Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Dream or Rebirth?

Consciousness congregated in her mind; her body felt somewhat stiff and numb. Luo Ye gently twisted her body and was just about to open her eyes when suddenly she realized — if she was alive now, there were only two places she could be — the hospital or a high-security prisoner ward!

She listened carefully and sniffed. A faint smell of disinfectant and a stench assaulted her nose. Feeling that there was no one else in the room, Luo Ye cautiously opened her eyes.

Toilet... Toilet!

Luo Ye was shocked by her current surroundings; she was in a toilet, lying on a dirty cement floor. Luo Ye, who always loved cleanliness, quickly jumped up and, after a couple of attempts due to lack of strength, slowly crawled up.

She brushed away the bangs blocking her view and tucked them behind her ears, but they fell back down in front of her eyes. Luo Ye frowned; when had her bangs become so awkwardly long?

The moment she saw her clothes clearly, Luo Ye froze. She clearly wore a black leather jacket under her police uniform, but now she saw herself in a high school tracksuit? The most common type with blue and white stripes — how many years had it been since she last wore such clothes?

The key issue was, her proud 36D bust size had deflated in a school uniform to just 32A? She trusted her sense of touch, it couldnʼt be wrong!

Her height... seemed not to reach 168cm either. She stared carefully at her palm — the skin was tender and smooth without a single callus, her palm seemed smaller too. Could this be a dream back to her past?

She pinched herself hard — it truly hurt! It seemed like this wasnʼt a dream. Her hand cautiously stroked her forehead — it was smooth and unscarred!

Had her soul returned in another body? This thought caused Luo Ye to break out in a cold sweat. She quickly rolled up her sleeves; the crescent-shaped birthmark on her arm was clearly visible. Fortunately, it was her own body!

”If there is a next life, Yeʼer still wants to be your daughter! I want you to live and walk this journey with me! I donʼt want hatred and loneliness...” Suddenly, Luo Yeʼs mind flashed back to her wish when she was shot. Could it be... could it be... that heaven had pitied her and granted her wish?

The bullet had hit her in the forehead, and this seemed like the best explanation. Luo Yeʼs heart started pounding; if this was a return to the past... By the look of the clothes, it must be middle or high school?

Then, Grandpa, dad, mom, and brother should all be still alive!

Right, if she could be reborn, could her enemies have been reborn too? Her rapidly beating heart suddenly calmed down. If it was really so, how could she protect her family and her loved ones?

”Luo Ye, are you in the restroom?” The call of a middle-aged woman pulled Luo Ye back to reality. She hesitated, then responded, ”Iʼll be right out!”

Luo Ye quickly gathered her thoughts. Whether this was a dream or reality, she had to deal with everything normally. If this really was a rebirth, today might be the day in her second year of high school when she fainted during a PE class. The only memory of her fainting in the restroom was back then, and her physical condition was on par with Lin Daiyu. Thinking of her later physical strength — anything in this world was possible.

She unlocked the door and pulled it open. A woman in her thirties, dressed in a white coat, sized up Luo Ye: ”Xiao Luo, are you alright? Youʼve been in the restroom for more than half an hour!”

Luo Ye forced a slight smile, ”Thanks, Doctor Zhang, Iʼm fine. I just felt a bit tired, leaned against the wall for a while, and actually dozed off. Luckily you called me!” Now she knew where she was — the schoolʼs medical room.

The reason being, during high school, Luo Ye was a frequent visitor to the schoolʼs medical room, and Doctor Zhang always treated her. Even after many years, seeing Doctor Zhang again, she recognized her instantly.

”Luo Ye, youʼre at the age of growing, you should pay attention to your diet and exercise more. Studying is significant, but without health, everything is pointless,” Doctor Zhang talked non-stop as she helped Luo Ye back on the sickbed, ”Letʼs hang another glucose bottle; youʼre too weak!”

”Doctor Zhang, I would like to go home to rest earlier, can we not hang it?” At this moment, Luo Ye had no patience to stay in the medical room.

”How can that be? You just stayed in the restroom so long before coming out, what if you faint again? Lie down, Iʼll go get the medicine,” Doctor Zhang forced Luo Ye onto the bed and left for the pharmacy.

Seeing Doctor Zhangʼs figure disappearing behind the pharmacy door, Luo Ye quickly got up and slipped out. Whether it was a dream or reality, it was a blessing to see her family again!

”Little Loa Ye, did you finish the IV?” As she passed the duty room, the on-duty Grandpa Wang teased Luo Ye with a smile, ”Didnʼt cry today, did you?”

”I... I did not!” Luo Ye squeezed out an unnatural smile. For the past eight years, her smiles were rare, and coupled with her current dazed state, recovering a natural smile was indeed a challenge.

