Upon reaching the exterior of the villa, a call from Butler Lu suddenly came from behind.

”Young Master, Young Master...”

Jiang Chen hesitated for a moment but eventually stopped in his tracks.

”Thank you, Butler...Lu,” Jiang Chen said as Butler Lu approached him, with a hint of complexity in his eyes, adding, ”However, you don’t have to call me Young Master, I am not one.”

On the way to the Sun Family, he had already heard some things from Gong Lin, but he still found it hard to accept them for the moment.

”No, you are. And it’s my duty to do this, no need for thanks. How about we talk?” Butler Lu looked at Jiang Chen with anticipation.

Jiang Chen hesitated again and then softly said, ”In that case, come to my house tomorrow, I would like to hear what my mother has to say.”

”Alright,” Butler Lu nodded in agreement.

Jiang Chen then turned his head to look at Director Guan standing beside Butler Lu.

Seeing Jiang Chen’s gaze, Director Guan couldn’t help but bend his waist a little. The Young Master of the Jiang Family, my goodness, such an important figure, why hadn’t he realized it before?

At this moment, Jiang Chen expressed his gratitude, ”Director Guan, I also thank you for this matter.”

Director Guan quickly waved his hands, ”No need, no need, it’s all part of the job.”

Jiang Chen suddenly asked again, ”Do you know what will happen to Sun Zhengfeng?”

Director Guan hesitated, drew closer, and whispered, ”For his charges, at most, he’ll serve a few years in prison.”

A cold light flashed in Jiang Chen’s eyes, he nodded without saying a word.

Stepping out of the villa and seeing no one around, Jiang Chen spoke lowly to Zhang Long, ”Zhang Long, arrange for Sun Zhengfeng’s release on bail.”

”Mr. Jiang, why is this?” Zhang Long was stunned and spoke with confusion.

A cold glint passed through Jiang Chen’s eyes, ”Release Sun Yukun on bail and send Sun Jiayu over, some mistakes must be paid for with life!”

Zhang Long trembled inside, understanding Jiang Chen’s intent, and turned to give the orders.

...

The next morning.

Sun Zhengfeng was released on bail from the police station, and a car picked him up right outside.

”Who are you?” Sun Zhengfeng frowned at the unfamiliar driver.

”The Family Head sent me. The young master has also been picked up. He’s in the back. The Family Head asked me to send you away from Jinhai,” said the driver sincerely and with a solemn voice.

Sun Zhengfeng glanced at the back seat to see his son wrapped in bandages, lying unconscious.

He sighed, understanding his father’s arrangement. Then, with a vicious look in his eyes, ”I’ll come back, Jiang Chen. You wait for me, I will not let you off.”

Muttering to himself, Sun Zhengfeng got into the back seat.

But the driver’s eyes flashed with a mocking smile, peeking at Sun Zhengfeng through the rearview mirror before driving away from the police station.

The car travelled to the outskirts of Jinhai, on a small road without surveillance cameras, and faced an oncoming construction vehicle, the driver’s eyes slightly narrowed.

”Screeech—”

Just as they were about to pass the construction vehicle, the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car.

”What are you doing?” Sun Zhengfeng spoke in astonishment.

”Mr. Jiang entrusted me with a message for you, to send you on your way,” came the driver’s voice from outside the car.

Sun Zhengfeng’s face turned pale with shock, realizing something, and turned to look outside.

”Boom!”

Outside, an engineering vehicle suddenly toppled over towards the car where Sun Zhengfeng and his son were seated.

”No—”

In the midst of Sun Zhengfeng’s shrill scream, the engineering vehicle crashed down onto the car, crushing both Sun Zhengfeng and Sun Jiayu, along with the vehicle, into a bloody pulp.

In the corner, Zhang Long slowly stepped out, looked into the distance, then pulled out his phone.

”Mr. Jiang, it’s done.”

Meanwhile, at Jiang Chen’s home, Jiang Chen had just finished a call, a slight curve formed at the corner of his mouth as he returned to the living room.

In the living room, sitting opposite his mother Shen Xiaoqin was Butler Lu from the Jiang Family of Jincheng. He had been listening to Shen Xiaoqin and Butler Lu talking about his father’s affairs.

”Xiao Chen, your father truly was the sole son of the old Family Head of the Jiang Family, as well as the only direct descendant—I can testify to that. To be with me, he defied the family and has been hiding outside with me ever since.”

Shen Xiaoqin felt guilty as she looked at Jiang Chen, reaching out to take his hand: ”Your father later had an accident, and I was afraid that you would blame the Jiang Family because of your father’s situation, so I never dared to tell you about your heritage.”

Shen Xiaoqin saw how difficult Jiang Chen’s life had been all these years, and she always had a deep sense of guilt in her heart. If it weren’t for her, Jiang Chen could have had the wealthy life that many would envy.

Butler Lu interjected from the side: ”We only recently discovered that you and your mother are in Jinhai City. Now that your father has had an accident, you’re the only direct descendant of the Jiang Family’s legitimate bloodline, the heir apparent to the next family leader. Please come back with us.”

Jiang Chen raised his eyebrows at Butler Lu, ”Is there no Family Head in the Jiang Family now?”

”No, there is one, but he’s from a collateral line,” explained Butler Lu, shaking his head solemnly. ”Our family has a rule that if there is a direct descendant, the direct bloodline must inherit the position of the Family Head. Therefore, you are the sole heir for the next generation.”

Jiang Chen was silent for a moment before he waved his hand gently: ”I don’t want to be any family heir. I just want to live an ordinary life.”

”Young Master, this is your duty!” Butler Lu urgently voiced.

”Xiao Chen, go back, after all, that’s your family, and there are your relatives there, too!” Shen Xiaoqin also spoke, urging Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen shook his head firmly, ”Mom, no need to say more. I don’t want to go back right now.”

Shen Xiaoqin and Butler Lu exchanged looks, both let out a sigh, and seeing the determination in Jiang Chen’s eyes, Butler Lu reluctantly gave up on trying to persuade him for the time being.

Jiang Chen looked up at Butler Lu, speaking softly, ”Butler Lu, I also hope you won’t spread the word about this matter.”

Butler Lu nodded, ”Alright. But I still hope you return to the family as soon as possible. The old master misses you.”

The old master? That must be his grandfather, right? Jiang Chen’s expression softened, and he nodded.

Now that they had Jiang Chen’s decision, Butler Lu stood up to say goodbye: ”Young Master, then we shall take our leave.”

”Alright.” Jiang Chen nodded and stood up to see off Butler Lu.

But just as they stepped out of the house, suddenly, a man burst out from the side of the road, holding a dagger that gleamed with a cold blue light, charging straight at Butler Lu.

Jiang Chen was startled, raising his eyebrows, he quickly reached out, pulling Butler Lu behind him.

The man’s eyes flashed coldly, as he swiftly rotated his dagger, aiming directly at Jiang Chen’s neck.

Jiang Chen’s brow furrowed, and he reached up to grab the man’s wrist, twisting it forcefully.

Crack!

Clang!

The man’s wrist was broken by Jiang Chen, and the dagger fell to the ground.

Gritting his teeth against the pain, the man reached behind his back with his other hand, pulling out another dagger as he lunged at Jiang Chen’s abdomen.

The dagger shimmered just like the previous one, with a deadly blue glint, indicating poison!

A cold light flickered in Jiang Chen’s eyes as he threw a forceful punch, striking the man in the face.
