Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Complaining

Suddenly, the little creature flying up gave Wen Xin a big scare, and after seeing Dou Douʼs appearance, she patted her chest with lingering fear: ”Yeʼer, what... what happened to it? Did you buy it?”

Luo Ye spread her hands with a smile: ”No, it just wanted to follow me. I had no choice but to bring it back!”

Little Seagull seemed to understand, nodding its tiny head and chirping twice. Wen Xinʼs heart immediately softened like it could drip water. She squatted down and affectionately stroked the lovely little thing: ”Alright, from now on itʼs a member of our family. What should we name it?”

Luo Ye quickly responded: ”Dou Dou, letʼs call it Dou Dou!” Heaven knows what peculiar name her mom would come up with next. Her and her brotherʼs names were because Mom loved maple leaves; her brother was born and named Luo Feng, and she was named Luo Ye. According to Mom, she had planned from the beginning to have two kids.

”Dou Dou?” Indeed, upon knowing her naming rights were seized, Wen Xin showed a disappointed expression: ”I was thinking of naming it Luo Piao. Maple leaves fluttering, how nice!”

Luo Ye wiped the cold sweat from her forehead, secretly relieved by her ʼbrilliantʼ foresight, ”Mom, please spare it. If it ʼfloatsʼ away, it will be gone.”

While Wen Xin was stroking him, Dou Dou displayed a well-behaved little demeanor, occasionally pecking affectionately at Wen Xin with its little beak, tempting Wen Xin to hold it in her arms and not let go.

Luo Ye rolled her eyes: ”Such a novelty-loving little thing!”

”Chirp chirp...” Dou Dou began to struggle with scratching hands and feet—after all, others have four limbs, but it also has two wings.

”Okay, okay, let Mom hold you for a while!” Luo Ye hurriedly intervened, and as her words fell, Dou Dou stopped struggling and obediently lay in Wen Xinʼs arms.

Everyone was amazed. Maybe it had interacted with tourists by the sea a lot, and naturally it could understand human speech now? If it could speak, it would truly become a spirit!

”Yeʼer!” Wen Xin sat up straight holding Dou Dou, sighing: ”Itʼs all Momʼs fault for not telling you in advance. You should respect the veterans at the company. What you did today hurt their feelings.”

”Oh?” Luo Ye smiled lightly: ”Mom, did you go to the company this afternoon, and Su Yan complained?”

Wen Xin nodded: ”Yes, your Aunt Su cried a lot. She told me that if I donʼt trust her, I should tell her directly instead of having you audit the accounts silently. This makes everyone at the company think she took advantage of something, leaving her unable to defend herself.

Mom explained to her, and she then let it go, but she claimed she was unwell and asked for half a monthʼs leave, and no matter how I tried to keep her, it didnʼt work!”

”Is Mom worried?” Luo Ye leaned close to Wen Xin: ”Or does Mom blame Yeʼer in her heart?”

Wen Xin raised her hand to stroke Luo Yeʼs head, and Dou Dou took the opportunity to fly into Luo Yeʼs arms, prompting a burst of laughter from the mother and son. This little thing was busy showing its loyalty.

”Mom doesnʼt blame Yeʼer. Tell Mom, did you think it looked cool to audit accounts like they show on TV?” Wen Xinʼs question gave Luo Ye a headache, but it would be even weirder if her mom really thought she was just auditing accounts for show.

”Mom!” Luo Ye said seriously: ”I know you might think Iʼm just messing around, but Iʼm serious. Donʼt you think thereʼs something off about Su Yan?

Wenxin Garden is Momʼs wholly-owned company. How can Mom leave everything to outsiders? Donʼt you think her influence among the staff is much higher than Momʼs?”

Wen Xin shifted to a more comfortable position and hugged Luo Ye, casually stroking Dou Douʼs white chest, ”Yeʼer, running a company isnʼt as simple as you think. Mom has to take care of the family and doesnʼt have much energy to devote to the company.

Of course, Mom is aware that Su Yan has taken some advantages, but if you want a horse to run, you must feed the horse. Thereʼs no one else in the company who can take on the responsibility, so Mom has to turn a blind eye.”

”Mom must be almost completely turning a blind eye now, right? The companyʼs personnel are slack, good employees donʼt get to be put to good use, while relatives and sycophants occupy important positions. If this continues, who will take their work seriously?” Luo Ye stared seriously at Wen Xin: ”Mom, do you trust Yeʼer?”

”Of course I trust you, but Yeʼer, donʼt interfere with these matters. Mom doesnʼt have much ambition in her career, being able to earn a bit more to make our familyʼs life more comfortable is enough!” Wen Xin touched her daughterʼs delicate little nose: ”Yeʼerʼs task is to study well!”

”I remember Mom once said that Wenxin Garden was invested by uncle. If hundreds of thousands of funds eventually go down the drain, how could Mom face uncleʼs good intentions?” Luo Ye straightened her posture: ”Mom never mentions Grandpaʼs family affairs, I believe there must be unavoidable reasons, but even based on the principle that we must not let Grandpaʼs family look down on us, we canʼt just let outsiders embezzle the company, right?”

Wen Xinʼs eyes dimmed: ”Yeʼer stop, Mom is tired and needs to go back to the room to rest. For dinner... call Huachen Restaurant, and you two go pick it up!”

Luo Ye reluctantly called out: ”Mom!”

”The wallet is in the bag!” After saying this, Wen Xin went straight back to the bedroom.

Luo Ye stood up in annoyance: ”Brother, you make the call to order the food, Iʼll try to persuade Mom!”

Luo Feng quickly held his sister back: ”Yeʼer, let Mom have some peace. Think about it, weʼve grown up so big and have never seen anyone from Grandpaʼs family, showing that the conflict between Mom and Grandpaʼs family is irreconcilable. This must be very heartbreaking for Mom. Arenʼt you just peeling off her scab by persuading her?”

”Brother, some scars might heal after being exposed, but if puss remains inside, they might never heal for life, and might even get infected!” Luo Ye patted Luo Feng: ”Donʼt worry, I wonʼt ask about Grandpaʼs family, but we canʼt just let Mom go back to her room and be sad, right?”

”What are you two pulling and tugging at each other for? Whereʼs Mom?” Luo Zhenggangʼs stern voice suddenly came.

Luo Ye quickly stood next to Dou Dou: ”Dad, why did you come back so early today?”

”What early? Isnʼt it just time of getting off work? What are you blocking?” Luo Zhenggang said while leaning over to take a closer look.

”Thereʼs... nothing blocked, I was just about to introduce a new member of our family to you...” Luo Ye smirked as she lifted up Dou Dou: ”Dou Dou!”

After Luo Zhenggang took a hot towel twisted by Luo Feng and wiped his hands, he seriously looked at Luo Ye: ”Yeʼer, you shouldnʼt be too greedy, I already made an exception by agreeing to keep a foxhound!”

”Dad, I didnʼt want to...” Under Luo Yeʼs explanation, Dou Dou was a lonely orphan, seeing her was like seeing its own mother, if she didnʼt bring it home, it would have been a corpse on the beach by now...

”Dad, I can vouch for it, itʼs true!” Seeing his father look towards him, Luo Feng quickly testified.

Luo Zhenggang looked his son up and down: ”Your testimony is invalid, Iʼm just wondering if youʼve gotten smart and started dating girls?”

”Dad...” Luo Fengʼs face turned slightly pale with fright: ”I promise, Iʼve been studying hard, Iʼve already agreed to Yeʼer, no more dating!”

Luo Ye looked silently at her brother; when had she ever said he couldnʼt date?
