Longevity through Upgrading Buildings

Chapter 793 - 331: Merfolk Secrets

The elder merfolk spoke in the human language with quite a stutter, but after a couple of sentences, he improved greatly.

The surroundings were extremely quiet, with all the merfolk watching honestly, not daring to make a sound.

Ji Yuan also stepped forward, once again cupping his hands toward the elder merfolk, before cautiously asking, ”You, elder... can you speak the human language?”

But as soon as he finished speaking, he realized it wasn’t quite right, just as he was thinking of correcting himself, he saw the elder merfolk wave his hand.

”We were originally part of the human race; even though now transformed into the merfolk race, we are still part of the human race, why wouldn’t I speak the human language?”

”Merfolk race...”

Ji Yuan recalled the books he had read, which indeed described merfolk.

But most descriptions say that fishermen saw merfolk with human bodies and fish tails at the seaside, and as soon as they were seen, they immediately returned to the sea.

Or they say they fell into the sea and were rescued by merfolk.

There were no very detailed, systematic descriptions.

”I am the leader of the merfolk race here, named... if spoken in human terms, it would be Yu Yuan. Originally, everyone in our merfolk race spoke the elegant language, but as we haven’t seen living humans for a long time, it gradually became that only the leader had to learn this elegant language.”

Elegant language, so that’s what we call this... Ji Yuan silently took note, just as he thought about speaking.

He saw Yu Yuan turn slightly.

”Friend, you have come from afar and saved our clansmen, you are indeed a distinguished guest of our merfolk race. Friend, please come with me.”

After Yu Yuan finished speaking, he swam in the direction he came from. As he passed by the merfolk, he said a few words in the language of the merfolk race.

Ji Yuan didn’t know what he said, he only knew that after he spoke, these members of the merfolk race bowed in unison towards him.

Moreover, they placed their right hand on their chest and gave a deep bow.

Fortunately, Ji Yuan was someone who had experienced many grand occasions and was not panicked, but nodded left and right and then followed behind the elder merfolk.

Once he passed by the many merfolk, they stood up, more excited compared to before.

They spoke continuously.

Sputtering a series of bubbles.

Ji Yuan was walking when he suddenly seemed to sense something, he paused, tentatively channeling a thread of Spiritual Qi.

As a result... no Water Blade appeared!

There is no Water Blade here!

Yu Yuan sensed his anomaly from ahead and turned around, looking at him with curiosity, ”Friend, is there anything that worries you?”

”No, I dare to ask, elder, is there truly no Water Blade in your esteemed place?” Ji Yuan asked back.

Hearing this question, a smile appeared on Yu Yuan’s face.

”Indeed, this is the key for us merfolk race to survive here; outside is constantly under attack by Water Blade, but here is a peaceful land.”

...No Water Blade, which means mana can be used, bringing even more safety.

Ji Yuan nodded in admiration, ”Indeed a treasure land.”

Yu Yuan’s expression suddenly froze, as if he just thought of something.

He confessed, he was really dazzled by the sudden visit of humans and forgot to be cautious... even defaulted all humans to be good people.

At once, he remembered an ancestral teaching passed down from his ancestors.

Which is ”Of all races in the world, humans are the most cunning!”

Ji Yuan saw his expression and knew he must have thought of something.

But so what if he remembered?

Ji Yuan had long used his Divine Sense to thoroughly explore here, and in the area his Divine Sense could probe into, the strongest... if converted to body cultivation, that would be Body Foundation Establishment.

Indeed formidable, but unfortunately only one.

Now practicing boxing in a cave, Ji Yuan saw several times with his Divine Sense and memorized the boxing technique.

The boxing technique is useful, but for Ji Yuan it doesn’t serve much purpose anymore.

What intrigues Ji Yuan most about the merfolk race is the tattoos that can be engraved on the body to enhance strength.

”Elder, rest assured, I just accidentally fell into this Fallen Immortal Gully, and wanted to ask the elder how to escape; I have no intention of staying long, elder rest assured.”

Upon hearing this, Yu Yuan’s expression eased somewhat.

”No problem, no problem, friend, speaking like this is treating us like outsiders.”

Yu Yuan continued leading the way, eventually bringing Ji Yuan into a cave within the rock wall, only to discover upon entering.

One of the four guards with crab tattoos was already absent.

Judging by the direction, he should be going to fetch that Body Foundation Establishment merfolk.

Ji Yuan wasn’t worried, just listened to Yu Yuan’s arrangement and sat down.

If nothing unexpected happens, this cave should be the deliberation hall of the merfolk race, or perhaps their... Ancestral Hall?

Once there, the remaining three guards gazed at Ji Yuan with curious eyes.

Yu Yuan remained slightly calm, first instructing several beautiful merfolk women to serve Ji Yuan something similar to tea water.

Ji Yuan was also curious, how could there be tea in the sea?

But it seemed that the two did not mix.

Ji Yuan accepted it, dared not drink, and placed it on the table.

Yu Yuan chuckled, saying, ”The last time our merfolk race had a human visitor was my grandfather’s grandfather, and none of our current clansmen have seen humans, so they are inevitably curious about you, friend; please don’t mind.”
