Merging with Demon Spirits

Because of the sudden possession by the Nightmare, many members of Lin Feng’s squad were severely injured, and the original rescue plan had to be forcibly halted.

This period of rest was very long, lasting three full months.

Some squad members were not seriously injured and recovered in a few days. Even Ye Xing, who had fractures in both arms, took only ten days to recover.

The ones truly seriously injured were mainly Lin Feng, He Jun, and Bing.

Among them, Bing was the most seriously injured, only waking up from a coma after a month.

In the Avengers Alliance, each member has a bounty, even Bing, who just joined the alliance. Although not high, it’s quite far off compared to other alliance members, but it’s still three billion.

With Bing’s strength, even three hundred million would be an exaggeration, let alone three billion.

Killing any member of Lin Feng’s squad could make one rich overnight.

Although Lin Feng regained consciousness, the squad’s main combat strength was injured, and the injuries were severe.

To avoid accidents, after the battle, and a brief treatment, the group quietly left Celestial Yin City, hiding in an eight-star Space Gate, completely losing contact with the outside world.

Because Lin Feng’s squad left, shortly after, the previously sealed Celestial Yin City was once again occupied by alien races.

Having taken no action in three months with no news, the outside world couldn’t help but feel puzzled and speculate.

However, with the start of the King Becoming plan, this globally focused plan became the center of people’s discussions.

At this time, people’s attention was drawn to the Glory Star and some Ninth Grade powerhouses, with few paying attention to Lin Feng’s squad’s movements.

Inside a conference room.

In a smoke-filled room, five men and women sat in their seats, all eyes on the elder with white eyebrows at the head.

”Three months have passed, and there’s still no news?”

The elder with white eyebrows, a cigarette between his fingers, asked.

”No news yet. We’ve tried every possible way to contact them, but haven’t received any response, not even from Elder Zhou’s grandson, Zhou Yi,”

Chen Tiandao respectfully said to the elder.

As a King, being able to make him respectful was enough to explain the elder’s identity.

The elder with white eyebrows was named Zhong Xiong, a Martial Emperor powerhouse, not only stronger in ability but also his superior.

Because Lin Feng’s squad disappeared for three months with unknown circumstances, Zhong Xiong appeared.

”Before I came, I only knew in general terms. What exactly is the situation, explain it.”

”Three months ago, a great battle took place in the City Lord’s Mansion in Celestial Yin City. The scene was a total mess, the battle was intense. Based on the battlefield deductions, it was Lin Feng’s squad who fought, but no outsiders or alien races appeared, leading to the conclusion of infighting and mutual slaughter.”

Chen Tiandao said slowly.

”Are you sure it’s infighting? Even if it’s infighting, there’s no need to hide from people for three months, right?”

A woman asked with a frown.

Having just obtained precious Demon Spirits, Lin Feng’s squad engaged in a battle a week later with no news for three months, couldn’t help but make them overthink.

If it was indeed infighting, then the rescue mission could be declared a failure.

Even if Lin Feng’s squad was entirely intact, success was not guaranteed, let alone lacking members due to infighting.

”I don’t think so. Lin Feng’s squad’s awareness is quite high, and it’s not the first time they’ve cooperated. The squad members are all prodigies, mostly heirs of noble families. Infighting over a few Demon Spirits seems unlikely.”

Someone refuted.

Although various signs from the battlefield photos indeed suggested infighting, he was still a bit skeptical.

”You make it sound small. Seventeen Demon Spirits, each starting at several billion. In today’s market, their total value exceeds three trillion. It’s not so simple as the few Demon Spirits you mentioned!”

”Indeed, those Demon Spirits are imbued with Diamond Soul Skills, including Divine Level Soul Skills. The value difference between Diamond and Divine Level Soul Skills is tenfold, even several tens times. Unequal distribution and imbalance could easily lead to infighting. The scene’s bloodstains further prove the ferocity of the fight; perhaps deadly force was really used!”

”Young people truly are unreliable. I was opposed back then, and see what happened now.”

