Chapter 81: Comprehending Laws

Ethan sat cross-legged. Nine law stones were arranged in front of him, and the six law spheres were also placed on the floor nearby. Then he called Po out.

Ethan asked Po, ”Do you know anyone who had comprehended all nine laws before breaking through to the Planetary Realm?”

Po looked at him as if he had just heard the most ridiculous question ever. He yawned, ”Boss, please do what you need to do. Don’t disturb my sleep by asking this type of ridiculous question. Are you a child bullying a panda?”

With that, he vanished into the air again.

Ethan was speechless. ”Anyway. I’ll do it. But first, I need to break through to the Emperor level 9. It seems I need to buy some resources for this that would help me break through quicker, or else I won’t have enough time.”

He entered the Virtual Universe again and went straight to the shop. There, he bought two low-level energy fluids, three mid-level, and three high-level energy fluids suitable for the Emperor Realm. This cost him 100 contribution points.

When Ethan opened his eyes, space split open in front of him, and a box materialized out of thin air. He opened it. Inside were eight liquid bottles—two blue, three purple, and three violet.

Ethan didn’t wait any longer. He consumed the two low-level ones and activated his breathing technique. His core turned into a black hole, drawing energy from the air and from the fluids he had just swallowed. He needed one day to break through to Level 1 Emperor from King.

This time, though, he broke through two levels in just twelve hours. Four times the cultivation speed. Very good.

Then he swallowed the three purple ones. Again, he had previously calculated that at least one and a half days would be needed to break through to Level 4. But this time, he reached Level 6 in a single day—something he thought would have taken at least four and a half days. More than four times his normal speed.

A day and twelve hours passed, but he didn’t stop. He took out the three violet-colored fluids and swallowed them. He had estimated that from here, at least two days would be needed per level. But once again, he advanced faster than expected, breaking through to Level 9 Emperor in only one and a half days.

Three days in total, and he had advanced from Level 1 Emperor to Level 9. It was simply unheard of. Even in the history of the primordial humans, not even the supremes had broken through this fast, even with more powerful resources.

His core was fifty meters in diameter at Level 1 Emperor. Now, with the breakthroughs, he gained forty centimeters more. 50.4 meters in diameter.

Okay, he was now ready to comprehend laws. First, he would comprehend the Light Law, then Thunder and Metal. After that, he would comprehend the remaining six elemental laws. As for the supreme laws, he would only comprehend Space and Time now before breaking through. The plan was set.

He commanded, ”System, make a row about the law comprehension in the panel.”

[Okay.] came the reply.

First, he took the Light Elemental Law Stone and closed his eyes.

Then he heard the notification.

[Ding! The Law of Light is detected. Comprehend?]

”Sure,” Ethan said, grinning.

A row appeared in his panel.

[Law of Light: 0.00001%]

He saw the percentage increasing at a visible rate, without pausing for a moment.

One hour later:

[Law of Light: 0.1%]

Cool. He needed ten hours to comprehend one percent of the law.

Ten hours later:

[Law of Light: 1%]

He stopped. He needed only one percent, and besides it felt like he couldn’t comprehend any further. Some kind of barrier was obstructing him.

Okay.

Next, he took the Law of Thunder Stone.

Same as before. He needed ten hours.

[Law of Thunder: 1%]

Then came the Law of Metal.

Ten hours later:

[Law of Metal: 1%]

A total of four days and six hours had passed in his seclusion.

Ethan didn’t waste time. He only had eleven days and eighteen hours left.

He picked up the Law of Fire Stone in his right hand and the Law of Fire Sphere in his left. Since he didn’t have affinity with this law, he needed the help of the sphere.

This time he needed twelve hours to comprehend the Law of Fire—two hours more.

[Law of Fire: 1%]

Next was the Law of Earth.

Another twelve hours.

[Law of Earth: 1%]

Five days and six hours had passed in total.

Twelve more hours.

[Law of Water: 1%]

Only three more laws remained from the nine basic laws.

Thirty-six hours later:

[Law of Ice: 1%] [Law of Darkness: 1%] [Law of Wind: 1%]

A total of seven days and six hours had passed.

Ethan hadn’t wasted even a single second. His panel had been updated seven times. His strength had multiplied one hundred twenty-eight times.

[Master: Ethan Hunt

Physique: 16.384 Quintillion

Spirit: 16.384 Quintillion

Talent: Infinite Comprehension]

(8 days 18 hours remaining)

Time was ticking.

Now it was time to comprehend the supreme laws.

Then he took the space elemental object he had obtained from the Virtual Universe.

It was the core of a space beast. These beasts were born with space affinity, and they emerged already at Galactic Realm from birth. You could understand how rare and valuable this thing actually was, but Ethan had gotten it for free.

