Starting Cultivation During a Trip

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Primordial Spirit Battle, Celestial Venerable of Salvation

Midnight.

Above the old town of Yujing City, dark clouds gathered, deep and intense, accompanied by howling winds, obscuring the once bright and clear moon.

”Why did the weather suddenly change? Didn’t the weather forecast say no rain for the next few days?”

”If the weather forecast were accurate, I’d have a stroke tomorrow! Go to sleep!”

”Can’t you do it outside? My husband can tell.”

In the dead of night, only a few houses’ lights remained on. Yet, to these ordinary people, all they could perceive was the sudden change in weather and the gathering of dark clouds, completely unaware...

Beneath those clouds, a silhouette sat cross-legged, as if in meditation, a halo shimmering around, blurred and ethereal...

Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit seemed to have entered a mystical realm. He formed seals with his hands, but not the Lion Seal. Yin Qi surged from all directions, enveloping him as if in a boiling mist.

”Gather Yin Qi and move the four corners...”

”What wicked being dares to perform such a Reversing Technique!?”

Just then, a sharp voice shouted from the sky. Gu Yuming’s Primordial Spirit, like a ball of light, floated down toward the scene.

He looked at the Primordial Spirit of Zhang Fan, shrouded in boundless Yin Qi, and instantly displayed a look of shock.

The Yin Collection and Refining Skill is rarely seen, especially in the Profound Sect and Daoist renowned mountains, which specialize in Pure Yang techniques.

Looking across Yujing City, in this path, none could rival his Yin Mountain Sect.

Yet, the scene before him made Gu Yuming’s heart pound in fear. The convergence of Yin Qi here disrupted the balance of yin and yang, making the dark clouds surge and forming a celestial phenomenon.

This sight made him hesitant to recklessly approach.

”How dare you disrespect me!?” Gu Yuming’s brows furrowed, a sharpness flickering in his bright eyes.

”Soul Summoning Guide!”

At this moment, he stepped on the Celestial Spirit, formed seals with his hands, muttering mantras, as a gleaming light like a rope flew from his waist, reaching toward Zhang Fan.

This was a skill of the Yin Mountain Sect, known as the Soul Summoning Guide.

It is known that when the Primordial Spirit emerges, the body provides no support, becoming its greatest vulnerability.

The Soul Summoning Guide forces the Primordial Spirit back to the body, allowing the caster to locate it.

”I want to see what divine being you are, daring to cultivate such a technique in Yujing City?” Gu Yuming sneered inwardly.

Buzz...

At this moment, the rope-like light wrapped around Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit, yet it was like a stone sinking into the sea, silently dispersing.

”It’s useless? His Primordial Spirit isn’t bound by his body!?”

Gu Yuming stared at the scene before him, initially stunned, then displaying a curious expression.

The body is like a nest, the Primordial Spirit a bird resting within, inseparable unless one achieves the Pure Yang Wuji Realm. Otherwise, leaving the body would make the Primordial Spirit a homeless ghost, eventually scattered into nothingness.

”Is there something wrong with his Primordial Spirit!?” Gu Yuming’s gaze turned solemn, deepening with seriousness.

Such a Primordial Spirit, he had never seen, nor even heard of from the secret transmissions of the Yin Mountain Sect’s ancestral masters.

”Good! Good! Good!”

Gu Yuming exclaimed thrice, as a gleam burst from his eyes.

”If I don’t make you reveal your true self today, my thirty years of Yin Mountain Technique are in vain.”

”Ten Thousand Ghosts Refining Form Technique!”

As he finished speaking, Gu Yuming slapped his forehead, opened his mouth wide, and a gust of Yin wind rushed forth. Countless ghostly shadows leaped out, disheveled, emitting a bluish glow like a miasma, grievances waving like flags, shadows following shadows, revealing skeletal form and graves scattered.

The Primordial Spirit Battle is even more intricate than wearing a physical body. Once a skill is formed, it might reveal ghostly apparitions, fearsome realms, divine magical artifacts... if real, it’s an illusion; if illusionary, it’s real, changing in an instant, appearing and disappearing in a moment, with the mysterious Void Generating Profound Being.

The Ten Thousand Ghosts Refining Form Technique was a skill meticulously cultivated by Gu Yuming over the years, using collected Yin Qi and souls of the dead.

Once this technique is formed, the Primordial Spirit will encounter a thousand ghosts, Yin Evil like a disaster arriving, possibly reducing one’s Dao Practice and shattering Pure True Yang.