”Lin Feng’s squad has sealed so many Space Gates. People who aren’t afraid of death, do you think they’d kill each other over a Soul Skill?”

”Regardless of whether it’s infighting or not, I just want to know where they are now, when the mission starts, and how to complete it! If it’s not completed, do we just let them keep those precious Demon Spirits?”

”Given their achievements and contributions, what’s the harm in letting them keep it?”

The crowd debated, without reaching a consensus, soon escalating into an unmanageable argument.

Chen Tiandao maintained a serious expression, but internally he was sneering.

As a King, he was once threatened by Lin Feng’s squad.

He withdrew then, only harboring resentment, planning to seek revenge when the opportunity arose.

Yet he hadn’t anticipated that within a week of his departure, Lin Feng’s squad would engage in infighting, mutually slaughtering without needing his retaliation.

”Although I don’t know what happened, I’m certainly sure that Lin Feng’s squad wouldn’t kill each other over Soul Skills. This rescue mission was extremely tough, hence there was no plan or time limit. When to start, and how to start, was up to Lin Feng’s squad to decide, so they didn’t do anything wrong. If a timeframe and plan were necessary, it should have been clarified from the start.”

Wang Jian spoke, his expression now grim.

Having interacted with Lin Feng’s squad a few times, he didn’t believe they would kill each other over a few Soul Skills.

But the analysis from the battlefield indicated a substantial possibility of infighting.

Furthermore, there was the blood of Lin Feng’s squad on-site, with no outsiders present.

The destruction caused by the Soul Skills also confirmed that it was Lin Feng’s squad that acted.

Coupled with no news for three months, various signs were quite unfavorable.

If Soul Skills indeed led to slaughter, it would truly be laughable.

If this were to spread, it would probably cause public uproar.

Lin Feng’s squad’s accumulated achievements and glory might vanish into thin air.

The upper echelons provide Soul Skill rewards, not to incite infighting.

If the mission were completed, it would be fine. But if it failed, the upper echelons would not tolerate it, and once the Soul Skills were absorbed, it would be difficult to manage.

Wang Jian glanced at Chen Tiandao, his gaze carrying a hint of warning.

He knew this guy harbored resentment from the previous threat and intended to retaliate against Lin Feng’s squad.

Despite the rescue mission being critically important, it wasn’t very urgent. After all, they’d waited fifty years, so a year or two wouldn’t matter.

The matter had become urgent mostly because this guy fueled it, blowing things out of proportion.

Receiving Wang Jian’s warning, Chen Tiandao acknowledged it but wasn’t bothered.

”Stop speaking on behalf of Lin Feng’s squad. Keep trying to contact them, alive or dead, we need concrete information. As for the mission, it’s changed: it now has to be completed within a year, failing which all Demon Spirits must be returned.”

Zhong Xiong sternly told Wang Jian, having lost his patience.

”Hmm,” Wang Jian sighed internally, but could only nod in agreement.

Chen Tiandao felt pleased inside, yet maintained an outward calm.

”Recently, the King Becoming plan has commenced, and the alien races have started stirring up trouble. The Space Gates aren’t peaceful; be cautious,” Zhong Xiong said.

This statement caused everyone’s expressions to grow solemn.

The King Becoming plan’s start has surpassed expectations in fervor.

The plan has become a topic of widespread, even global debate.

Its fervor vastly surpasses the Glory War.

All recent news headlines have been dominated by the plan.

But evidently, the alien races don’t want the King Becoming plan to proceed smoothly.

With an increasing number of Human Kings, the alien races see no benefit, and thus, in the past month, aliens in Space Gates started causing trouble, brutally hunting humans.

Major Satellite Cities have also become unstable, with frequent Demon Beast sieges. Besides the ”New World” rodents, it’s certain there’s alien involvement.

Due to the Guardian Divine Artifact, the Twelve Base Cities are securely protected, with many Guardians already dispatched to Satellite Cities.

Within a week of the King Becoming plan’s start, three Guardians have fallen due to Demon Beast sieges.

Amidst the lively atmosphere, the situation continues to grow more severe.
