Martial Dao: Peace by Force

Chapter 206: Chapter 157: Attribute Breakthrough: Hawkish Wan Ze

The man was standing just three steps away.

He stood there quietly, just watching him.

His gaze was so calm it was chilling.

Xiao Yunkai made a faint sound in his throat, as if he wanted to say something but was choked up.

Because...

He recognized this face.

It was Wan Ze!

The target he had been staking out for three days.

’Fucking hell! When did I get made?’

The moment their eyes met, Xiao Yunkai felt blood rush to his head. A single thought flashed through his mind... ’What do I do?!’

But before he could figure it out, Wan Ze had already reached out and taken the communicator from his hand.

The movement was casual, as if he were taking something that belonged to him.

Xiao Yunkai watched helplessly as the communicator was taken. He subconsciously tried to move, but his legs felt nailed to the ground, frozen by a guilty conscience.

Wan Ze glanced down at the communicator’s screen... Call duration: three minutes and forty-two seconds.

He pressed the end-call button, slipped the communicator into his own pocket, then looked up at Xiao Yunkai and said bluntly, ”Are you going to start talking, or should I make you?”

Xiao Yunkai’s pupils contracted.

But when he came to his senses, a wave of shame and anger surged through him.

His momentary stupor and the sudden fear that had gripped him felt utterly humiliating!

He was from the Divine Martial Society!

A dignified Blood Tempering Second Transformation Martial Artist! He had trained in martial arts for seven years, seen the world, and fought tough battles. How could he let a first-year high school student intimidate him!

It was a good thing no one else was around. If word got out, how could he ever show his face in the Divine Martial Society again!

”Wan Ze!” Xiao Yunkai suppressed the tremor of fear in his heart and growled in anger, ”Give me back my communicator! Don’t think that just because you’re from Dragon Eagle—”

BAM!

A kick flew straight at him.

It was too fast to see clearly.

The force exploded in Xiao Yunkai’s abdomen.

In an instant, his body doubled over like a shrimp. His stomach churned violently, and he nearly threw up his lunch.

Staggering back two steps, Xiao Yunkai clutched his stomach, his face a mask of disbelief.

’I... I actually got hit?’

’And by Wan Ze, no less!’

He gasped for air, his shame and anger twisting into shocked fury. ”You dare to lay a hand on me! Do you have any idea who I—”

Before he could finish his sentence...

”BAM!”

Wan Ze delivered another clean, sharp kick, completely uninterested in his nonsense.

This time, it landed squarely on Xiao Yunkai’s chest.

He was sent flying backward, crashing into a trash can behind him. The metal bin dented with a harsh, grating sound.

He tumbled to the ground, spat out a mouthful of blood, and his face instantly turned deathly pale.

Xiao Yunkai tried to get up, pushing himself off the ground with his hands, but failed twice.

He looked up to find Wan Ze standing over him, looking down from above.

His gaze was still just as calm.

Xiao Yunkai trembled, finally realizing he had run into a ruthless one.

His voice trembled. ”Wan Ze... we can talk about this, we can talk!”

”Speak.”

The reply was a single, concise word.

Xiao Yunkai swallowed and began speaking quickly. ”Okay, I’ll talk. I... I’m from the Divine Martial Society, Xiao Yunkai! I came here with Brother Tian to investigate the cause of Sun Weilong’s death... Sun Weilong, I don’t know if you knew him, but he was one of our Divine Martial Society members. Now that he’s dead, we have to find out what happened! We found out he had dealings with Tie Shizhe before he died, and you’re close with Tie Shizhe... Of course, I’m just conducting a routine investigation, I don’t mean anything else by it! I really don’t!”

”Don’t mean anything else by it?” Wan Ze looked at him, the corner of his mouth slowly pulling into a cold smirk. ”So... who gave you the right to surveil me?”

Xiao Yunkai quickly said, ”Don’t get me wrong! The Divine Martial Society and Dragon Eagle have always minded their own business. This is really just a routine investigation! If you’re innocent, there’s no need to resist so strongly, right?”

