Starting Cultivation During a Trip

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Redeeming Lost Souls, the First Killing Art

Daoist Techniques, with the Celestial Venerable Gods or the Ancestral Master of one’s lineage as the Dharma Master, once practiced and executed, reveal illusionary outer scenery that appears both real and unreal, true and false, forming the likeness of Ghost Gods, Evil Realm Spirit Realm, Immortal and Buddhist Spiritual Artifact, among others. Especially in Primordial Spirit Battle, this outer scenery flourishes like flowers, ineffably exquisite.

At this moment, Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit summoned the ”Lotus Platform,” which manifestly follows the technique of the Taiyi Celestial Venerable of Salvation as its Dharma Master.

In the Daoist mythology, Emperor Qinghua of the East Pole, also known as Taiyi Celestial Venerable of Salvation, is accompanied by the Nine-headed Divine Lion that Zhang Fan cultivated with the Lion Seal.

Legend has it that the Taiyi Celestial Venerable of Salvation’s incarnations are as numerous as grains of sand, responding to calls as echoed. When humans face danger, simply chanting the Venerable’s holy name results in the Venerable responding to the call and arriving to rescue. Particularly in the Daoist life-saving rituals, the Venerable is invariably invited to bestow blessings due to the Venerable’s extensive and ancient vow to save all unfortunate souls cast into Hell.

For this reason, inviting the Taiyi Celestial Venerable of Salvation’s technique can redeem all lost souls and specters.

”Taiyi Profound Cultivation, Life-saving Skill... this is the true lineage of the Profound Sect, who exactly are you?” Gu Yuming sternly questioned.

The Taiyin Technique, Life-saving Skill, is not something anyone can casually practice and comprehend, and certainly not something you can just search online for details and produce items from.

To master this technique, one must receive secret instruction, untransmitted to outsiders, achievements not discussed outside the sanctuary, witnessing the Dharma Aspect of the Taiyi Celestial Venerable of Salvation and marveling at the profound mystery within, thus enabling the summoning of the nine-petaled Lotus Platform.

”Taiyi Life-saving Skill? This lineage could only have been transmitted from Dongyue...”

”Amongst the famous Daoist mountains, some may explore it, but clearly this technique is truly transmitted.”

”How peculiar! Redeeming ten thousand ghosts... when did such a master arrive in Yujing City?”

At this time, the disturbance above the old town grows louder, provoking many hidden hermit profound cultivators in Yujing City to take notice, sparking waves of surprise and doubt.

Rumble...

Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit sat on the Lotus Platform, and suddenly the whole place illuminated, brilliantly radiant, despite the myriad ghosts surging like a wild tide, none dared to approach, wails of fear suddenly arose, accompanied by mysterious chanting:

Above the pristine heavens basks in light, now I ascend the Lion Throne.

I, Zhenren, preach the Dharma, fairy flowers covering the ground, Golden Lotus descending.

All life and realms listen to the proclamation, souls convene at the compassionate ferry.

...

The chanting resounds in the ears of ordinary people, inaudible and silent, yet in the ears of cultivators, it’s grand and mighty, mesmerizing, instantly transforming the dancing spectral figures into illusions, seemingly ready to transcend under this technique, to embrace the ultimate bliss.

”Taiyi Celestial Venerable descending to Purple Court, Nine Netherworlds’ night illuminates. Thousands of sins dispelled by chanting the Venerable’s name, ten thousand faults erased by a volume of scripture...”

The He Family Manor, a deep magnetic voice quietly emanates, tinged with greed: ”Indeed, it’s Taiyi Life-saving Skill, the bane of worldly ghosts...”

”This person received the true transmission, it seems they must be quite a delicacy.”

As the words settled, He Fei by the window raised his brow, his pupils flashing with peculiar brilliance, looking towards the corner, he couldn’t help but say: ”Does this mean the one from the Yin Mountain Sect is doomed!?”

Primordial Spirit Battle, exceedingly perilous, likened to motorcycle racing, where others are iron-clad flesh, but they are flesh-clad iron, a slight misstep leads to death and end of the path.

