Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 161: Chapter 142: Red Cloud University’s Boldest Move

Lin Feng and his group had a rough tour of the commercial area, and it was already six o’clock.

”It’s dinnertime. Shall we eat nearby or go back to the dining hall?” Lin Feng sought everyone’s opinion.

”Brother Feng, let’s go back to the dining hall to eat. We haven’t been there since we arrived at Red Cloud. I heard there are many dishes in the dining hall, with all kinds of delicacies, and an upperclassman told me that if you have the money, the dining hall can even cook dragon meat for you.”

Gao Hai was the first to suggest, and when he mentioned dragon meat, his eyes lit up with the kind of glow only a foodie would have.

”Do you dare to eat dragon meat if they give it to you?”

Lin Feng laughed.

The dragon meat Gao Hai mentioned was not the kind with diluted bloodlines like a Sub-dragon Beast but a King Level True Dragon above Ninth Grade.

He didn’t doubt the dining hall could get dragon meat.

As one of the Three Heroic Academies, Red Cloud University is full of strong individuals. The three vice principals each possess the strength of a King Level expert, and among the mentors, there are also numerous experts, with thousands of Advanced Martial Artists and Advanced Demon Spirit Masters!

As a Hero Academy with military and political backgrounds, one can only imagine Red Cloud University’s foundation. Lin Feng guessed the school’s cold storage might even hold a few True Dragon corpses.

”I also want to eat at the dining hall. I was really looking forward to it during school days,” Little Sister Dong agreed.

”Then let’s go back,” Lin Feng said, and the group returned the way they came.

The dining hall of Red Cloud University is not in the commercial area; it’s built in the residential area for students’ convenience.

When the group showed up outside the dining hall, it was already a bit dark.

It was precisely mealtime, and students, organized in teams or dormitory groups, gathered in threes and fives with bustling energy.

Red Cloud had many people, so there were many dining halls.

Following the crowd, the group casually chose a nearby dining hall.

Inside the dining hall, it was packed with people, and the slightly noisy environment made Lin Feng frown slightly.

The dining hall was vast, with thirty windows.

Windows numbered 1 to 30 were all lined with long queues, yet, in this crowded environment, between windows 15 and 16, there were two special windows.

These windows had no numbers, located at the center of the dining hall, distinguished by special colors, one red and one purple.

”Why are no people at those two windows?” Gao Hai asked curiously.

Outside the red window, only a sparse few people were queuing, and the purple window was completely empty.

The dining environment of these two special windows differed from the rest, which were numbered.

The dining environment of ordinary windows consisted of white ceramic tiles and plastic tables and chairs.

Whereas the floor at these two windows was exquisite marble, and the tables and chairs were more comfortable and luxurious, though the two regions had differences, with the red window’s dining area having wooden chairs and the purple window boasting genuine leather sofas.

”Is it a dining area exclusive to mentors? But why do I have the feeling those people are clearly students!” Little Sister Dong remarked with confusion after observing.

Those teenagers queuing were very obviously just like them: new students who had just enrolled.

Yang Fan explained, ”In Red Cloud, mentors have their own exclusive dining hall and don’t dine in the same dining hall as students.”

”Those two special areas, the red window represents the area exclusive to those on the Strong Chart, and the purple represents the area exclusive to those on the Wind and Cloud Chart.”

Exclusive areas!

Upon hearing Yang Fan say this, Lin Feng understood that this was what is called privilege.

And the Strong Chart and Wind and Cloud Chart are two rankings established by Red Cloud for the students.

Each grade has these two charts.

The Wind and Cloud Chart is the top 100 students in each grade in terms of combat strength, with a hundred spots.

The Strong Chart lists those ranked 101 to 1100, with a thousand spots.

Being on the Strong Chart proves one is a strong contender in the same grade.

Being on the Wind and Cloud Chart signifies a star figure of the grade.

Every student takes pride in making it onto these two charts.

Those listed not only garner the envy and admiration of other students but also gain rewards and privileges in terms of cultivation resources.

”It seems intentional to create preferential treatment, isn’t it just about eating? Is it necessary to go this far?” Gao Hai pursed his lips and couldn’t help but complain.

Ordinary students live in five-person dorms, while elite students reside in single rooms.

And the hundred people with seats in the Throne Challenge live in villas!

Living in villas can be accepted!

You live, then live! Yet they just must be built above the students’ dormitory buildings!

Building it is one thing!

They are also distributed in stair-step fashion, one taller than the other, making it look like terraced fields, making those living in villas seem high and mighty, as if they lord over the students living in dormitories.

Now this applies even to dining.

They even set up a special passage, special area.

Special is special!

But the windows are in the corner, yet they are placed right in the center, surrounded by everyone.

This blatant, bare discrimination is very unfriendly to weaklings like them.

Not only blatant, in Gao Hai’s view, this is obviously deliberate by Red Cloud.

