Serpent Ancestor

Executing the most dangerous mission, life and death are irrelevant!

Although the specifics are unknown, it is definitely at a black level, posing a life-threatening danger!

Those standing here are no older than twenty, all young Chosen ones, inevitably feeling nervous, with a few even trembling.

Xu Hei felt nothing. The dangers he had faced in his life were more than many centenarian old demons.

The only thing that puzzled him was that Elder Tiger Whale mentioned there were thirty-four newcomers, but he clearly saw only thirty-three?

A green-haired turtle spoke up, ”Senior, I’m just a turtle, maybe... not suitable for this kind of mission.”

”Then I might have to be racist. Elder Green Turtle, is this the style of your turtle lineage?” Elder Tiger Whale mocked.

”Shut up!” Elder Green Turtle snapped in anger and shame.

The green-haired turtle dared not make another sound.

Elder Tiger Whale glanced over the crowd of beasts and smiled, ”If you’re not satisfied, you can apply to your elders. As long as they don’t release you, I promise not to force you.”The demonic beasts looked toward their respective elders, seeing no reaction from them, they understood.

This was a decision jointly discussed by the six Grand Elders.

Though the reason was unknown, it was clear they could only comply unless they left the Penglai Sea and never returned.

A Qingluan bird asked, ”I want to know, how long will this dangerous mission last?”

”Just one year. At the end of next year’s conference, you can return to your clans,” Elder Tiger Whale replied.

The demonic beasts finally breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as it’s just one year, and as newcomers, they probably wouldn’t be sent to their deaths. As long as they endure this year, everything will be fine afterward.

”Everyone, this is a special training for you! Although some of you may die or be seriously injured, as long as you survive, you will make rapid progress, even surpassing your senior brothers and sisters,” the Narwhal said solemnly.

These words were not empty. Surviving life and death situations would lead to a transformation in both strength and intellect!

Newcomers joining the Penglai Sea must have exceptional talent. But some are nurtured in a greenhouse from birth, lacking a sense of crisis, and there are various connections and so on.

These are the ones most in need of special training!

Elder Tiger Whale said, ”Enough talk, follow me!”

He flew toward the horizon.

The other demonic beasts followed suit.

...

The Shark lineage is located at the very edge of the Penglai Sea, close to the exit, convenient for hunting trips.

There aren’t many islands here, just a few scattered ones, inhabited by the land-dwelling demonic beasts of the Shark lineage.

The most conspicuous feature here is a tall tower, piercing the clouds from the seabed, entirely black as ink, like a pillar holding up the sky, exuding a strong sense of oppression. ℞ἈＮοʙЁṥ

This tower, known as the Prison Tower, is a famous sight in the Penglai Sea.

The Prison Tower is used to imprison captives. The prisoners and demons captured by the Shark lineage are all held within the Prison Tower.

The origin of the Prison Tower is untraceable, existing since ancient times, solid and impregnable.

Beneath this sea area, there’s an exposed spiritual vein, visible on the seabed, with spirit stones embedded in it, though no one dares to collect them.

It’s said that this spiritual vein maintains the formation of the Prison Tower and supplies the sharks with their daily absorption.

Xu Hei spread his divine sense, seeing many sharks moving underwater, coming and going without a trace, making it difficult to detect their presence.

Even during routine cultivation, they hide themselves well.

In just an instant, Xu Hei discerned the extraordinary nature of this lineage.

At this moment, Elder Tiger Whale stopped in mid-air and took out thirty-four tokens, saying, ”Our Shark lineage has a total of thirteen hunting squads. Now, you will draw lots to decide which squad to join.”

He placed the tokens in the air, saying, ”Choose whichever you like, you have three breaths to decide.”

Xu Hei and Xu Bai exchanged a glance, needing no communication, and immediately grabbed a token from a distance, which landed in front of them.

The front of the token displayed the number ”3.”

Squad Three.

The other demonic beasts also took action, grabbing a token each.

Boqi and Bopu both got number five, while the green tea bird Yue Ying got number one.

”With this token, you can freely enter and exit the Shark lineage, but remember, do not approach the Prison Tower, do not dig the spiritual vein, and do not trespass on other squads’ territories. Otherwise, if you get killed, don’t blame me for not warning you,” Elder Tiger Whale said coldly.

”...” All the demonic beasts nodded silently.

”Disperse now, report to your respective squads. I hope most of you will survive until the end of the year,” Elder Tiger Whale said indifferently.

With that, he flashed and disappeared, destination unknown.

After a moment’s pause, the demonic beasts quickly dispersed.

Yue Ying glanced at Xu Hei and Xu Bai, a trace of barely noticeable disdain in her eyes, and quickly left.

Xu Hei and Xu Bai found their direction and headed straight for Squad Three, which was an underwater palace.

”Are you two also in Squad Three?”

A clear voice came from behind, belonging to a bright green bird, its feathers shining like leaves.

She held a token in her wing, with the number ”3” on it.

”That’s right,” Xu Hei nodded.

”I’m Qingluan, nice to meet you. Let’s travel together,” Qingluan said with a smile.

”Qingluan...”

Xu Hei had heard of this name, said to be a rare genius.

”Sure, let’s go together,” Xu Bai said with a smile.

Seeing Xu Bai had accepted, Xu Hei said no more and nodded.

Two snakes and a bird dove into the water, heading straight for the distant underwater palace.

”Qingluan, you chose number three on purpose, didn’t you?” Xu Hei suddenly asked.

”Oh? You noticed?” Qingluan wasn’t surprised, nodding with a smile.

”Why?” Xu Hei asked directly.

Having spent years killing outside, he naturally had a sense of vigilance for such actions.

”Because you two are strong, it feels safer.”

Qingluan’s answer was simple and straightforward.

”...” Xu Hei was silent.

”Not just me, many demonic beasts wanted that number three token, but I was quick, and no one could snatch it from me,” Qingluan said with a smile.

This answer was reasonable, and Xu Hei nodded, asking no further.

Before long, they arrived at the entrance of the underwater palace.

A cold voice came from below, ”You must be the newcomers, come in.”

”Yes!” Xu Hei bowed to the water below and flew into the palace gates.

Qingluan then noticed a stingray lurking in the sand below, its body blending perfectly with the seabed, unnoticed until now.

”What keen observation, it seems I’ve chosen well!” Qingluan thought with delight.
