Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 249: Chapter 190: Dare Not Refuse

With a step back, his figure retreated, blood dripping down his arm to the ground, the sting from his palm made Zhang Xingyu’s green eyes even colder, deepening his unease.

Speed has always been his advantage, but now, he feels powerless against Lin Feng, even in Demon Transformation mode.

His speed may be fast, but Lin Feng’s Thunder Step is equally swift.

In terms of pure linear speed, Lin Feng might be even faster.

However, although Lin Feng’s speed is quick, Thunder Step is characterized by its straight trajectory, unable to change direction during movement, making it hard to stop quickly if faced with danger, far less agile than Zhang Xingyu.

As long as he faces Lin Feng head-on, Lin Feng’s Third Grade Thunder Step poses little threat to him. If not for Lin Feng’s rich combat experience and perfect timing, Lin Feng would have been caught long ago.

”First Soul Skill: Gale.”

Silently reciting in his mind, Zhang Xingyu’s feet were surrounded by a blue glow, growing brighter, as if he was stepping on two clusters of blue clouds.

”Gale.”

Lin Feng instantly recognized this soul skill.

Gale, a silver soul skill,

It’s a soul skill commonly absorbed by speed-type Demon Spirit Masters.

Common but practical.

With this soul skill, Zhang Xingyu’s speed becomes even faster, and Lin Feng knows he might not be able to keep up.

”This challenge was originally unfair to you. I didn’t intend to use soul skills against you, but your strength is too formidable.”

”I cannot lose this battle.” Zhang Xingyu stated seriously.

To this, Lin Feng’s expression remained unchanged, showing no reaction.

In his view, his opponent talks too much, knowing it’s broadcasted, is he saying it for the audience nationwide?

Seeing Lin Feng unresponsive, Zhang Xingyu stopped wasting words. His figure moved, creating a phantom image, speeding towards Lin Feng, but upon nearing him within two meters, he did not attack, instead tiptoeing around Lin Feng, seeking an opening.

Lin Feng watched Zhang Xingyu’s continuous running figure, slowly rotating his body.

”Damn, this kid is an old hand, not a trace of panic, very experienced.”

No matter how Zhang Xingyu changed positions, even when Lin Feng’s body couldn’t always keep up, his gaze constantly locked on Zhang Xingyu. As Soul Power was continuously consumed, Zhang Xingyu lost patience, no longer hesitating, bending his legs to spring towards Lin Feng, his hands wielding sharp claws glowing faintly red.

”Second Soul Skill: Fangs.”

Fangs, a silver soul skill, enhances weapons and claws with faster attacking speed and penetration.

This time, when Zhang Xingyu utilized two soul skills, Lin Feng again defied everyone’s expectation, charging straight ahead instead of dodging. At the same time, the dagger in Lin Feng’s right hand tilted downward, a dazzling light cutting through, appearing in Zhang Xingyu’s eyes.

Eyes are the most sensitive and fragile parts of the body; the sudden light made Zhang Xingyu forcefully shut his eyes, inwardly realizing trouble, frantically waving his claws while attempting retreat.

But from the moment he shut his eyes, the battle was declared over.

Lin Feng, having originally charged at Zhang Xingyu, dodged the fierce claws, clenched his right fist tight, striking towards Zhang Xingyu’s chest. Due to his long-sleeved sportswear, no one noticed the golden scales emerging on Lin Feng’s arms.

”Crack...”

With a crisp sound, a figure flew backward, drawing a parabola in mid-air before heavily crashing onto the ground.

Staring at the collapsed figure on the ground, all thirty thousand spectators froze their gazes, their previous cheers and discussions abruptly ceased.

Defeated!

The 63rd on the Wind and Cloud Chart in sophomore year, Peak of Second Grade, Zhang Xingyu, who refined a Ninth Grade Demon Spirit and absorbed two soul skills, lost just like that.

The anticipated grand battle ended hastily.

It only took two minutes.

Lin Feng, aside from using Third Grade Thunder Step, didn’t even perform Thunder Burst Strike.

”How is this possible? Am I dreaming?”

”Too despicable, that silver dagger reflects light.”

”Which idiot said it was despicable? By that logic, all archers and those skilled in using hidden weapons are despicable, too.”

”That’s different.”

”What’s different, Lin Feng just entered Second Grade, refined a First Grade Demon Spirit; how would you have him fight?”