What a luck. Hehe

He held the core in his hand.

This core was unlike the other monsters’ cores. It could directly help a martial artist connect with the Law of Space. That’s why it was even more precious.

[Ding! Law of Space detected. Comprehend?]

”Yes.”

Another row appeared in the panel:

[Law of Space: 0.00000001%]

Damn. No wonder it was a supreme law.

This time, he needed one day and twelve hours total. The core was even more potent than he had thought; otherwise, he would have needed even more time.

[Law of Space: 1%]

Now, the final law he would comprehend before breaking through. The supreme Law of Time—the emperor of all the elemental laws.

The object he got from the gift was a flower.

This flower was called the Flower of Time, a bloom born at the banks of the River of Time. Only a supreme could go to the River of Time and collect them. Another treasure with unimaginable value.

Ethan took the Flower of Time in his hand.

[Ding! The Law of Time is detected. Comprehend?]

”Yes.”

[Law of Time: 0.00000001%]

This time, Ethan needed a total of two days.

[Law of Time: 1%]

Three days and twelve hours had passed again.

[Master: Ethan Hunt

Physique: 131.072 Quintillion

Spirit: 131.072 Quintillion

Talent: Infinite Comprehension]

(5 days 6 hours remaining)

Before starting his seclution,Ethan formed a domain from his mental power and asked the system to ensure that no one could see inside, not even those supreme beings. Otherwise, if they witnessed this madness, even the Grand Supreme might come to punch some sense into him.

Damn! A total of eleven laws, among them two supreme laws. He must be the only antique piece in creation to accomplish something like this before becoming a planetary powerhouse. Because before reaching the planetary realm, one’s brain simply couldn’t capture the essence supreme laws.

But Ethan was Ethan. So that was okay.

He thought he had completed his task. All that remained was to break through, and the Sword of Death would disappear from his back.

But then he heard another system notification.

[Ding! Detected all eleven laws. Do you want to comprehend the Law of Chaos?]

Boom! A Thunder struck in his mind.

The Law of Chaos. Damn! The ultimate fate of all elements. All came from Chaos. Chaos is all. Ethan knew about this law. It was above every law. Even the universe didn’t possess this law.

He said yes without thinking. Who the hell cared about measly time?

[Law of Chaos: 0.000000001%]

And all the other laws disappeared from the panel.

Ethan didn’t need any external object to comprehend this law, as he had already comprehended the eleven laws required. He only needed time.

Days were passing.

Four days later, he finally heard the sound of the system notification:

[Ding! Law of Chaos comprehended.]

[Law of Chaos: 1%]

Huh. He had one day and five hours left.

[Master: Ethan Hunt

Physique: 2 sextillion

Spirit: 2 sextillion

Talent: Infinite Comprehension]

Five hours later, it would double again and become four sextillion.

The mass of Earth was six sextillion tonnes. That meant he needed to break through before the day after tomorrow, or else he was gone.

The urgency was huge.

He activated his breathing technique and calmed his mind.

Doesn’t matter what happens. I will succeed, he told himself.

But just as he was trying to absorb energy, the system sent a message.

[Looks like Master is ready to break through to the planetary realm. The sublimation protocol is initiating.]

”What sublimation protocol? What are you talking about?” Ethan asked urgently. He really didn’t have much time, and he wasn’t ready to take any more bullshit from the system at this life-and-death moment.

[Ding! The protocol is activated. The core is being connected to the system.]

Boom! Ethan felt the Big Bang happen inside his core. It began absorbing energy madly without even activating his breathing technique.

Where the heck was this energy coming from? There was no energy vortex in front of him. Besides, the absorption rate was too vast. If this energy were coming from the universe, surely many top-level powerhouses would have been alerted.

Then where was this energy coming from?

Suddenly, he remembered the system’s notification. His core was bound to the system.

Is it possible that the system was supplying this energy?

[Correct.]

As soon as the reply came into his mind, his eyes widened.

Holy s..! Did this mean he wouldn’t have to rely on universal energy anymore? All the energy would be supplied by the system? Then wouldn’t he have infinite energy?

This thought made Ethan’s heart pound like crazy.

The concept of infinite energy was simply mind-boggling. Because every technique and skill needed energy from his core, and it had always been limited. So he needed to think carefully before using them.

Because Earth didn’t have any powerful opponents, he hadn’t faced energy insufficiency often. But during the fight with the Ocean Emperor, he had run out of energy and needed to use the breathing technique to sustain himself. In the upper realm, even more energy would be needed, and Ethan had been worried that a similar situation might happen again. His breathing technique wouldn’t be able to keep up with that level of consumption.

This problem was solved now.

Hahahahaha. He started laughing like a madman.
