Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 620: Expectation

Nathan was standing next to the lake, his eyes fully closed. The ena inside his body was gathering in his right fist as he gradually raised it.

He had to discharge this amount of ena in one go. However, there was a massive problem.

When Nathan punched forward and tried to discharge it, the flow of ena became turbulent. As a result, he couldnʼt control the flow of the ena.

A part of it ended up colliding with another part, which resulted in them neutralizing each other and even creating a burst that destroyed the discharge process itself.

Boom!

”Kh.” Nathan gritted his teeth as the burst knocked him to the ground. It was quite painful to the point where he had a hard time stopping his hand from shaking.

”As expected…” Nathan muttered. It was already dark outside. He had been training for more than several hours but saw no result.

”When discharging a small amount of ena, it is easy because it has a lower chance to create a turbulent flow, which will end up messing the entire flow.

”However, when there is so much ena coming out all of a sudden, every ena is rushing outside, causing them to increase their speed and create a turbulent flow.

”In that case, the real problem is how to maintain the laminar flow of my ena.” Nathan furrowed his eyebrows.

”Even the breathing technique canʼt help me with this.” Nathan stabilized the flow of ena inside his body, but the problem would be controlling the ena outside it.

”My bullets have a different principle. Instead of discharging, theyʼre relying on the principle of connection. Each individual bullet is connected to my ena like thereʼs a small thread to each of them.

”Am I missing something?” Nathan furrowed his eyebrows. The challenge was for him to accomplish this without the help of his familiar.

Evelyn knew that his familiar was at a much higher level, even though she didnʼt personally witness their true strength.

While it was unfair to Nathan, there was one thing that Evelyn wanted to test.

”Youʼre not going to sleep?” Bella yawned, finding Evelyn still watching the lake from the open window.

Evelyn shook her head. ”You can go first.”

”What are you watching?” Bella took a peek outside, noticing Nathan still training. ”Hmm? Isnʼt that a discharging technique? Did you teach him?”

Evelyn shrugged. ”I just want to see his limit.”

”Limit? What kind of limit are you talking about? The discharging technique is a high-level technique due to the complex flow of ena.

”Itʼs not something he can use yet. Even Christopher and Sonia arenʼt at that level yet.

”Are you insane?” Bella frowned.

Evelyn shook her head. ”I can see that he has found a unique path for himself, and I know that his familiars arenʼt the ones responsible for that path.

”He has relied everything on himself, gradually creating his own fighting style. However, there is one problem.

”While itʼs true that his efforts are admirable, he has been focusing too much on his logic.

”From what I can see from his bullets, theyʼre going according to how he calculates their trajectories in his mind.

”As a result, there is an imbalance in his technique. Computation is responsible for the creation and trajectory, but you also need to train your senses.

”Forming an imagination in his mind and increasing oneʼs sensitivity.

”Right now, he might be able to form his imagination. However, his sensitivity is too low.

”With this training, I believe he will observe his ena much more closely, from the regeneration of his ena to its flow. Ultimately, his overall control will improve.”

Bella frowned. ”So, youʼre expecting him to fail?”

”Well, he has a high chance of failing. If I allow him to summon his familiars, he will probably ask them and accomplish the task, but he will be too focused on the task.

”On the other hand, if I do this, he will also focus on his process, search for the real answer, and improve much more.”

Bella sighed. ”Still, oneʼs improvement is step by step. If you want him to focus on improving his sensitivity, you should have said so from the beginning.”

Evelyn closed her eyes for a few seconds. ”I could do this when I was his age.”

”Thatʼs because youʼre a geni—!” Bella noticed something was off. ”Why are you suddenly comparing yourself to him? From the first time we met until now, Iʼve never seen you compare yourself to others, whether itʼs your peer or even the so-called strongest summoner. Donʼt tell me…”

Evelyn shook her head. ”Youʼre overthinking it. Thereʼs nothing you should be concerned about. Unlike the others, his real strength is how his mind works.

”Normally, when people encounter a problem, they will find the problems and solve them, right?

”However, he is different. I donʼt know how, but he already has a solution in his mind when he hasnʼt even found the problems. I wonder how he even has that much knowledge in his head.

”So, while the task is hard, he already has a solution. Itʼs just that he hasnʼt figured out which one is the actual solution.” Evelyn squinted her eyes. ”Sometimes, overthinking is your own downfall. Just like you.”

”What? I donʼt really overthink about anything.” Bellaʼs eyebrows twitched. ”Well, I might be overthinking one thing. And that is you. Look at my childhood friend. She is so fixated on something that she turns a blind eye to the rest.”

”Why are you even helping him this much? Why donʼt you go to him instead?” She sighed.

”Iʼm worried about you, my dear friend.” Bella sighed. ”Well, you do you. Iʼm not going to help him this time. Iʼm going to sleep and wake up early tomorrow. There are still a lot of documents I have to check after all. Good night.”

”Yeah. Good night, Bella. Have a nice dream.” Evelyn nodded before turning back to Nathan.

Bella walked away, but she couldnʼt help but glance back, noticing the corner of her lips curved up. She just shrugged before smiling as well. ”This is the first time she has such a high expectation on someone other than herself.”
