Reborn at Boot Camp: General, Don’t Mess Around!

Chapter 5439: Chapter 5439: Tenderness

Qin Xiu, who had come back cold, went straight to the tea room, while Xia Jinyuan first stopped by the kitchen to exchange a few words with Ye Jian before going upstairs. Ye Jian brought the fruit plate to the tea room, actually not intending to stay and watch the game of chess; Old Man Xia then let her go out to continue assisting Uncle Fu.

She faintly sensed... Grandpa, who seemed to be in a hurry to send her out, might have known something.

Xia Jinyuan, whom she pushed along, deliberately stood still. Ye Jian had to nudge him to take a step, and only when she had pushed him out of the kitchen, out of Uncle Fu’s sight, did Xia Jinyuan suddenly embrace Ye Jian’s waist tightly and, with a swift turn, pressed her against the wall, which was already warm from the heating. He enveloped her completely in his embrace, shielding her from any draft, surrounded by his breath alone.

Ye Jian had experienced Xia Jinyuan’s boldness in the bedroom, but but but... this was in the living room, and he he he... he actually... actually took her by surprise like a little white rabbit. She wanted to jump away, but the skilled hunter trapping her didn’t give her a chance to bounce. He easily blocked her path of escape.

Even though Ye Jian progressed each year and didn’t suffer too much whenever she crossed paths with Xia Jinyuan, the fact was, as she improved, so did Xia Jinyuan. His skills grew increasingly profound, easily trapping Ye Jian and leaving her with no way out.

Ye Jian, cornered in the living room, panicked, fearing Uncle Fu from the kitchen might see them, and also fearing the two elders playing chess might come out and bump into them. Her hands hurriedly pressed against Xia Jinyuan’s chest, and she stuttered in a fluster, ”Let go of me quickly. Someone might see us.”

”I’m not afraid if they see us.” Xia Jinyuan was fearless, his arms tightly encircling Ye Jian’s slender waist. While speaking, his handsome face came close enough for his dignified nose to touch Ye Jian’s, ”Do you know what Qin Xiu and I talked about outside? Do you want to know? Hm?”

Comrade Xia Jinyuan, who wouldn’t give a love rival the slightest chance, now came to his girlfriend to act aggrieved. They say a crying child gets the most milk, a truth... let’s just say that Xia Jinyuan has known it since he was a child.

If he didn’t know it, how could he have ever escaped from beneath Commander Xia’s belt? That was because he knew how to cry. When other kids faced the descending belt, they would stiffen their necks and stubbornly refuse to bow and admit their mistakes. Xia Jinyuan was different; Commander Xia’s belt hadn’t even touched him when he would start howling so pitifully, it startled everyone in the courtyard.

The lesson he learned in childhood was not forgotten as he grew up; on the contrary, he applied it even more adeptly.

Hearing this, Ye Jian felt uneasy in her heart and asked in a barely audible voice, ”What did he say? Are you angry? He shouldn’t... He shouldn’t have said anything, should he?”

Ye Jian truly believed in Qin Xiu’s character; if Grandpa said he was good, he must be good.

No sooner had she finished speaking than she saw her own man’s face turn a shade darker. Ye Jian’s eyes grew serious, realizing she had said something wrong, and she quickly tried to reassure him, ”Don’t worry, don’t worry. Even if he said something, it won’t matter to me, and you shouldn’t dwell on it either. There’s no need.”

Could he really have said something?

Impossible.

Qin Xiu wasn’t the type to speak recklessly.

The placating Xia Jinyuan revealed a hint of a profound smile, ”I’m not dwelling on it, but somehow, having one’s girlfriend admired by someone else for so many years doesn’t feel great. And somehow, I feel like you quite admire him, don’t you?”

”Indeed, I do admire him, for his character and for his professional ability.” Ye Jian didn’t avoid the subject; she would clarify what needed to be clarified, and since there was nothing between her and Qin Xiu, there really was no need to evade.
