My Talent Skill Mutated

Their gazes met.

Captain Xu and the man with the gold-rimmed glasses were looking at Chen Yu.

Outside, Li Qing quietly pulled the office door shut but didn’t leave. Instead, he stood guard at the entrance.

”Captain Xu,” Chen Yu stepped forward and spoke.

Captain Xu stood up and looked at Chen Yu. ”Come, let me make an introduction. This is Instructor Wang from Jingzhou Superpower Academy.”

”Hello, Instructor Wang.”

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses nodded, also rising to his feet. He sized Chen Yu up from head to toe before speaking, ”So you’re Chen Yu. I hear you have dual abilities?”

”Yes.” Chen Yu nodded. He didn’t hide it; after all, he’d already revealed his abilities. Since they were here for him, they must have already done some homework.

”Impressive. To awaken two abilities... it seems your talent is quite extraordinary,” the gold-rimmed man said with a slight smile.

”Maybe I was just lucky,” Chen Yu replied.

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses replied, ”Luck is a part of strength. Awakening multiple abilities is a sign of talent. There’s no need to be modest.”

”Let’s test him first,” Captain Xu suggested.

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses nodded and took out a metal cube.

VMM—!

The metal cube vibrated for a moment, then rapidly transformed into a metal pillar that stood on the floor.

Chen Yu looked at the silver metal pillar. It had several grooves on its surface.

A talent-testing instrument.

It could measure the level of one’s talent, but it couldn’t identify the specific ability itself. For that, you’d have to go to the academy, which had special ability-testing rooms that could give you a general idea.

But for the most part, this talent-testing instrument was enough.

The Ability Level was what truly mattered!

The more powerful the ability, the higher its Ability Level!

’But I don’t see how this thing tests the level.’

’It must have something to do with those grooves!’

’Seven grooves... maybe they correspond to the seven levels, from F to S-rank.’

”Go on, grab it. Don’t be nervous,” the man with the gold-rimmed glasses said.

Chen Yu stepped forward and gripped the talent-testing instrument.

’Let’s see if it can measure my abilities now.’

Chen Yu, however, was quite calm.

Soon, the first groove lit up with a green light.

Immediately after, the second groove lit up with a blue light!

Then, the third groove lit up with a red light.

Seeing the third groove illuminate, a smile appeared on the face of the man with the gold-rimmed glasses.

Then, the fourth groove lit up with a silver light!

The smile on the gold-rimmed man’s face widened.

Next, the fifth groove lit up—orange!

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses was now beaming.

Then, the lights went out.

A moment later, a second sequence of lights appeared: green, then blue.

It stopped at blue, and the lights went out again.

”A B-rank...”

”Huh?”

Just as the man with the gold-rimmed glasses was about to speak, a third sequence of lights ignited.

???

’Three talents?!’

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses felt his heart tremble.

Awakened with dual abilities were rare enough, but those with triple abilities were even rarer.

’Didn’t they say he had dual abilities?’

’Was there a hidden one?’

He stared intently at the metal instrument as the first green light came on!

Soon, the second light, blue, lit up!

Red, silver, orange...

”Two B-ranks... Hiss... Excellent, excellent!”

When the man with the gold-rimmed glasses saw the orange light appear, he was overcome with excitement.

’Two B-rank abilities!’

’This is a blue-chip prospect!’

’This trip was more than worth it!’

But then, the sixth groove on the instrument lit up!

Purple!

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses: ━=͟͟͞͞(Ŏ◊Ŏ‧̣̥̇)

”A!!!”

A-rank!

However, the test wasn’t over yet.

The final groove lit up!

Gold!!!

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses: Σ⊙▃⊙川

WHAT THE FUCK!!!

Watching the golden light flare, the body of the man with the gold-rimmed glasses began to tremble.

”You... you... you...”

He stared at Chen Yu, so shocked he was at a complete loss for words, his speech faltering.

”Mama!!”

Chen Yu: ”...”

Captain Xu: ”...”

—

The lights faded, and the metal pillar returned to normal. With nothing else happening, Chen Yu released his grip.

’Three abilities... Did it just detect my Spirit Devouring Skill, too?’ Chen Yu blinked.

He currently had three Skills.

The talent-testing instrument had detected all three of them in one go.