But Wan Ze cut him off. ”So what you’re saying is, I must submit to your will?”

Xiao Yunkai froze.

”You...” Wan Ze looked down at him, his gaze holding no anger, only a chilling calm. ”Who the hell do you think you are?”

Xiao Yunkai’s face instantly flushed red, and he shouted in humiliation and anger, ”Wan Ze!!!”

But just as he finished speaking.

Without another word, Wan Ze kicked him directly in the face.

The blow was heavy and powerful!

It was completely impossible to block!

Xiao Yunkai’s vision went black, and he passed out completely.

Wan Ze crouched down and searched him for a moment, quickly pulling out a notebook. He flipped it open. It was filled with densely packed notes.

Besides his own name, Wan Ze, there were seven or eight other people listed. Their movements, habits, and social networks were all recorded in meticulous detail.

Even the amount of time he spent training at the Dragon Eagle Martial Arts Hall each day had been specifically monitored and recorded.

He then picked up Xiao Yunkai’s communicator and opened the chat history.

The most recent messages were an exchange with someone named ”Brother Tian”—

[Xiao Yunkai: Nothing unusual on Wan Ze’s end. He just trains every day. No overlap with Sun Weilong’s circle.]

[Brother Tian: Keep watching him. Don’t let up.]

[Xiao Yunkai: Understood.]

Wan Ze looked at these few lines of text, and his heart settled slightly.

’They don’t know about the ancient script yet.’

He slowly stood up and glanced down at the unconscious Xiao Yunkai.

This person...

He had no intention of letting this go.

Back when the issue with Qin Jiu and his master happened, Dragon Eagle and the Divine Martial Society had a few verbal clashes. But the Divine Martial Society disavowed Qin Jiu, so Dragon Eagle couldn’t get the pound of flesh they wanted.

But what about this Xiao Yunkai?

The Divine Martial Society couldn’t possibly disavow one of its own Official Disciples, could they?

Wan Ze took out his communicator and dialed a number.

It rang twice before someone picked up.

”Master.”

”Hm? Did you run into trouble?” Situ Bai’s voice came from the other end.

Wan Ze briefly explained what had just happened, including how Xiao Yunkai had tailed and surveilled him, and had personally admitted to being from the Divine Martial Society.

There was silence for a few seconds on the other end.

Then Situ Bai spoke, letting out a light, self-deprecating chuckle. ”They all think we’re old... Alright, you don’t need to worry about the rest.”

Wan Ze didn’t ask any more questions. He acknowledged the command and ended the call.

He knew what his master meant.

Situ Bai didn’t ask who killed Sun Weilong, nor did he ask if Wan Ze had anything to do with it. The old man only cared about one thing... someone from the Divine Martial Society had brazenly surveilled his, Situ Bai’s, Closed-door Disciple on his own turf.

That was enough.

Even though the Divine Martial Society and Dragon Eagle were both dominant powers in their own right, this matter would not be so easily forgotten.

...

「Inside the bookstore.」

Sun Beixi was holding a book, his fingers trembling slightly. He kept glancing toward the entrance before quickly looking away, pretending to read.

The proprietress at the front counter had already shot him several glances.

A grown man had been staring at a book titled *How Sows Give Birth Smoothly* for nearly ten minutes without turning a single page.

Just when he was about to lose his composure, a hand landed on his shoulder.

Sun Beixi flinched violently, nearly dropping the book.

”Let’s go,” Wan Ze’s voice came from behind him.

Sun Beixi turned, saw Wan Ze’s face, and let out a long sigh of relief. He shoved the book back onto the shelf and hurried after him, completely missing the proprietress’s astonished expression as she watched the two of them.

Once they were outside, he lowered his voice and asked, ”Is it handled?”

Wan Ze nodded.

Sun Beixi wanted to ask more, but he looked at the people coming and going on the street and swallowed his words.

The two of them walked forward side by side, neither saying another word.
