Chapter 380: Velzard Family

The void of space was a vast, cold canvas, but Ethan moved through it with a purpose that burned like a star. He knew the clock was ticking. Somewhere in the shadows of the inverse world, a hunter had caught his scent. To survive, he did not need to be stronger. He needed to be invisible. And for that, he needed the Space Cube to reach the Chaos Rank.

Ethan set his sights on a planet that pulsed with an aura so dense it could be felt from light-years away. This was Aethelgard, a world where gravity was so heavy that a normal human would be crushed into dust instantly. It was a hub for the elite, a place where Monarch-level beings were not legends, but active rulers of sprawling dynasties.

As Ethan descended toward the planet’s surface, the oppressive weight of the atmosphere pressed against him. He immediately suppressed his aura, using his mastery over energy to appear as a wandering traveler of the 50th dimensional Realm. Strong enough to earn respect. Common enough to avoid scrutiny.

The capital city, Olyndos, was a marvel of white marble and floating gardens. Here, treasures that would spark wars in the lower realms were sold casually at street stalls.

Ethan spent his first few days moving through high-end treasure houses and secret auctions. He visited the Vault of Eternal Stars and the Pavilion of Infinite Riches, his eyes sweeping across every ore, every relic, every sealed artifact.

”Nothing,” Ethan muttered as he stepped out of a shop specializing in primordial metals. ”Plenty of Rare and Epic materials, but nothing with the essence to help Nini with the upgrade. Nini cannot evolve with trash.”

He understood the problem quickly. The items he truly needed would never be displayed openly. They were locked away in private treasuries, guarded by ancient seals and Monarch-level or higher sentinels.

Ethan sat in a quiet tea house, observing the rhythm of the city. Breaking into those treasuries was possible but that could create many problems which he didn’t want right now. He did not need force. He needed access.

”I need a role,” he thought. ”A warrior is a tool. A strategist is a threat. But a healer is a savior.”

Healing was one of Ethan’s ultimate talents. With his understanding of laws and Infinite Comprehension, he did not merely repair flesh. He could repair existence itself. He shed his identity as a fighter and adopted the persona of a wandering physician named Dr. Alistair.

He began investigating rumors among the high nobility. In a world of gods and Monarchs, illness was rare. What passed as sickness was usually a curse, a wound from a forbidden law, or a cultivation deviation.

Soon, one name surfaced repeatedly.

The Velzard Family.

The Velzards were one of the three pillar families of Aethelgard. Their ancestor was a Middle-stage Monarch whose power could split the sky. Yet the clan was cloaked in gloom.

Their daughter, Seraphina Velzard, was a prodigy who had reached the peak of the Sector lord realm at a young age. She was the future of the family. Six months ago, she had fallen into a deep and inexplicable coma. Her life force remained stable, but her soul was unreachable.

The Velzard Ancestor had spent a fortune hiring alchemists and divine healers from across the sector. Even other Monarchs had attempted to probe her soul. All returned with the same conclusion.

There was no cause.

She was simply fading.

The Velzard estate was a fortress carved into the side of a shimmering mountain. When Ethan arrived, the entrance was crowded. Despite countless failures, the reward remained tempting. A Favor of the Ancestor and access to the Hall of Origins.

”Move aside, amateur!” a boisterous voice shouted.

A man in golden robes, carrying a staff pulsing with holy light, shoved past Ethan. He was a renowned High Healer from a neighboring system. Several others followed, each wearing arrogance like armor.

Ethan watched quietly. He did not engage. When it was his turn, he approached the stewards and said simply, ”I am here to see the girl.”

The steward glanced at Ethan’s plain attire and sighed. ”Another one. Go inside. Stay in the waiting hall. If the High Healer fails, you might get a minute.”

Inside, the atmosphere was heavy. The Velzard Patriarch, whose presence felt like a mountain, paced the hall. The High Healer stood before a shimmering barrier that led to the inner chambers.

”My Lord Patriarch,” the High Healer announced, ”I possess the Dew of the Morning Star. If this cannot awaken her, then her soul is truly lost.”

He was allowed entry.

An hour later, he emerged. His face was pale. Sweat soaked his golden robes. He said nothing. He only shook his head and hurried away.

The Patriarch’s composure shattered at that point.

”Is there no one?” he roared, his energy shaking the walls. ”Must my grand daughter wither away while we watch?”

Ethan stepped forward. ”I would like to try.”

The Patriarch’s sharp gaze locked onto him. ”You? You carry no tools, no disciples, and your aura barely reaches 50th dimensional Realm. Why should I waste my time?”

”You will see for your self.”, Ethan replied calmly.

If they allowed, then that was good, but if they didn’t, he wouldn’t humble himself infront of this weaklings.

The hall fell silent.

The confidence in his voice forced the Patriarch to pause. After a long moment, he gestured toward the chamber. ”Go. But if you deceive us, you will not leave this mountain alive.”

The room was filled with the scent of rare herbs and expensive incense. Seraphina lay upon a bed of spirit jade. Her beauty remained, but her skin was translucent, waxen, as if she were slowly turning into a statue.

Ethan did not approach immediately. He closed his eyes and activated the Eyes of Existence.

When he opened them, the world transformed.

The room vanished. In its place, he saw flowing energy, trembling laws, and the structure of reality itself.

The Patriarch and guards watched from the doorway as Ethan’s eyes turned a terrifying silver.

Ethan’s breath caught suddenly.

Attached to Seraphina’s chest, where her heart should have been, was something impossible. A thin, misty thread. It was neither gold nor black.

It was grey.

”This...” Ethan whispered.

This was not illness.

This was not a curse.

The grey thread was an anchor. Something outside this world, governed by Entropy, was siphoning her meaning from existence.

”The Law of Entropy,” Ethan realized. ”She is not dying. She is being erased.”

To anyone else, she appeared to be in a coma. They could not perceive the thread because they did not understand the Inverse. But to Ethan, who had touched 0.1 percent of that forbidden truth, it blazed like a beacon.

He turned to the Patriarch, who watched with desperate hope.

”I can wake her,” Ethan said. ”But I want to visit your treasury.”

The Patriarch stepped forward. ”If you save my grand daughter, the Velzard family will give you half of our treasures.”

Ethan smiled faintly.

He reached for the grey thread.

As his fingers brushed it, the Law of Entropy within his mind resonated.

The thread shuddered and slowly started being absorbed by him.