The Spirit Devouring Skill was the lowest, only an E-rank ability.

But since it was just a supportive recovery ability, Chen Yu felt that even getting a rank for it was pretty good.

His Cryo Breath was B-rank, which was about what he had predicted.

And his final ability, the Biological Force Field, was S-rank!

Then again, reaching S-rank felt about right to Chen Yu. After all, the Biological Force Field was a Golden Legend.

’Now that my abilities have been tested, I should be set.’

In the office, the man with the gold-rimmed glasses stared at Chen Yu, his breathing growing ragged.

S-rank!

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses had never imagined that this time, he would find a royal flush!

At Jingzhou Superpower Academy, there were only three people with S-rank abilities.

It had been several years since an S-rank Awakened had appeared.

The last time an S-rank Awakened had emerged was over two years ago, at the Capital City Superpower Academy.

This time, his own Jingzhou Superpower Academy had found an S-rank Ability User.

And he was the one who had discovered this S-rank Ability User himself.

At this moment, he felt as if his heart was about to leap out of his chest.

A triple-ability Awakened!

With a top-tier S-rank ability!

’This Chen Yu must belong to our Jingzhou Superpower Academy!’

”Haha, excellent, excellent, truly excellent!!”

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses burst out laughing and threw his arms around Chen Yu in a hug.

”...”

Chen Yu tried to struggle free, but the man’s embrace was iron-clad.

He looked toward Captain Xu for help.

Captain Xu snapped back to reality and hurriedly said, ”Instructor Wang, don’t be rash! Calm down, please calm down.”

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses also realized he’d lost his composure. He immediately let go of Chen Yu, his expression softening considerably as he looked at him.

’No, I have to be absolutely sure,’ the thought flashed through his mind. The man with the gold-rimmed glasses looked at Chen Yu, his face wreathed in smiles. ”Chen Yu, please test it one more time.”

?

Hearing this, Chen Yu just looked at the man.

He didn’t say anything, simply gripping the metal instrument again.

The lights flared once more!

After three sequences, the result was the same as before!

Triple abilities!

One S-rank, one B-rank, and one E-rank!

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses pushed his spectacles up his nose, barely managing to suppress the storm of emotion raging within him.

He turned to Captain Xu.

”Old Xu, until Chen Yu is formally enrolled, you must help me keep the results of this test a secret.”

His expression was serious, his face grave.

Captain Xu nodded. ”Don’t worry, I’ll keep it confidential.”

What did an S-rank Ability User represent?

Even though he wasn’t an Awakened himself, he knew about the distinctions between ability levels.

An S-rank Ability User possessed the most powerful type of ability!

Their potential was immense!

He had never anticipated such a test result.

An S-rank ability was simply beyond imagination!

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses looked at Chen Yu again, his gaze gentle. ”Chen Yu, wait here for a moment. I need to step out.”

Chen Yu nodded.

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses immediately walked out of the office.

Watching the man’s departing figure, Captain Xu turned to Chen Yu.

Once these test results were reported, Chen Yu’s future would be changed forever.

An S-rank Awakened!

With such a future ahead of him, he was guaranteed a place within the Superpower Alliance!

”Have a seat.”

Captain Xu said with a broad smile.

Chen Yu plopped down into a chair.

’Once you test as S-rank, the treatment you get is completely different.’

Chen Yu, however, wasn’t particularly excited.

’If one Golden Legend can appear, then there’s a chance a second one will appear in the future.’

’Every time my body undergoes an Evolution, a new Skill appears.’

’This isn’t the end!’

’I just need to acquire enough Source of Life.’

”You kid, you’re about to soar to the heavens,” Captain Xu said with a sigh of emotion as he looked at Chen Yu.

”Once you get into the Superpower Academy, things will be completely different.”

Chen Yu said, ”I think being a Mercenary is pretty good too.”

Captain Xu laughed heartily. ”There are plenty of Mercenaries, but the Superpower Academy is different. In the future, you might even have the chance to become one of the pillars of humanity.”

”Work hard. Once this is confirmed, everything will be settled for you. It won’t be long before you can head to Jingzhou.”

Chen Yu nodded.

Jingzhou Base City.

’Ma Xiang is going to university there too!’

’Maybe I’ll get to see him then.’
