Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Rock Giant Scorpion and a Blue Treasure Chest

In the eyes of Yang Qingniu and the others, the Rock Giant Scorpion was larger than an ox, terrifying, and beyond their comprehension. It was no exaggeration to call it a monster.

But in Wang Yi’s eyes, it was just a wild monster. He knew its patrol and aggro ranges, so there was nothing to fear.

’With the Crossbow Machine Carriage, it wouldn’t be hard to kill this Rock Giant Scorpion, but it’d be a waste to just kill it. If I can capture and tame it, it’ll become another Grand General!’

As Wang Yi silently calculated, Pang Damao, Yang Qingniu, and the others retreated in a panic. Their scalps tingled, their steps were unsteady, and their hearts pounded.

Ordinary people’s legs would go weak at the sight of beasts like leopards or tigers, let alone a monster like the Rock Giant Scorpion that defied all understanding.

”Bunch of cowards, look how scared you are!”

Man Datou grumbled. He stared at the Rock Giant Scorpion with fiery eyes, clenching his fists, eager for a fight.

”Big Head, don’t be a fool! Get back here!”

Wang Yi quickly shouted to stop Man Datou, genuinely afraid the man would act recklessly. Given the Rock Giant Scorpion’s size, he didn’t think Man Datou stood a chance in a direct confrontation.

Among the others, Yang Qingniu was ultimately the bravest. He was the first to shake off his panic and shouted, ”Get more men! A few of us can’t handle this monster. Tell everyone to grab their tools and come here! We’ll take it down together.”

The group hastily retreated a good distance away. The Rock Giant Scorpion didn’t give chase. Once everyone was outside its aggro range, it slowly lowered itself to the ground, retracted its body, and once again became a giant, coarse-grained boulder.

Without careful observation, one would never notice that the rock was the scorpion’s camouflage.

’This camouflage technique is incredible!’

Seeing that the Rock Giant Scorpion had this ability made Wang Yi even more determined to capture it alive.

For a time after, the worldview of the Stone Village villagers was violently shaken.

After learning that monsters truly existed, they were both frightened and curious. They chattered noisily and even stopped working.

Finally, spurred on by Yang Qingniu, a group of people carrying clubs and ropes returned to the Chaotic Stone Slope.

When someone entered the Rock Giant Scorpion’s aggro range, the wild monster revealed itself once more.

The villagers’ eyes went wide. They huddled together, too nervous to speak.

”Everyone relax, it’s just a wild monster...”

Seeing that his men were in position, Wang Yi wasted no more time. He started the Crossbow Machine Carriage and opened fire on the Rock Giant Scorpion, which had just finished unfurling its body.

DING DING DING DING...

A dense volley of Flying Light Arrows rained down on the Rock Giant Scorpion’s body like streams of light, striking sparks.

The Rock Giant Scorpion cried out in pain, emitting a low hiss. It actually used its pincers to shield its head, lowered its body, and retreated with its head tucked in.

DING DING DING DING...

The Flying Light Arrows bombarded it relentlessly. Even the Rock Giant Scorpion’s hard Rock Armor couldn’t take it. After a few breaths, visible dents were smashed into it one after another. Fine, web-like cracks spread out, and viscous, dark-green blood began to ooze from the deepest fissures.

HISS...

The scorpion grew more and more frenzied. It shrieked incessantly, then abruptly stopped retreating. Its eight legs stomped the ground at high speed. With a BANG, it kicked up a cloud of gravel and dust. The giant scorpion leaped over three meters into the air, pouncing forward fiercely like a cheetah.

”Master, be careful!”

Man Datou cried out in alarm.

Wang Yi was startled but not flustered. He immediately adjusted the front of the carriage as if aiming a machine gun and strafed wildly with Flying Light Arrows to lay down suppressing fire.

The Rock Giant Scorpion was knocked back. It was covered in blood when it landed, but it remained savage, continuing to charge in Wang Yi’s direction. Each time, however, it was driven back by the ferocious Flying Light Arrows.

This went on for about two minutes. The Rock Giant Scorpion’s body was battered and broken. It finally stopped charging and instead started darting left and right like a cornered beast seeking cover. All the while, its tail remained raised high, like an unyielding banner.

The villagers of Stone Village watched from behind, their hearts trembling with fear.

After another minute, the Rock Giant Scorpion was covered in dents and cracks, its green blood splattered all over its Rock Armor and the ground.

Its ferocity was gone. Its body swayed, and it suddenly collapsed to the side. Its proud stinger, no longer held high, slammed heavily onto the ground with a THUD.

’This beast is really tough!’

Wang Yi’s gaze hardened. He immediately stopped his attack and shouted, ”Now’s the time! Everyone, go! Get the ropes, tie up the scorpion securely, and get it to the Beast Cage as fast as you can!”

By now, the villagers’ fear of the Rock Giant Scorpion had greatly diminished. Yang Qingniu let out a roar and led the charge forward, and the others followed one by one.

The scene quickly became noisy and chaotic. The crowd swarmed like bees, bustling about noisily. Some grabbed the pincers, others lifted the tail, and some threw on ropes...

Soon, a rhythmic work chant began. Man Datou and a dozen other villagers acted as the main force. Straining with all their might, they lifted the Rock Giant Scorpion and then began to slowly carry it, step by step, toward the territory.

The other dozens of villagers crowded around, craning their necks to get a look, pointing and chattering as if they were observing a Divine Beast.

’Good, good, good. I just hope this scorpion doesn’t die on the way!’

At that moment, however, Wang Yi leaped off the Crossbow Machine Carriage and strode toward the slope.

On the slope was a wild Treasure Chest that no one else could see.

The Treasure Chest glowed with blue light, looking even higher in quality.

Wang Yi quickly opened it, and three items appeared before him.

The first item was a Small Money Bag containing two Gold Coins.

The second item was a Chaos Blind Box. This Chaos Blind Box shone with a crystalline blue light. It was blue-quality, with a 60% chance of yielding a green item and a 40% chance of a blue item.

The third item was a fist-sized golden stone called a [Chaos Crystal Stone].

[Chaos Crystal Stone: Intermediate, a special item for Chaos Lords. Can be used to absorb 5,000 points of Chaos Energy.]

’An item to replenish Chaos Energy...’

Wang Yi immediately used the [Chaos Crystal Stone], and 5,000 points of Chaos Energy were credited to his account.

As for the Chaos Blind Box, he opened it right away.

’Three blues and five greens, not bad! What kind of pill is a Body-Bursting Pill? It’s not a pill that makes your body explode and die after taking it, is it...?’

Wang Yi’s eyes narrowed. To be cautious, he didn’t choose the blue, Enhance +8 Body-Bursting Pill. Instead, he chose the [Construction Drawings for an Armory].
