”

”My familiar.” Nathan had finally finished putting down his luggage and asked, ”Weʼre planning to tour around the fort today. Can you guide us around? Anubis is harmless. He is here to protect me. Besides, heʼs also able to use healing ability, so I might visit the medical district.”

”Is that so?” Sylvia looked at Anubis.

To her surprise, Anubis suddenly activated his ability, which made the pain in her body disappear. In fact, she felt a bit energized. ”This is…”

”I have healed the wound on your knees.” Anubis nodded. ”This way, you shouldnʼt feel too tired when guiding us around.”

”Knees…” Sylvia panicked and looked down, feeling too ashamed to say anything.

”Oi. Just heal her and donʼt be too specific.” Nathan interjected.

”What? I couldnʼt care less. Humans love to copulate, so Iʼm just helping her. It will be uncomfortable if sheʼs going around with those legs.” Anubis harrumphed. ”Besides, youʼre the one making her more embarrassed because you specifically point it out.”

”What?” Nathanʼs eyebrows twitched.

”Both of you should shut up.” Selenaʼs eyebrows twitched as she immediately turned Sylviaʼs body around and gently pushed them, saying, ”Donʼt listen to what they are saying and just go.”

Little did both of them know, Nathan and Anubis immediately smirked the moment they turned their heads around. After all, they made it awkward so that Nathan could summon Jinwu and send him to scout the fort without anyone seeing him.