The duty roomʼs Grandpa Wang kept watching until Luo Yeʼs figure disappeared around the corner before retracting his head, muttering to himself, ”Why is Little Luo Ye so abnormal today? Usually, she sweetly calls me Grandpa Wang and chats with me for a bit!”

”Grandpa Wang, have you seen Luo Ye?” Doctor Zhang hurried down from upstairs.

Grandpa Wang pointed outside, ”She just left not long ago, the girl was a bit unusual today!”

”Not at all, the usually obedient and timid girl actually sneaked away while I was preparing medicine. What if she faints on the road? No, Iʼm going out to check!” Doctor Zhang said and rushed out like a gust of wind.

Grandpa Wang chuckled and shouted, ”Doctor Zhang, catch that girl and spank her hard, see if she learns her lesson!”

...

Luo Ye wandered to the school gate in a daze based on her impression, and before she could step out, the gatekeeper stopped her: ”Student, please show your pass!”

”Pass?” Luo Ye looked at the gatekeeper, puzzled, and couldnʼt react immediately, please forgive her current mental confusion, she couldnʼt think clearly.

The gatekeeper smiled, ”Student, as per school rules, students cannot leave school without permission before dismissal time unless thereʼs a note from the homeroom teacher. Go back to class, you donʼt look like a bad child whoʼd skip school!”

”Thank you!” Luo Ye wisely turned around and walked back. She of course wanted to climb over the wall and escape, but with her current physical condition, that was just a dream. The only option was to return to the classroom full of doubts and wait until school was over!

”Luoluo, where did you run off to? I went to the infirmary and Doctor Zhang said you ran away, she ran out looking for you and was quite upset. Iʼve been searching for you for a long time. Look at you, all dizzy, why didnʼt you listen to Doctor Zhang and take another IV?”

”Luoluo, when did you also become so bold to secretly run away from the infirmary, ah... I say, youʼre not thinking of running home, are you?”

Looking at the chattering and caring girl with a baby face suddenly appearing in front of her, Luo Ye paused briefly and then grabbed the otherʼs hand: ”Ying Nuo, letʼs go back to the classroom!”

Seeing her friend again, Luo Ye was naturally thrilled. Ying Nuo was her best friend in high school, and later they attended the same university. They separated in their junior year when her father had an accident. Afterward, to avoid causing trouble for Ying Nuo, she broke off contact with her.

However, she always kept an eye on Ying Nuoʼs life and knew that Ying Nuo, despite knowing the dangers, was consistently looking for her. She truly cared as a good sister!

”Luoluo, why do I feel you are a bit different? Hmm...” Ying Nuo walked along, examining Luo Ye: ”It seems, youʼve suddenly got a straighter back, more courage, and more confidence when you speak!”

”Is that so? Thatʼs good, all good feelings!” Luo Ye smiled.

Ying Nuo patted her head: ”Oh right, now I know what felt off. Your smile feels a bit cold? Your previous smiles were always timid and gentle!”

Luo Ye hesitated slightly and gave a cool smile: ”Nuonuo, people have to grow up. You should know the reason why I fainted today.

Lying in the infirmary bed, I suddenly realized that my forbearance only enabled her to become more unscrupulous. So, I will slowly make her understand, one must take responsibility for their actions!”

If it was indeed a fresh start, she would no longer be her former timid self, nor did she want to pretend to be timid. So, it was time to give her good friends a heads-up!

She fainted today because several classmates coerced her to keep picking up volleyballs under the scorching sun, and she collapsed from exhaustion. Even a cornered rabbit will bite; even if she was once a soft rabbit, biting when cornered is normal! Her age allows for some spirited responses!

By leveraging this transformative opportunity, it could also help everyone understand her sudden change. If no one offends me, I wonʼt offend anyone, but if someone offends me, donʼt blame me for being ruthless!

This was the realization Luo Ye came to after her family fell into disaster and she learned who the culprit was, itʼs just a pity... she now wasnʼt sure what state her enemies were in!

After a brief surprise, Ying Nuo smiled happily: ”Luo Ye, have you finally figured it out? Thatʼs great! Iʼve always told you to be brave, and you always said your dad didnʼt allow you to cause trouble at school. I didnʼt want to ask, but stirring trouble and defending against bullying are completely different things, right?”

Luo Ye nodded, ”Right! Maybe I never really understood my dadʼs intentions!” She had wondered if her dad choosing a regular school for her and her brother without revealing their family background was his way of preparing for possible troubles, letting them adapt to ordinary life?

But if that was the case, how could her dad not have planned a fallback for them? Dad knew that Grandpa, Uncle, and Aunt could not protect her and her brother.

Thinking of her motherʼs suicide, her brotherʼs tragic death, and her own suffering, a hint of resentment towards her father surged within Luo Ye—if only her father hadnʼt trusted the wrong people...
