Serpent Ancestor

In the center of the Penglai Sea, there is a floating island, grand and majestic, reaching up to the sky and rooted in the sea below. A palace is built upon this island, marking the core of the Penglai Sea.

Beneath the palace lies a massive formation, its intricate patterns unmatched in the world. This formation is known as the Four Seas and Eight Desolations Formation.

It is said that the top elders of the sea can use this formation to observe every corner of the Penglai Sea, monitoring all outsiders.

At this moment, inside the palace, a Water Kylin sat on the ground, laughing, ”Old Master, what do you think of this year’s newcomers?”

The Water Kylin was entirely blue, with a head like a lion and a tail like a dragon’s. Its scales resembled ocean waves, and with each breath, the sound of the sea’s waves could be heard.

Beside this beast sat an elder in a scholar’s robe, ordinary in appearance, the same Old Master who had saved Bai Qiushui that day.

”Not bad, this generation has produced many once-in-a-century Chosen, a true golden generation,” the Old Master said calmly.

”Heh, I think so too. Throughout history, before every catastrophe, there always appears a golden age, as if predestined,” the Water Kylin chuckled.

”A golden age...” The Old Master fell into reminiscence.

Back then, during the great calamity, when the demon disaster descended, bringing devastation, perhaps to balance that disaster, the Penglai Sea experienced a rare golden age.Countless Chosen rose, countless extraordinary talents were born, and even someone as strong as the Old Master could only be considered mediocre in that generation.

However, most of those extraordinary talents perished, a few were severely injured and went into hiding, and those who survived were relatively mediocre.

Recalling those who had fallen, the Old Master let out a long sigh.

Those Chosen, those names that dominated a generation, if they hadn’t died, they might have reached Divine Transformation by now, or even stronger.

”Do you think this generation will repeat the same mistakes?” the Water Kylin asked.

The Old Master shook his head, ”At least not before I die.”

…………

Penglai Sea, Task Island.

Today, a total of thirty-three figures arrived here, each standing on the island.

Xu Hei stood quietly at the edge, waiting silently, with Xu Bai beside him.

Before long, six figures approached swiftly from afar, landing on the island. They were the elders of the six major demon clans.

Elder Green Turtle, Elder Tiger Whale, Elder Yunhe, Elder Jin, Narwhal, and Nine-Eyed Toad.

Elder Yunhe stepped forward and said loudly, ”After three months of trials, you have all completed at least one task, and no one was eliminated. I am very pleased. This is very rare compared to the past.”

Xu Hei glanced at Yue Ying in surprise; this bird had also completed a task, truly impressive.

Yue Ying also looked over at Xu Hei, surprisingly nodding with a smile, but when she saw Xu Bai’s gaze, she shrank back and withdrew her eyes.

”You only know that there are six major demon clans in the Penglai Sea, but do you know what these six clans do?” Elder Yunhe asked with a smile.

The demonic beasts looked at each other, puzzled.

”Enough with the chatter, let me explain.”

At this moment, Elder Tiger Whale flew forward impatiently, ”You should know that a normal sect should have various departments like law enforcement, logistics, diplomacy, finance, etc., each performing its duties to maintain the sect’s order. Our Penglai Sea is the same.” ȓ𝔞𝐍ȫВÊŞ

”For example, Elder Yunhe’s Tianpeng lineage specializes in alchemy, talismans, and formations, responsible for logistics and providing material support.”

”And my Giant Shark lineage is responsible for hunting, tracking down enemies, and gathering intelligence on dangerous missions.”

Elder Tiger Whale explained slowly.

The Giant Shark lineage specializes in hunting, and their inherited immortal spells are attack-based, extremely powerful, arranged according to their racial traits.

”And Elder Green Turtle, their turtle lineage, is slow and can only be responsible for guarding the sea, patrolling, and defense work.”

Elder Tiger Whale added, glancing at Elder Green Turtle with disdain in his tone.

”What do you mean, adding personal bias? Are you belittling my clan?” Elder Green Turtle said angrily.

”I’m just stating a fact. If you disagree, you can refute it,” Elder Tiger Whale replied calmly.

”You want a fight!”

Elder Green Turtle immediately stood up, rolling up his sleeves, ready to go.

Elder Tiger Whale was not one to back down, being naturally hot-tempered.

”Calm down, both of you, aren’t you ashamed in front of the newcomers!” Narwhal said coldly.

This scene left the newcomers speechless, directly at a loss for words.

Goodness, no wonder yesterday on Task Island, Xu Hei almost got into a fight, and Elder Yunhe just let them go outside to fight without stopping them.

So this is the atmosphere of the Penglai Sea.

”Demonic beasts are indeed different from human sects,” Xu Hei thought to himself.

Demonic beasts are naturally combative, which is expected, as a peaceful environment cannot produce strong individuals.

Even in human cultivation sects, there are also conflicts.

At this time, Narwhal stepped forward and said loudly, ”Newcomers, don’t worry. Although we in the Penglai Sea are combative and encourage fighting, there are rules. As long as you abide by the law, your safety will not be an issue.”

”My Whale lineage is in charge of law enforcement in the Penglai Sea, with laws to follow, fair and just.”

”For example, just now, Elder Tiger Whale’s sarcastic provocation and Elder Green Turtle’s retaliation are reasonable.”

Narwhal used this as an example to explain the legal rules of the Penglai Sea to everyone.

The demonic beasts listened attentively.

”For those with lower cultivation, we will provide protection, strictly prohibiting bullying by the strong. If discovered, it will be severely punished.”

”And if it’s the same level of cultivation, like Elder Green Turtle and Elder Tiger Whale, I would suggest they have a fight,” Narwhal said.

Everyone was left speechless.

Is this the law of the Penglai Sea? It’s simply incredible.

”This is the law of the Penglai Sea, called the Beast Law. The detailed content is here.”

Narwhal tossed a jade slip, which landed in front of each disciple.

Xu Hei took it, scanned it with his Divine Sense, and immediately understood.

In simple terms, the Beast Law is similar to the rules of human sects, but it places more emphasis on cultivation level and is more flexible.

Next, Elder Jin of the Sea Serpent Clan and Nine-Eyed Toad of the Toad Clan introduced their respective duties.

The Sea Serpent Clan is responsible for diplomacy and external resources, such as external mineral veins, spiritual veins, and diplomacy with human sects.

The Toad Clan handles a bit of everything, going wherever needed, dealing with problems other demon clans can’t solve.

This lineage excels in sea, land, and air, proficient in strange arts, with versatile immortal spells.

After hearing this, the expressions of the demonic beasts changed.

Some were secretly pleased, while others looked miserable, especially those who joined the Giant Shark clan. They were new and didn’t want to go out fighting and killing.

It’s known that the tasks on the task stele for going out are mostly marked in black, indicating extreme danger.

The happiest were those in the turtle lineage, as their duties were the safest, just guarding the local area and patrolling nearby at most.

”Heh, I know some of you are gloating, thinking you’re safe, but I tell you, don’t be too happy too soon,” Elder Tiger Whale sneered coldly.

His gaze swept over those assigned to the ”safe races,” a sinister curve forming at the corner of his mouth.

”Now, all thirty-four of you newcomers, regardless of which lineage you belong to, will be managed by me. You will follow me on the most dangerous missions, life and death disregarded!”

Elder Tiger Whale sneered.

With these words, the expressions of all the demonic beasts froze.
