My Talent Skill Mutated

Back home, Chen Yu took a cold shower.

Stepping out of the bathroom, Chen Yu wiped the water from his hair and gazed out the window.

Plans can never keep up with change!

He had planned on making a simple living as a Mercenary, but now he’d been selected by the Superpower Academy.

However, this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

By going to the Superpower Academy, he could learn more about the world.

Awakened, Martial Techniques, Martial Methods...

As he grew stronger, he was bound to encounter them eventually.

’I’ll get a good night’s sleep tonight.’

’We probably won’t reach Jingzhou tomorrow. It’ll be the day after.’

Chen Yu thought to himself as he looked out at the night sky.

Then, he turned and went into the bedroom to rest.

...

”You were discovered?”

Wang Bo looked at the young man before him, who nodded in response.

”Yeah, he spotted me. He’s incredibly alert. He moved so fast I couldn’t even react.”

”It seems that powerful ability of his is truly Extraordinary...” Wang Bo mused, his head bowed in thought.

The young man was a Level 4 Martial Artist.

And he possessed a stealth ability, yet he was still discovered and subdued. He had truly underestimated an S-rank Awakened.

Cai Kun had said Chen Yu was formidable, and while Wang Bo had his doubts, they had now vanished without a trace.

He looked up at the young man. ”Since you were discovered, there’s no need to follow him anymore. Go and rest. Remember to come back first thing tomorrow morning.”

The young man looked at Wang Bo. ”Are we still going to follow him?”

Wang Bo nodded. ”Naturally. It’s an order from the Dean. Nothing can happen to him. Even though no information has leaked, we can’t allow for even the slightest mistake.”

The young man nodded. ”Alright, I’ll be leaving then.”

With that, he turned and left the room.

Watching the young man leave, Wang Bo pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, a smile touching his lips.

’If we nurture him properly, he’ll be the new star of our Jingzhou Superpower Academy. But with his level of strength, pairing him with other students will be a hassle.’

’Oh well. Once he’s at the academy, I won’t have to worry about these things anymore.’

...

As the sun rose in the east, Chen Yu awoke from his slumber.

He had slept soundly all night and felt completely refreshed.

’Seven thirty...’

After checking the time, Chen Yu lay in bed for a while longer. Just then, Sophie walked in, carrying a glass of hot milk and some bread.

”Master, it is time for your breakfast.”

Chen Yu nodded, drank the hot milk, ate the bread, and then got dressed and washed up.

He didn’t have much to pack—just a single backpack. Besides a change of clothes, there was nothing else.

At 8:00 a.m. sharp, a video call from Instructor Wang came in.

They agreed on a meeting point. Chen Yu ended the call. Sophie transformed into a dark gold bracelet, which he put on. Then, grabbing his backpack with one hand, Chen Yu headed downstairs.

After leaving his residential complex, he sent a message to Li Qing and the others, then took a car to the Mercenary headquarters.

---

A little after 8:10, Chen Yu arrived at the Mercenary headquarters by car.

In front of Building A, a large black Hummer was parked at the entrance.

When Chen Yu arrived, he immediately saw several figures.

Instructor Wang and Captain Xu.

Besides them, there were two fully armed personnel. One of them was the same young man he had seen last night.

They were fully equipped with firearms and other weapons—armed to the teeth, you could say.

Seeing Chen Yu, Instructor Wang broke into a wide smile and quickly walked up to him.

”Instructor Wang,” Chen Yu greeted him.

Instructor Wang nodded, looking at him with concern. ”Did you rest well?”

”I did.”

”Good. We’ll be leaving immediately,” Instructor Wang said.

Chen Yu looked toward Captain Xu, who stepped forward. ”Chen Yu, don’t worry about a thing. Just go to the academy and study hard. You’re sure to become a pillar of our society in the future.”

Chen Yu replied, ”I will.”

’I haven’t been in the Qing City Safety Zone for long, but it’s been comfortable. I have a good impression of it. I’ll come back to visit if I get the chance.’

”Chen Yu, get in the car. We’re leaving now. It’s a long journey, so we probably won’t arrive until tomorrow,”

Instructor Wang said.

One of the armed young men standing nearby immediately opened the rear passenger door.

Chen Yu glanced at Captain Xu, who smiled. ”Get in. Jingzhou is where you can truly make your mark.”

Chen Yu nodded and got into the Hummer.

”Old Xu, we’ll be taking our leave,” Instructor Wang said, then got into the front passenger seat.

Captain Xu nodded. Then, the two armed young men got in the car—one drove, and the other sat next to Chen Yu.

With a roar of the engine, the vehicle sped away.

’An S-rank ability... This is like a dragon returning to the sea...’

Watching the Hummer disappear, Captain Xu was filled with emotion.

’Chen Yu’s ability was rated S-rank! I can no longer predict his future. If he reaches a certain level, I’m afraid even Ancestor Star won’t be his final destination.’

’They’ve left. Now I can file the report.’

Averting his gaze, Captain Xu went into the building.

...

”Chen Yu, last night was a misunderstanding. Please don’t take it to heart. He meant no harm; it was just a precaution.”

Instructor Wang said, looking back at him from the passenger seat.

Chen Yu glanced at the armed young man beside him and smiled slightly. ”Please, Instructor Wang, don’t mention it. I understand.”

’I can understand them sending someone to protect me. According to An Ran, the Jingzhou Superpower Academy only has three S-rank Ability Users in total. One more makes a huge difference.’

Hearing Chen Yu’s response, a trace of relief appeared on Instructor Wang’s face.

’The last thing I want is to be on the bad side of an S-rank Ability User. That would be an absolute nightmare!’

Although an S-rank ability didn’t guarantee that the ability itself was particularly Extraordinary, the potential of someone who possessed one could not be underestimated.

Once they fully developed, they were all Destruction Level beings!

Even his current strength was not to be taken lightly.

Chen Yu’s strength was even greater than he had anticipated.

’He can suppress a Level 4 Martial Artist. If he went all out, he might even be able to hold his own against a Level 5. With a bit of nurturing, he’ll be an absolutely outstanding talent.’

...

The car continued on its way out of the city.

Soon, they left the Qing City Safety Zone.

Sitting in the car, Chen Yu looked out at the endless wilderness.

’The first time I came to the Qing City Safety Zone, I also arrived by car. Back then, though, I was filled with anxiety, wondering how I was going to survive. But now, things are completely different.’

’I don’t have to worry about making a living anymore. From now on, the Mercenary Association will deposit a stipend into my account every month. Ten or twenty thousand isn’t a lot, but it’s enough to live on without any problems.’

’If I want to make real money, there will be plenty of ways to do it later. I could even become a Bounty Hunter. That’s a surefire way to make money fast. But that’s probably not an option for now. I have to wait until I’m settled in at the Superpower Academy.’

---

A black Hummer sped through the wilderness.

Planes, high-speed rail, cars.

High-speed rail was the fastest and safest mode of transport, but the lines only connected large safety zones; smaller ones had no access.

Even though this world’s technology was highly advanced, mutated beasts were the biggest problem.

There were too many mutated beasts on Ancestor Star, and their destructive power was devastating.

For long distances, traveling by car was the safest.

Traveling by plane was extremely dangerous!

Flying mutated beasts were the main issue. After all, the beasts couldn’t be controlled. If one suddenly appeared out of nowhere, the plane and everyone on it would be doomed.

In a car, at least you wouldn’t be targeted by flying mutated beasts.

If you were targeted by beasts on the ground, you could at least fight back. In the air, the situation was completely different.

Being attacked by a flying mutated beast at an altitude of several thousand to ten thousand meters meant an extremely high probability of death.