Amid voices of discussion, Lin Feng slowly walked towards Zhang Xingyu, causing many to change their expression.

This duel is a life-and-death fight.

Zhang Xingyu has already lost his fighting ability, is already defeated.

Now Lin Feng moves forward, is this to finish him completely?

Is it necessary?

No deep-seated hatred involved.

At Red Cloud University, a few life-and-death duels occur each year, but rarely does anyone truly kill their opponent.

Engaging in life-and-death duels merely allows uninhibited fighting, avoiding trouble.

After all, in ordinary challenges, causing severe injury or death brings responsibility.

”You win.”

Zhang Xingyu’s pale face, intense chest pain slightly trembling his body, looking at Lin Feng approaching, though unwilling and disappointed, he wasn’t afraid.

He didn’t intend to kill Lin Feng, naturally wouldn’t think Lin Feng would truly kill him.

”Is that it?” Lin Feng asked condescendingly, staring down at Zhang Xingyu.

If life-and-death duels end like this, anyone might challenge him to one; what significance does it hold?

Zhang Xingyu’s face changed slightly, hesitated for a moment, then said, ”One hundred million, I’ll give that to you.”

One hundred million was the minimum wager Lin Feng had stipulated for the duel.

”Back then I gave you two choices, you chose the life-and-death duel; not killing you is possible, but a life-and-death duel differs from a gamble, the wager must double, two hundred million.”

Zhang Xingyu’s face looked very unpleasant, his eyes filled with anger.

He didn’t expect to lose at the time, hence choosing the life-and-death duel. If the wager were one hundred million, Yunjin Group should cover it since he represents them in combat.

But if it’s two hundred million, the extra hundred million might end up his responsibility.

Even though one hundred million is a large sum for him.

”Only one hundred million; if not, then just kill me.”

Zhang Xingyu stared at Lin Feng, word by word.

He doesn’t believe Lin Feng would really kill him.

In front of Red Cloud University’s faculty and students, no one would easily resort to such measures; who wants their classmates to be cold-blooded killers?

Moreover, this battle has captured national attention.

Killing someone before the whole country?

Martial artists fighting is normal, but if they were classmates, killing over minor issues is unacceptable; Lin Feng would surely face backlash.

”So confident?”

Faced with Zhang Xingyu’s calm demeanor, Lin Feng’s mouth curled into an interesting arc: ”You’re right, I won’t kill you; too bloody, but I can ruin your Soul Sea.”

After saying this, Lin Feng slowly placed the dagger on Zhang Xingyu’s abdomen, its tip aimed at the Soul Sea, he smiled: ”Dare to gamble?”

Gamble!

Zhang Xingyu’s body shivered, his eyes flickering with slight dread, evidently frightened. Lin Feng’s indifferent gaze, though lacking murderous intent, showed a hint of a testing urge.

At this moment, Zhang Xingyu wanted to challenge Lin Feng to actually act but didn’t dare.

Destroy the Soul Sea and he’s half ruined!

”I truly have no money!” Zhang Xingyu shook his head bitterly.

Lin Feng smiled gently: ”No money? Contact Yunjin Group; wasn’t it them who sent you here? Tell them, if two hundred million isn’t in my account within five minutes, your Soul Sea will be pierced by my dagger, they wouldn’t dare to refuse.”

With a bitter expression, Zhang Xingyu had to acknowledge if he made this call, facing nationwide viewers, Yunjin Group, even if unwilling, would have to pay.

However, paying means he might never again receive resource nurturing from Yunjin Group.

Yet, at this moment, does he have any other choice?

”You’re ruthless.”

Zhang Xingyu reluctantly uttered, carrying his phone, he dialed the number, explaining briefly, no further elaboration was needed as Yunjin Group understood what occurred.

After all, this is live-streamed.

They are viewers too.

Two minutes later, Lin Feng’s phone pinged, a message indicating two hundred million had been transferred.

Just as he predicted, even unwillingly, nationwide viewers compelled the quick payment.

Paying leaves a good impression; refusing taints Yunjin Group’s reputation even if Lin Feng refrains from exercising his threat.

Once payment settled, Zhang Xingyu glared deeply at Lin Feng before shakily exiting the stage, his steps faltering, his head lowered.

Meanwhile, Lin Feng looked at the referee: ”Next one up for the life-and-death duel!”