”The Yin Mountain Sect’s Ten Thousand Ghosts Refining Form Technique!?”

At this moment, even the experts of the He Family in the Imperial Domain Dao sensed this unusual occurrence. The gathered dark clouds contained not only converging Yin Qi but also cries of ghosts resonating, grievances forming, shaking the celestial phenomena.

At this moment, if the Primordial Spirit were to activate, it would summon endless ghostly shadows, covering the sky, swallowing the dark clouds.

”It’s truly a member of the Yin Mountain Sect, have they gone mad? Daring to be so blatant in Yujing City?”

Within the He Family Manor, even He Fei could vaguely perceive the swarming ghostly shadows covering the heavens, which was why disbelief was displayed on his face.

In the current era, with the red flag fluttering and technological advancements, even cultivators adhere to rules. A dragon must coil, a tiger must lie low.

One may practice the Longevity Technique, but mustn’t disrupt ordinary lives. This blatant collection of Yin Qi from all directions to refine the Ten Thousand Ghosts is sheer madness.

”Ten Thousand Ghosts Refining Form Technique... Tsk tsk, quite bold... it seems Maoshan Taoists must descend the mountain.” In the corner, a low, magnetic voice sounded again.

Jiangnan Province, the realm of Maoshan, being one of the Ten Great Daoist Mountains, those Daoists couldn’t possibly stand by.

”The expert from Yin Mountain Sect is engaging in Magical Combat!?” He Fei, somewhat uncertain, asked.

His cultivation wasn’t profound, unable to perceive many things from such a distance.

”Primordial Spirit Battle, extremely dangerous. The Yin Mountain Sect’s Ten Thousand Ghosts Refining Form Technique is no ordinary matter. Whether that person can withstand, I don’t know,” the low, magnetic voice quietly echoed, clearly having more confidence in the Yin Mountain Sect expert.

Rumble...

Under the old town’s sky, dark clouds churned violently, ghostly wails surged like a tidal wave, charging toward Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit.

Buzz...

At this moment, Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit moved, forming seals with his hands, holding Nine Axis One, sending forth a roaring Lion.

”Lion Seal!?”

Seeing this, Gu Yuming couldn’t help but laugh, considering such a commonly seen Daoist Seal as merely foundational. If his Ten Thousand Ghosts Refining Form Technique were broken by this small trick, he’d truly become a laughingstock.

Rumble...

At that moment, endless ghostly shadows coalesced, issuing piercing wails and cries, their voices holding malevolent resentment, even freezing the surrounding air.

The sound of ghostly cries, although inaudible to the ordinary person, prolonged exposure could cause physical discomfort, and a weak flame might even lead to illness.

This is why cultivators, when engaging in Magical Combat, must stay away from crowds. Though invisible to ordinary people, the impact is everlasting.

Buzz...

The ghostly cries instantly overpowered the Lion’s roar, ten thousand ghosts surged fiercely, tearing through the intense Yin Qi surrounding Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit, aiming to seize it.

”Reveal!”

At this moment, a gentle yet resonant voice sounded. Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit formed seals once more, no longer the Lion Seal, and immediately, a high platform throne appeared before him.

”What’s this...”

Seeing the high platform throne, Gu Yuming’s expression drastically changed.

What a magnificent Dharma King’s Throne, majestic and imposing, with nine distinct lotus branches and treasure light gemmed all over.

Instantly, beneath the heavens, indistinct chanting and singing sounded, swirling around the high platform throne, rising gracefully, in an endless cycle of solemnity:

Floating mystical air lingers, praised by all feathered mages for the marvelous altar.

In the Seven Treasures Forest, on the Seven Treasures Platform, the Treasure Trees and Flowers bloom.

For the deceased to ascend to the Immortal Realm, invite the master onto the Dharma King’s Platform.

Sacred chanting echoed, and as it completed, Zhang Fan’s Primordial Spirit stepped forth, sitting atop the high platform. Simultaneously, he formed seals with his hands, reciting:

This seat, this seat, an extraordinary seat, once sat upon by the Celestial Venerable of Salvation.

Now, teaching the technique to transcend life and death, liberating all hells.

The Taiyi Celestial Venerable sits on the Lotus Platform, and the Ten Hall Yama lines on both sides.

The Judge unfolds the Book of Life and Death, summoning lost souls for deliverance.

”This Daoist Skill is...” Gu Yuming’s voice rang out in disbelief.

Emperor Qinghua of the East Pole, Taiyi Celestial Venerable of Salvation!!?