Otherwise, like the mentors with an exclusive dining hall, the experts on the Strong and Wind and Cloud Charts could also have their dining halls, and then it wouldn’t be bothersome to others.

”This tactic is indeed bold!”

Gao Hai exclaimed.

In the afternoon, when he stood on the balcony of the first villa, looking down at the dormitory clusters like building blocks and each student appearing like tiny black dots, this feeling was indeed exhilarating, extremely exhilarating.

Vanity and satisfaction are at their peak!

There’s a feeling of standing above others, overlooking everything.

It’s wonderful yet cruel at the same time.

Because, for Gao Hai, it’s only through connections that he can have this feeling.

”Luckily, only the top 1100 in combat power get this special treatment; if it were the top 10,000, I’d rather walk further to eat at the commercial street.”

Gao Hai thought to himself quietly.

Only a small part of people enjoy this privilege, which is the only consolation.

”Freshmen have just enrolled, aren’t these two rankings supposed to start only at the end of this semester?” asked Dong Yunan suspiciously.

Yang Fan explained, ”For freshmen, the top 100 in the Throne Challenge is equivalent to the Wind and Cloud Chart, and as for the Strong Chart, excluding the top 100 in the Throne Challenge, a thousand people are automatically selected based on entrance exam scores.”

”That’s exactly Red Cloud’s style, indeed flamboyant!”

Yun Kai, who was usually silent and not fond of speaking in the team, couldn’t help but say.

He even specifically used the word flamboyant to describe it!

Comparison creates beauty!

You don’t have it, but I do, that’s how happiness and vanity are highlighted.

The strong have priority, enjoy privileges!

Make all students constantly compare against each other.

This kind of comparison naturally makes people dissatisfied, uncomfortable, and generates feelings of inferiority and anger!

But who cares!

Except for oneself, nobody else will care!

University mentors are not like those in middle and high school.

If you can’t show worth cultivating, mentors won’t even spare you a glance, say a word, or even remember who you are.

If you feel aggrieved, you can only hold it in!

If you want to cry, you can only cry under the covers.

If you complain or cry to others, not only will you not be understood, but you’ll also be mocked and discriminated against, and if you’re unlucky, you might even get beaten up.

If once isn’t enough, then twice!

Beat you until you don’t cry.

Therefore, to change all this, you can only work hard in cultivation!

Make yourself no longer envious of others, and become one of those few who enjoy privileges!

This special teaching style is the same in any Martial Arts Academy.

The Three Heroic Academies and Nine Elite Joint Schools also adhere to the rule of might makes right, and priority for the strong, just to different extents.

However, Red Cloud takes this approach to the extreme, most blatantly.

According to previous senior students: Red Cloud is the most flamboyant!

And according to senior students, this is just the beginning of the flamboyance, there’s a series of flamboyant operations to come, getting more and more flamboyant!

”So do we have to split up just to have a meal?” Gao Hai said with a look of helplessness.

He and Yang Fan are weaklings who got in through connections, ranking at the bottom of the school.

Seeing Gao Hai looking deflated, Yang Fan laughed and said, ”No such thing, I specifically asked a senior, a Strong Chart expert can take one person to enjoy this privilege, a Wind and Cloud Chart expert can take two people.”

”That’s good, so what are we waiting for, let’s go, I’m starving.”

Gao Hai said quickly.

With the special passage, there’s naturally no need to wait in line.

This special treatment indeed can bring a sense of vanity and satisfaction, even Gao Hai, who just complained, couldn’t help but deliberately lift his head and chest to enjoy the envious and jealous glances of others.

And this held no value for Lin Feng, and no feeling whatsoever.

The strong have priority, enjoy privileges, in his view, this is a very normal matter.

Nothing special at all.

Just like cows eating grass, and humans eating cows, you talk about equality, that’s really laughable.

Life is inherently unequal.

To speak of everyone being equal is foolishness that would only invite ridicule.

While the strong enjoy privileges, they are also given more responsibility.

Lin Feng and his group walked towards the special area, along the way attracting the attention of many students who were either lining up or eating.

”It’s Wind God and Emperor Kai!”

”The top three of the Throne Challenge are all here, the legendary top-level configuration!”

”How great would it be to join their team, Wind God and Emperor Kai both seem to be on the Frenzy Warrior path in the future, just missing a violent output mage.”

”Indeed, if you could join their team, you could save at least ten years of effort.”

As many students discussed, envy and desire flashed in their eyes.

As for this kind of privilege, apart from a few who disdainfully curled their lips, few complained.

Those who got into Red Cloud are all geniuses, and geniuses have their pride; having already had the lesson from the Throne Challenge, they understand it’s intentional by the school and complaining is useless, only making them a laughingstock.

Many people retracted their gaze, seeming unfazed, but many secretly clenched their fists.
