Slime Evolution

Chapter 71: 71 - Level 04!

[Name: Halon

Race: Slime (Mythical)

Class: Devourer (Mythical)

Level: 04

Experience: 11 / 800

Mana: 04 / 26.47]

As his level rose, a refreshing and relaxing feeling of comfort washed over him.

It was as if every fiber of his biomass was being purified and restructured on a molecular level, even more intense than the feeling he had when he rose to Level 03 a few days ago.

The weight of fatigue and stress from combat was washed away by a wave of warm euphoria emanating from his Slime Core, expanding to the farthest reaches of his membrane.

From this feeling, the most impactful change came from within him... with the level up, his base digestion speed increased by 3 more units!

Although he had previously shown a digestion speed of over 53 Biomass per hour, this high number came from the countless evolutions he had accumulated up to that point. His base digestion was still only at 11.52 Bio/h.

With the increase of 3 units, his base digestion speed rose to an incredible 14.52 Bio/h, which, added to all the effects of his evolutions, reached an incredible mark of 73.61 Bio/h!

’Wow, I’m almost reaching 100 biomass per hour!!’ He thought euphorically!

His digestion took a qualitative leap, to the point that at his current level, Lohan could easily consume several Mana Stones in a day, thus creating a potentially infinite farm of skills!

With such a change, Lohan felt that he no longer needed to wait to rest and began digesting the snake.

The snake’s organic matter, which had previously offered resistance, now seemed to disintegrate much faster at the touch of his jelly, converting into pure energy that filled his biomass reservoirs at a dizzying speed.

”At this rate, I need to evolve my biomass storage, both in density and size, so as not to overload myself with excess biomass.”

Simultaneously, his control over his own form became slightly more fluid.

The feeling of being a heavy, gelatinous body grew weaker, as if his biomass had become lighter and more malleable again.

Unfortunately, there was no way to quantify this feeling, but at this level, Lohan felt that with some investment of biomass, he could make two more pairs of hands and control them all simultaneously.

Extremely satisfied, he looked at Lisa and noticed a reddish-white glow running through her body. ”Have you already reached Level 05?!” he asked in surprise.

Lisa awoke from her stupor, also euphoric about the changes she had received, just like Lohan, and looked at the slime in a much better mood.

”Not to mention that I spend more time online than you do. The time you spend digesting biomass alone, I spend hunting monsters nonstop, and when you hunt, I’m with you too, so it’s only natural.” She said with a proud voice, but very satisfied with the changes she had received.

”Hmm, it seems that your gains have also been very good.” Lohan noted after analyzing her reaction, but he didn’t dwell on it too much.

Now that he could digest more than 1 Biomass per minute, Lohan only needed a few minutes to recover enough to keep [Selective Viscosity] active during the trip, and then he began to collect all the Digestive Acid he could from the snake before other monsters were attracted by the noise and smell of the place.

The first thing he did was stick to the holes in the snake’s belly and suck up as much Acid as he could, causing his body to swell slightly like a balloon.

Realizing that his current size would not be enough, Lohan began to digest the monster’s head again to recover biomass and purchased an upgrade.

[Mass Expansion Lv 8 → Lv 9] - 21.36 Biomass

With this upgrade, Lohan’s size increased from 34 centimeters in diameter to 37!

This increase may seem small, increasing his total diameter by only 3 centimeters, but this was not just a linear increase, but a total increase in his volume!

For a spherical shape like his, increasing the diameter by 3 centimeters is the same as increasing the total volume by 30%!

But Lohan didn’t stop digesting the snake’s head; he still wanted to test if it was possible to get another skill from this monster.

And he wasn’t disappointed!

[New Digested Matter — Obsidian Scales]

[Consumes biomass to coat the outer membrane with rigid, black hexagonal scales.

[Conflict with: Reinforced Exoskeleton]

[Obsidian Scales and Reinforced Exoskeleton have similar characteristics, attempting fusion...]

[...]

Looking at that screen, Lohan was shocked.

The last time there were conflicts between the Skills he absorbed, the level of one of the skills was too low for him to fuse it, but from the delay the System was showing in processing the response, this time it seemed possible!

Eagerly, Lohan continued to digest the snake’s head as a snack and stared at the floating blue screen in front of him.

[Fusion successful, the two Matters have been fused!]

[New Evolution — Obsidian Exoskeleton Lv 1]

[Consumes Biomass to generate a rigid, black Obsidian Exoskeleton.]

The description was very simple, not specifying what the skill had changed other than its color and name, so Lohan prepared to use it.

But when he formed a small piece of the black exoskeleton around himself, the biomass he had accumulated was quickly drained, causing him to urgently cancel this test.

’Damn... how many times has the cost of this skill gone up?! But if the cost has gone up, the resistance must have gone up accordingly, right?!’ He thought excitedly.

With 30% more total volume, Lohan finally had enough space to store all of the snake’s Digestive Acid inside himself.

But this increase also made his body heavier and more uncoordinated, which worried Lisa, who watched in horror.

Lisa was watching Halon with a mixture of fascination and pure terror.

Before her, the Slime not only grew as it absorbed the Acid... it deformed grotesquely, swelling like a heavy, translucent balloon as it sucked it up nonstop.

’I’m going to have to carry him to Thalendor...’ She was frightened.