”That may not be...”

At that moment, the magnetic voice shifted direction, hauntingly said: ”That one must have noticed by now...”

”You’re saying there could be a change?” He Fei’s gaze hardened, unable to resist looking towards the vast sky, at the gathering dark clouds.

Rumble...

Under the night sky, Zhang Fan sat atop the nine-colored Lotus Platform, Yin Qi billowed around, luminous treasures clearly visible, such a combination of good and evil, appearing extremely eerie.

From afar, Gu Yuming’s Primordial Spirit fluctuated, suddenly he made a gesture, ghost shadows surged through the sky, all gathering towards his palm.

”Ten thousand ghosts and souls heed my command, henceforth transform into the Soul Summoning Mirror!”

As his words fell, countless ghost shadows seemed to be caught in a vortex, forming an Ancient Rustic Bronze Mirror in Gu Yuming’s hand, manifesting as fog and mist, like a forest of white bones, the sound of ghostly wails emanating from the mirror.

”Break!”

Gu Yuming shouted fiercely, operating the Ten Thousand Ghosts Refining Form Technique, wielding the eerie Soul Summoning Mirror, a sudden burst of green light like a long rainbow breaking the sky, directing towards Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit.

Bam...

In an instant, the aura surrounding Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit shattered, the nine-colored Lotus Platform beneath him abruptly dissipated, vanishing without trace.

”Hahaha, your Primordial Spirit indeed has issues, possessing the proper techniques yet unable to be seamless and free-flowing, lacking in Dao Practice, nearly deceived me.” Gu Yuming sneered coldly.

The genuine Taiyi Life-saving Skill, once mastered, merely chanting the Venerable’s name could redeem souls, it’s impossible for someone like Zhang Fan to summon the nine-colored Lotus Platform, with such grandiosity, yet not a single ghost shadow dispersed...

Such a paper tiger almost fooled Gu Yuming.

At this moment, he also noticed that the Primordial Spirit before him had significant issues, seemingly with only sporadic instinct, perhaps not even complete.

”He should be a youth, just uncertain which mountain sect refined him, so unaware of order.”

”Primordial Spirit Battle is no child’s play; this youngster is likely to suffer.”

”Survival is already a blessing of the Ancestral Master!”

In Yujing City, hidden hermit profound cultivators couldn’t help but sigh deeply, none expected this battle would take such a dramatic turn, appearing evenly matched but fundamentally not on the same level.

There’s no other reason, Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit indeed was exceedingly misleading.

”Let me see, what kind of creature are you exactly.” Gu Yuming sneered, made a gesture to commandeer the Soul Summoning Mirror, aiming it at Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit.

”Celestial Pig Celestial Pig, Nine Elements Evil Child!”

...

At this moment, a soft voice echoed, hauntingly reverberated under the vast night sky, and then, Yin Qi surrounding Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit suddenly quaked, surging like River Sea waves, enigmatic like rising winds and gathering clouds...

”This is...”

Gu Yuming’s Primordial Spirit trembled fiercely, eyes widened as if capturing something, deep shock surged in his eyes, more astonishing than seeing the nine-colored Lotus Platform or the Life-saving Skill.

The cloudy sky extended, Yin Qi turned chilling, a dim gray halo flickered, this is the Taiyin Forms Evil Aspect.

Forms Evil implies ominous signs, commanding slaughter, perilous for all beings.

In Daoist Techniques, any technique forming evil indicates a path of extreme violence.

”This is impossible...”

Gu Yuming’s expression turned ice-cold, instinctively shaking his head, finally understanding why this Primordial Spirit before him could collect and refine Yin Qi, gathering the aura from all directions.

”Eighty years ago, the great tribulation of Daoist sects, wasn’t this lineage already annihilated?”

”Among countless transmissions of Daoist Techniques, the North Celestial Profound Emperor is the foremost killer!”

”This is... the supreme offensive Great Skill of Daoist Techniques!”

”Northern Emperor Technique!?”

At this moment, a deep and solemn expression finally appeared on Gu Yuming’s face.
