Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 243: Chapter 186: War of the Races

”Do you think this old man is being somewhat alarmist?”

Teacher Chen, hovering in mid-air, flapped his wings and said, ”If you have any questions, feel free to stand up and ask me.”

After speaking, he paused for a moment.

The expressions of the freshmen at Red Cloud University varied at this moment.

Is it really okay to be this frightening in the first class?

In this era, the Otherworld and the Alien Race are not secrets.

The appearance of Other-dimensional Space Gates is without warning and unpredictable. Over the years, the tragedies caused by these gates may happen right next to you, or even to yourself, your family, and relatives.

Although news reports may not be very detailed and perhaps only present cold casualty numbers without bloody scenes, they do not deliberately conceal either.

This is why everyone wants to become strong. The status of Martial Artists and Demon Spirit Masters is above that of ordinary people.

Even ordinary citizens know they are not absolutely safe.

The relentless emergence of Space Gates in recent years, with the Alien Race lurking in the shadows and some evil organizations rising opportunistically.

But surely, the situation isn’t this severe?

Some descendants of prominent families or large conglomerates seem to know something, remaining indifferent and appearing very composed.

Some who are clearly hearing about this for the first time are restless, with expressions of doubt, curiously observing those around them to gauge reactions. Some have their eyes filled with murderous intent, eager to act.

”Teacher Chen, aren’t all Other-dimensional Space Gates under strict control?”

A male student sitting in the front row stood up and asked loudly, ”I’m not sure about the whole world, but nationwide, every Other-dimensional Space Gate has army troops stationed! Even the gates outside the Base Cities, aren’t some sealed or forcibly destroyed?”

In the student’s view, the situation couldn’t have reached such a dire state.

Maybe Chen exaggerates to give them a sense of urgency, to push them to practice hard?

Elder Chen, somewhat sentimentally, said, ”It’s not exaggerated at all, nor is it deliberate scaremongering.”

”First, you must understand how Spiritual Power emerged?

How did Martial Arts become widespread?”

”The emergence of Spiritual Power was brought by the Other-dimensional Space Gates. That energy does not belong to Earth; it originates from the Otherworld.”

”Calling it the Otherworld isn’t exactly correct. That’s a name we’ve given it. According to the Alien Race’s language translation, that world should be called the Divine Martial Continent. Even the term Alien Race is concocted by us. They also consider themselves human, though they lack modern technology, they have their language and script, their culture, and history.”

”When Spiritual Power appeared on Earth, the Divine Martial Continent was already teeming with strong individuals.”

”Initially, space rifts were just slits. It took years to form Space Gates large enough for humans to enter, and their numbers were few, with their occurrence infrequent. Otherwise, back then, when humans had no Martial Artists or Demon Spirit Masters, even with thermal weapons, they would likely have been exterminated.”

Many of our Cultivation Techniques are based on the Alien Race Techniques, improved and adapted. The appearance of Spiritual Power and Cultivation Techniques was the foundation of the widespread Martial Arts.

As a result, the Alien Race’s Martial Artists and Demon Spirit Masters outnumber and outclass ours.”

As Elder Chen narrated, the previously noisy gymnasium became silent, and the lively atmosphere turned grave.

But among Lin Feng’s group, besides Gao Hai and Yang Fan, most showed little reaction, apparently aware of certain truths unknown to the average person.

Compared to others, Lin Feng clearly knew more.

The connection between the Divine Martial Continent and Earth via Other-dimensional Space Gates and the invasion by the Alien Race was not for resources.

Compared to Earth, the Divine Martial Continent has a better ecological environment, fresher air, abundant Spiritual Qi, and rich biodiversity, making an invasion of Earth unnecessary.

Although there is no definitive evidence, based on our understanding and speculation about the Alien Race, the Divine Martial Continent might face an existential threat.

Only under such circumstances would the Alien Race employ unimaginable means to connect two originally parallel worlds.

The Divine Martial Continent is heading towards annihilation; thus, the Alien Race seeks Earth, leaving no retreat or possibility of compromise for either side.

A student retorted, ”If the Alien Race is stronger than humanity, why haven’t they invaded yet, why give us the chance to grow stronger? Wouldn’t invading now be easier?”

Perhaps having explained many times, Teacher Zhang calmly replied, ”There are two reasons. First, the Other-dimensional Space Gates are unstable, and the instability within these spaces suppresses the power of those entering.

The less stable the space, the stronger the suppression. If a certain energy threshold is exceeded, it may cause space collapse, preventing the Alien Race from gathering at a single Space Gate for large-scale invasion.

The second reason is their fear of thermal weapons.

If a Space Gate appears in the wild and is lost, the invading Alien Race would meet not only myriad Demon Beasts but also various powerful intercontinental missiles. Under continuous bombing, apart from King Level beings, the rest of the Alien Race would struggle to survive, while destructive energy can forcibly close the Space Gate.

Thus, the Alien Race isn’t foolish enough to easily show themselves.

And for Space Gates within Base Cities, bombing could collapse the space, causing a series of chain reactions. Therefore, deploying military forces to guard them is the reason for the stalemate between humanity and the Alien Race.”

Another girl stood up and asked, ”Can’t we just keep this stalemate, what’s the change from now?”

This was a question many students had.

With the Guardian Divine Artifact and nuclear deterrence, isn’t the Alien Race afraid to invade?

Elder Zhang continued to explain:

”Since the first space rift appeared in 2056, according to the World Martial Artist Association’s statistics, over 330 years, 12,560 Other-dimensional Space Gates have emerged globally. Those in the wild have mostly been bombed shut. Currently, 7,557 are known to remain.”

Take Hua Country as an example. Initially, two space rifts appeared annually, but over time, as more Other-dimensional Space Rifts emerged, the frequency increased. Now, new ones appear directly as ’gates’, not mere rifts.

Statistics show that nationwide, 27 new Other-dimensional Space Gates appear annually.

More than half appear outside the Base Cities. If deemed dangerous, they are promptly bombed to shut them down.

But in the Base Cities, bombing is impossible due to potential space collapse.”

”Guanglin has 68 Space Gates, the most among the Twelve Base Cities, hence double the military presence compared to others. If the number of Other-dimensional Space Gates exceeds 90, there won’t be enough soldiers and Martial Artists.”

Teacher Chen said a lot, and by now, the students’ expressions had turned solemn, with some visibly trembling, their faces showing fear.

They finally understood that Teacher Chen was indeed not exaggerating.

Wild Other-dimensional Space Gates are okay; no need for stationed troops, perceived danger can be bombed and closed.

If they are within Base Cities, bombing is impossible. As more Other-dimensional Space Gates materialize, the government will eventually lose control.

By then, it might be the day of a large-scale invasion by the Alien Race.

Based on the timeline and frequency of Other-dimensional Space Gate appearances,

possibly, within less than thirty years, the Alien Race will invade Earth...

A race war is looming.

”Will it take that long?”

Lin Feng knew the situation was far more urgent than imagined.

If nothing unexpected happens, within ten years, Jiang City will first face the crisis of annihilation. Although he didn’t see traces of the Alien Race at that time, Demon Beasts lack intelligence, unable to make a Guardian Divine Artifact go out of control. Everything was undoubtedly manipulated by the Alien Race.
